Article 20. To see if the Town will vote to include in the Tax Levy for electricity used for Street Lighting, the sum of Eighty-Five Hundred Dollars ($8,500.00) as appropriated under Article 19 of the Warrant for the 1944 Annual Town Meeting, and that said sum together with the in- come from sales of electricity to private consumers, or for current supplied to Municipal Buildings or for Municipal Power, and from the sales of ap- pliances and jobbing during the current fiscal year, to be appropriated for the use of the Municipal Light Plant, the whole to be expended under the alirection and control of the Municipal Light Board for repairs, renewals, new construction and operating expenses of the plant for the fiscal year, as defined in Section 57, Chapter 164, General Laws, and that, if said in- wome shall exceed the expense for the fiscal year, such excess shall be trans- ferred to the construction fund of said plant and appropriated and shall be used for such additions to the Plant as may thereafter be authorized by the Municipal Light Board.


Article 21. To see if the Town will vote to appropriate from the in- . come of the Electric Light Department, the sum of Three Hundred Forty- five Dollars ($345.00) for the salaries of the Electric Light Commissioners.


Article 22. To see what sum or sums of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for the purposes of the Sewer Department, to be expended by the. Board of Sewer Commissioners, or take any action rela- tive thereto.


Article 23. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate the sinn of $300.00 for salaries of the Board of Sewer Commissioners.

To see what sums of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for the support of the Highway Department, including labor, repairs, and building sidewalks, stone roads and removal of snow, repairs to highways, Town Ways and Bridges; Oiling and Tarring of Streets; purchase of equipment for said department; and collection of rubbish ; or take any other action relative thereto.


Article 26. ON PETITION. To see if the Town will vote to accept as and for a Town Way, CAPE COD LANE, as laid out by the Selectmen, and raise and appropriate a sum of money for the improvement of the same ; or take any action relative thereto.


Article 27. ON PETITION. To see if the Town will vote to accept as and for a Town Way, HIGHLAND AVENUE, for a distance of 250 feet off Howard Street, as laid out by the Selectmen; or take any action relative thereto.


Article 28, To see if the Town will vote to accept as and for a Town Way, RIVER STREET EXTENSION, as laid out by the Selectmen, a dis- tance of 600 feet from the intersection of River Street and Arnold Road; or take any action relative thereto.

Article 31. To see if the Town will vote to accept as and for a Town Way, MILTON ROAD, as laid out by the Selectmen; or take any action relative thereto.


Article 31. ON PETITION. To see if the Town will vote to accept as and for a Town Way, ATLAS ROAD, as laid out by the Selectmen, and raise and appropriate a sum of money for the improvement of the same; or take any action relative thereto.


Article 32. To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for the construction of a sidewalk on the easterly side of Quincy Avenue from the Cities Service Gate to the Quincy Line; or take any action relative thereto.

To see if the Town will vote to abandon a portion of land on Grove Street, Braintree, between the Old Line and the New State Line, easterly from the present State Highway Layout of 1929, containing approximately 3850 square feet, as shown on "Plan of a Portion of Grove Street. Article 34. To see if the Town will vote to ratify and confirm the ac- tion of the Selectmen in connection with the alteration and improvement of the Middle Street Railroad Bridge and authorize the Selectmen to petition the County Commissioners for validation of such action.


TOWN FOREST DEPARTMENT


Article 35. To see if the Town will vote to add to the present Town Forest under the control of the Forestry Committee, certain parcels of land adjacent thereto or take any action relative thereto.


Article 36. To see what sums of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for the use of the Town Forest Committee; or take any action relative thereto.


PARK DEPARTMENT


Article 37. To see what sums of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for the general uses of the Board of Park Commissioners, or take any action relative thereto.


Article 38. To see if the Town will vote to place under the exclusive control of the Park Department a parcel of land now held by the Town on Tax Title foreclosure proceedings described as follows: Lots 20, 19, 18, 17, 56, Plots 62-66, Plan 3037 on file in the Assessors' Office, containing ap- proximately 32,826 square feet of land, or take any action relative thereto.


Article 39. To see what sums of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for the purpose of improving Hollis Field and fencing any portion or all of the same, or take any other action relative thereto.


CEMETERIES


Article 40. To see what sums of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for the improvement of Cemeteries, or take any action relative thereto.

Article 41. To see if the Town will vote to accept a trust fund in the amount of Two Hundred and Fifty Dollars ($250.00) established under the will of Henry H. Musick for the care of a portion of Lot 97, Plain Street Cemetery.


SCHOOLS AND LIBRARIES


Article 42. To see what sums of money the Town will vote to raise and apropriate for the support of the Public Schools, or take any other action relative thereto.


Article 43. To see what sums of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for the Public Library, or take any action relative thereto.


SOLDIERS' BENEFITS


Article 44. To see what sums of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for Soldiers' Relief, War Allowance, State Aid and Mili- tary Aid, or take any action relative thereto.


Article 45. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate a sum of money for the Observance of Memorial Day, or take any action relative thereto.


Article 46. ON PETITION. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate a sum of money to assist Braintree Post No. 86, American Legion, in defraying expenses of Memorial Day, or take any other action relative thereto.


Article 47. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate a sum of money for the purpose of furnishing suitable quarters for Braintree Post No. 1702, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and its Ladies' Auxiliary, or take any action relative thereto.

PUBLIC WELFARE


Article 49. To see what sums of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for the Public Welfare Department, including Aid for De- pendent Children, and Adequate Assistance to Certain Aged Persons under the provisions of Chapter 118A, General Laws; or take any action relative thereto.


MISCELLANEOUS


Article 50. To see what sums of money, in addition to that apropriated under any other article, the Town will vote to raise or borrow and appro- priate for Land Damages.


Article 51. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate a sum of money for the payment of printing of the Annual Report of the Town of Braintree for 1943, or take any other action relative thereto.


Article 52. To see what distribution the Town will vote to make of the income of the Thayer Fund.


Article 53. To see what sums of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for the expenses of the Planning Board, or take any action relative thereto.


Article 54. To see what sums of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate to meet the payment of certain bills contracted prior to January 1, 1944, or take any action relative thereto.

Article 59. To see if the Town will vote to amend its By-Laws by providing that the Collector of Taxes shall collect, under the title of Town Collector, all accounts due the Town, in accordance with Section 38A, Chap- ter 41, General Laws; or take any action relative thereto.


Article 60. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate a sum of money for the suppression of Ragweed and determine what depart- ment shall be designated for said purpose, or take any other action rela- tive thereto.


Article 61. To see if the Town will vote to amend Article 3 of the By-Laws by inserting therein the following section:


"Section 1A. The most recent ex-chairman of the Finance Committee shall be a member ex-officio of the Finance Committee during the term of office of his immediate successor as such chairman."


Article 62. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate a sum of money for the use of the Committee appointed under Article 62 of the Annual Meeting of 1942, for the purpose of employing assistance on a survey of the possibilities of salary standardization, employment classifica- tion, and departmental administration with reference to employment and management problems, or take any other action relative thereo.


Article 63. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate a sum of money for the improvement of the Penniman School Playground or take any action relative thereto.


Article 64. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate a sum of money for the purpose of acquiring land to be used for a Town Dump or take any action relative thereto.


You are directed to serve this Warrant by posting true and attested copies thereof in one or more public places in each Voting Precinct in said Town of Braintree, ten days at least before said sixth day of March, 1944, and by publishing the same once each week for two successive weeks in the "Braintree Observer," the first publication to be at least eight days be- fore said meeting.


Hereof fail not, and make due return of this Warrant with your doings thereon, to the Town Clerk, before said meeting.

In the name of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, you are hereby directed to notify and warn the inhabitants of the Town of Braintree, qualified to vote in Town Affairs, to meet at the Town Hall, in said Braintree on Monday, the twentieth day of March 1944, at seven forty- five o'clock in the evening, to act on the following article, namely:


Article 1. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate, or transfer from available funds in the treasury, a sum of money for the purchase of War Bonds or other bonds that are legal investments for savings banks, in order to establish a postwar rehabilitation fund, in accordance with the provisions of Chapter 5, Acts of 1943.


You are directed to serve this Warrant by posting true and attested copies thereof in three public places in each voting Precinct in said Town of Braintree ten days at least before said twentieth day of March, 1944 and by publishing the same once each week for two successive weeks in the Braintree Observer, each first publication to be at least eight days before said meeting.


Hereof fail not, and make due return of this Warrant, with your doings thereon, to the Town Clerk before said meeting.
