The undersigned respectfully submit the following as a re- port of the Cemetery Commissioners of the Town of Saugus for the year ending December 31st, 1909. The within report of the Superintendent of Cemetery is hereby made a part of our report

We think if we can have $2,500 to use in the Cemetery this year we can make a start towards putting out some shade trees there which the place very much needs.

TWENTY-SECOND ANNUAL REPORT

OF THE

Trustees of the Public Library.

In submitting their annual report your Trustees feel that under existing conditions the work this year has been very satisfactory.

More than one half of the entire appropriation was spent directly on books, buying new, rebinding old, and replacing many. We have bought several reference and historical vol- umes which will be of great value to the students in the High School, but we have not room to display them properly.

The matter of giving the Library the use of the second story of the old Town Hall will be brought definitely before the voters at the annual meeting, and your Trustees sincerely hope that for the good of the Library and the Town as a whole, that the citizens will grant this request.

Another thing which your Trustees believe would be for the best interest of the Library, and would mean a saving to the Town, is to allow the Trustees to elect a treasurer and give them complete control of the Library appropriation. This is done in a great many towns and the Library is greatly benefited.

The Trustees wish to express their thanks to the Librarian for her assistance and prompt service during the past year.

We also wish to thank the following persons for donations of books during the year.

Socialist Club, " Must."

Ernest Denman, M. D., " Sex Equality."

Tree Warden's Report.

I have in the past year trimmed the majority of young trees, which needed trimming very badly and have had to take down a few large elm trees which were dead and have removed a large number dead and dangerous limbs in all parts of the Town.

I should recommend the sum of $200 for the care of trees and $100 for setting out trees.

THOMAS E. BERRETT, Tree Warden.
