After opening the course with such models as will give the pupils a general insight into the use of the various tools at their command, every effort will be exerted to adapt the course to the special needs of individuals. Attention is given to both con- struction and applied design. The manual training teacher is

anxious to co-relate his work with that of the drawing teacher so that working drawings may be made of some of the models in order that the pupils may become better acquainted with the former, and thereby save the instructor much valuable time now expended in explanation. Special attention will be given later to staining, shellacing, polishing and finishing of the completed work of pupils. The superintendent of schools, Mr. William F. Sims, has in many ways exhibited his deep interest in this department. I am very grateful for this and the valuable sug- gestions he has given. I very much regret that so few of the parents of the boys have availed themselves of the opportunity to visit this department and see what the pupils are accomplishing. I am very much pleased with the interest shown by a majority of the pupils and the zeal with which they apply themselves to the work before them. There are at present no sanitary arrange- ments in this building. This is a great source of inconvenience, and should receive attention at an early date. I trust that the school committee will take the matter up as soon as it has received the next annual appropriation. I am,

Very respectfully,

S. PERRY CONGDON, Instructor in Manual Training.

CLASS ODE.

WORDS BY C. ETHEL FARNUM.

AIR-RUBENSTEIN'S MELODY IN F.

To-night, dear Classmates, crowns the work Of four short happy years, And since our tasks are all complete, We have no cause for fears.

A strain of sadness fills our hearts, While gathered here to-night, Henceforth our lives lie far apart, Oh! may those lives be bright.

Class 1910 go forth and strive, And win for us a place. Give and receive, do right, fear not, While time moves on apace.

Farewell dear Class of 1910, From all wrong be exempt, And mindful of our motto e'er- " Complete what you attempt."
