REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE ON SCHOOL DISTRICTS OF THE TOWN OF QUINCY.
The committee chosen at a meeting of the inhabitants of the Town of Quincy qualified to vote in town affairs on the 25th day of May, A. D. 1865, to divide the Town into school districts, with instructions to report at the next annual meeting, have attended to the duty assigned them, and respectfully submit the following

The committee recommend that the Town of Quincy be divided by a geographical division of all its territory, into six School Dis- tricts, to be known as the Center District, the South District, the West District, the North District, the Quincy Point District, and the East District, and that the limits of said districts be deter- mined severally as follows, to wit :
THE SOUTH DISTRICT shall comprise all that section of the Town situate within the following lines : Beginning at the intersection of The boundary lines of the Towns of Quincy and Braintree, with the town brook (so called), and running on and along the easterly bank of said brook, crossing said brook at a bridge on Water Street near the house occupied by Richard G. Elliot ; thence in a straight course to a stone post on Granite Street at the corner of the Town's land, near the house now occupied by Jonathan Wil- liams, marked W. D. and S. D .; thence in a straight course to a stake in Adams Street at the corner of a lane near the house of John Thomas, marked C.D., W. D., and S. D. ; thence in a straight course to the Scott's-Pond bridge (so called) in Granite Street ; thence in a straight course to a stone post in Hancock Street near the corner of Canal Street, marked C. D. and S. D. ; thence in a straight course to the bridge in Canal Street ; thence running on and along the southerly bank of the brook to a bridge near the house of the late Edward Miller ; thence in a straight line to a bridge in Elm Street near the corner of South Street ; thence in a straight course to a stake in Quincy Avenue near the house for- merly occupied by Joseph Rundlett, marked S. D. and Q. P. D. ; thence in a straight line to an iron bound set in a stone a few feet

west of the quarry now occupied by Peter B. Mead and E. C. Sar- gent. This district is bounded southerly by the town of Brain- tree, westerly, easterly and northerly by the lines above described.
THE WEST DISTRICT shall comprise all that section of the Town situate west and south of the following lines : Beginning at the intersection of the boundary line of the Towns of Quincy and Braintree, with the Town brook (so-called) before mentioned, and running on and along the westerly bank of said brook to a bridge in Water street, near the house of Richard G. Elliot, before mentioned ; thence in a straight course to a post in Granite street, before mentioned, near the house occupied by Jonathan Williams, marked S. D., W. D .; thence in a straight course to a stake in Adams street, before mentioned, at the corner of a lane near the house of John Thomas, marked C. D .- W. D .- S. D .; thence in a straight course to a tree marked C. D .- N. D. and W. D., on land of W. W. Greenough on the notherly side of the brook running into Black's Creek (so-called) ; thence in a straight course to a stone at the north-easterly angle of the town of Milton. This district is bounded southerly by the towns of Braintree and Randolph, westerly by the town of Milton, easterly and northerly by the lines above described.
THE EAST DISTRICT shall comprise all that section of the Town situate east of the following lines : Beginning at a post marked E. D. and C. D. at the cove near Causeway rocks (so-called) on Sea street ; thence running in a straight course to the westerly point of Cat Island (so-called). This district is bounded northerly and easterly by the bay, southerly and easterly by the town river, and westerly by the'line above described.
THE QUINCY POINT DISTRICT shall comprise all that section of the Town situate within the following lines : Beginning at an iron bound set in a stone before mentioned, a few feet west of the Quarry now occupied by Peter B. Mead and E. C. Sargent ; thence running in a straight course to a stake before mentioned in Quincy Avenue, near the house formerly occupied by Joseph Rundlett, marked S. D. and Q. P. D. ; thence running in a straight course to a. stone post in South street marked Q. P. D. and C. D. northerly of the

house of Calvin W. Perry ; thence in a straight course to a stone post on Washington street near Pond street marked Q. P. D. & C. D. ; thence in a straight line to a stake marked Q. P. D. & C. D., at the margin of the Quincy canal ; thence running on and along the southerly bank of said canal and Town river, to the mouth of said river. This district is bounded northerly by the Quincy canal and Town river, easterly by Weymouth Fore river, southerly by Hayward's creek and the Town of Braintree, and westerly by the lines above described.
THE NORTH DISTRICT shall comprise all that section of the Town situate north and east of the following lines : Beginning at the mouth of Black's creek, before mentioned, and running on and along the northerly bank of said creek to a stake marked C. D. and N. D. ; thence in a straight course to a stake in Hancock street, near the house of William Gregory ; thence in a straight course to a tree, before mentioned, on land of W. W. Greenough ; thence in a straight course to a stone, before mentioned, at the north-east- erly angle of the Town of Milton. This district is bounded northerly by Neponset river, easterly by the bay, southerly and westerly by the Town of Milton and the line above described.
THE CENTER DISTRICT shall comprise all that section of the Town not situate within the districts herein before described and bounded.
The Committee recommend that stone posts be set at the fol- lowing places, viz., -one on Quincy avenue, near the house formerly occupied by Joseph Rundlett, one on Adams street, near the house of John Thomas, and one on Hancock street, near the house of William Gregory, with letters thereon, corresponding to those now marked on stakes occupying the same places.
