ESSEX. SS. TO EITHER OF THE CONSTABLES OF THE TOWN OF IPS- WICH IN SAID COUNTY : GREETING :
In the name of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts you are hereby required to notify and warn the legal voters of said town to meet at the town house in said town, on Monday. the 5th day of March next, at nine o'clock a.m., then and there to act on the following articles, viz :
ARTICLE 1. To choose a Moderator.
ART. 2. To choose all necessary town officers and grant them such pay for their services as the Town may think proper.
ART. 3. To raise money for the support of the High and common schools.
ART. 4. ' To raise money for the highways, and determine the man- ner of apportioning the same.
ART. 5. To raise such sums of money as may be necessary to defray all town charges for the ensuing year.
ART. 6. To see what compensation shall be allowed the engine men the ensuing year.
ART. 7. To see if the Town will authorize the Treasurer to renew notes now dne.
ART. 8. To see if the Town will authorize the treasurer to hire mon- ey in anticipation of the taxes.
, ART. 9. To see if the Town will direct the treasurer to collect inter- est on all taxes remaining unpaid after they are due.
ART. 10. To see what discount, if any. shall be allowed to those persons who pay their taxes before the prescribed time of payment.
. ""ART. 11. To see if the Town will accept the list of jurors as pre- pared and posted by the Selectmen.
ART. 12. To vote by ballot, Yes or No, upon the following question, to-wit: "Shall licenses be granted for the sale of intoxicating liquors in this town. ? "
ART. 13. To hear and act on the reports of committees.
ART. 14. To see if the Town will take into consideration the subject of commemorating the 250th anniversary of the settlement of this town, which occurs in August. 1884.
ART. 15. To see what action the Town will take in regard to the building and repairing of reservoirs.
ART. 16. To see what action the Town will take in regard to the building of a house for the use of Warren Engine and Mechanic Hose Companies.
"ART. 17. To see if the Town will take measures to enlarge the High street burying ground.
ART. 18. To see what action the town will take in regard to appro- priating money, for decorating soldiers' graves on Memorial day.
ART. 19. To see if the town will make a road on Choate's Hill, so called. beginning at Spring street and extending to the terminus of the land belonging to Augustine Staniford.
ART. 20. To see what action the town will take with regard to the claim of J. W. Bird for damage done during the night of July 3. 1882. 'ART. 21. To see if the Town will provide a pound to be located near the farm of William D. Brackett.
ART. 22. To see if the Town will take any action with regard to prohibiting the digging of clams during the summer months.
And you are hereby directed to serve this warrant by publishing the same once in the Ipswich Chronicle. and posting up attested copies of the same at each of the meeting houses. Town house. and at the school house in the North North District, four days at least before the time of holding said meeting.
Hereot fail not, and make due return of this warrant, with your do- ings thereon to the Town Clerk at the time and place of said meeting.
