The said sum of $7,600.00 is hereby ap- propriated to meet appropriations voted at this meeting as follows :


$6000.00 appropriated under Article 8 of the warrant for this meeting to indemnify firemen or members of the fire department and for fire department expenses.


$750.00 appropriated for street lighting under Article 9 of said warrant.


$500. appropriated for Town Hall expenses under Article 11 of said warrant.


$350 appropriated for Public Works Department, highway, and snow and ice unpaid bills, under Article 10 of said warrant. Yeas 97. Nays 0. 10:39 P. M.

Voted: That the Selectmen be and they are hereby author- ized on behalf of the town to accept a deed to the town grant- ing an easement and right of way for water extension pur- poses over a strip of land approximately 40 feet wide, now or formerly of Metcalf, lying between two unconnected por- tions of Golden Hills Road. Voted: That the action of the Selectmen in accepting on behalf of the town a deed from Carmen Cogliano, et ux., con- veying to the town without consideration a parcel of land containing about 19,354 square feet of land shown as Lot B on a plan by John Dyer, Engr., dated July 25, 1933, duly recorded, be and the same is hereby ratified and that said land be used for public playground purposes. GREETINGS :


In the name of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts you are hereby required to notify and warn the inhabitants of the Town of Saugus qualified to vote in Town Elections and Town affairs to assemble in the Town Hall on Monday Even- ing, October 14, Nineteen Hundred and Thirty-five, at 8 o'clock, to hear and act on the following articles, viz:


ARTICLE 1. To hear and act on reports of Committees.


ARTICLE 2. To see if the Town will vote to authorize the Treasurer, with the approval of the Selectmen, to borrow $20,000 by bond issue or otherwise for the purchase of mater- ials and equipment necessary for the clearing of all streets in this town and to make them passable for travel and to construct gravel sidewalks on said streets, provided that the Federal Government furnishes all the labor without cost to this town, or take any action relative thereto, agreeable to the petition of John J. Mullen and others.


And you are hereby directed to serve this Warrant by post- ing attested copies thereof at the usual places seven days, at least, before the time of holding said meeting.


Hereof, fail not, and make due return of this Warrant, with your doings thereon, to the Town Clerk, at the time and place of said meeting.

Voted: To approve the borrowing by the Treasurer of the Town of Saugus of the sum of Seventy Six Hundred Dollars ($7,600.00) from the Commonwealth of Massa- chusetts under authority of Chapter 49 of the Acts of 1933, as amended by Chapter 313 of the Acts of 1934, and Chapter 300 of the Acts of 1935. The proceeds of this loan are to be used to meet appropriations of Six Thousand Dollars (6,000.00) for Fire Department Ex- penses, Seven Hundred Fifty Dollars ($750.00) for Street Lighting, Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00) for Town Hall Expenses and Three Hundred Fifty Dollars ($350.00) for Public Works Department, Highway, Snow and Ice Unpaid Bills. The notes to be given the Com- monwealth for this money are to bear interest at two and one-half per cent (21/2% ) payable at maturity.

At a meeting of the Emergency Finance Board of the Com- monwealth, held on the 15th day of October, 1935, a majority of said Board being present, the following vote was unani- mously passed :


Voted : To approve the borrowing by the Treasurer of the Town of Saugus of the sum of Forty five Thousand Dollars ($45,000.00) under authority of and in accor- dance with Chapter 188 of the Acts of 1935. The pro- ceeds of this loan are to be appropriated Eighteen Thou- sand Dollars ($18,000.00) for Public Welfare, including Mothers' Aid and Old Age Assistance; Sixty Five Hun- dred Dollars ($6500.00) for Public Welfare Unpaid Bills; Two Hundred Fifty Dollars ($250.00) for Town Infirm- ary Expenses ; Two Hundred Fifty Dollars ($250.00) for Town Infirmary Unpaid Bills; Five Thousand Dollars ($5,000.00) for Soldiers' Relief; and Fifteen Thousand ($15,000.00) for the Town's Share of the Cost of W.P.A. Projects including Administration Expenses and Services. The term of the loan is fixed at not more than ten years.

Dear Sir:


In accordance with the statutes governing the perambula- tion of the boundaries of the Town of Saugus and its con- tingent communities, I beg to report that the Board of Select- men have taken the proper steps under the law.


On Oct. 4, 1935, at the invitation of the City of Lynn, the Board of Selectmen and Supt. Dexter G. Pratt of the public works department viewed the bounds between the City of Lynn and the Town of Saugus. On the same date, the Board viewed the boundaries between the Town of Lynnfield and the Town of Saugus and the City of Revere and the Town of Saugus.


On Oct. 16th, 1935, the Board and Supt. Pratt met with the officials of the City of Melrose and the City of Malden and viewed the bounds between these municipalities and the Town of Saugus.


On Oct. 17th, 1935, the Board with Supt. Pratt and John Dyer, town engineer, viewed the boundaries between the Town of Wakefield and the Town of Saugus with the Board of Selectmen of that town.

Project Funds voted at the Special Town Meeting of Septem- ber 30, 1935, when and if before December 1, 1935 a W.P.A. project or projects are submitted to and approved by the proper Federal authorities, which project or projects shall provide that all the labor for doing this work shall be fur- nished by the Federal government; and further provided that before any work is done on any street or way which is un- accepted, all the abutters on such street or way shall sign sufficient releases of all claims of any nature against the Town arising from or incidental to the performance of the work above described, and that a committee of six citizens, to con- sist of the three members of the Board of Assessors and three citizens to be appointed by the moderator, be appointed to advise with the Board of Selectmen in the carrying out of this project.
