REPORT OF TRUSTEES OF BROOKS' FREE LIBRARY
Through the year 1936 Brooks Free Library has had a circulation of 11,600 books, 2,622 of the number being sent to North, East and South Harwich.
306 books have been added to the library, 70 being non-fiction and 14, gifts.
With two exceptions the magazine list is the same as 1935.
The important event of the year has been the remodel- ing of the building. The lower floor is made over into ample quarters for the district court. Modern heating for the whole building with the exception of an unused room on the second floor has been installed.
The work on the first floor including all heating and plumbing has been accomplished by a W. P. A. project, sup- erintended by the board of selectmen.
Upstairs, by removing a few partitions a beautiful young people's room has been provided. As soon as the children's books are moved to the new stacks, it will be ready for use.
It has been a pleasure to the trustees to prepare a suit- able back ground for the fine collection of Rogers Groups in the room across the hall from the old auditorium.
When the holiday season is over these rooms will be settled and it is hoped that before many weeks pass, the pub- lic will be favored with a special invitation to view the new library quarters.
