SANDERSON BROTHERS NORTH ABINGTON, MASSACHUSETTS
HOWARD BRADFORD WILBUR Born March 27, 1874, died October 13, 1941
Born in West Bridgewater and lived all his life here. Attended the local schools, graduated from Howard High School in 1892. Studied Law in office of the late Judge George D. Alden for one year, after which he attended Boston University for four years. Was admit- ted to the Bar and with Dennis Shearing practiced Law for more than twenty years in Brockton. Was elected Moderator in West Bridgewater in 1899 and continued in that position with one year exception until his death. He always took a lively interest in Town affairs.
Mr. Wilbur was a member of St. George Lodge, A. F. & A. M., the Shedad Grotto, President of the local Parish Unitarian Church, and for several years was President of the Men's Club of the same church.
Well liked by all, always willing to assist those in distress - many times to his own cost - the Town will miss him.
HERVEY DUNHAM Born September 23, 1853, died January 11, 1942
Born in Abington, Mr. Dunham lived in West Bridge- water for 35 years. At the time the charter was granted, 1910, to install a Water System, Mr. Dunham was elected a Water Commissioner and served as Chairman for thirty years until 1940 when he resigned.
Faithful to his duties always in this position, as in all others in private enterprises as well as in Public affairs.
For 71 years an ardent member of the Y. M. C. A., affiliated with St. George Lodge, A. F. & A. M., American Order of Odd Fellows, Porter Congregational Church, Trustee for years and until his death of the Howard Seminary.
He served an unusual long life of public service.
Of a kindly disposition, firm in the right as he saw it, he lived for service of all mankind.

TOWN CLERK'S REPORT
ANNUAL MEETING, MARCH 3, 1941
A meeting duly warned of the inhabitants of West Bridgewater qualified to vote in election and Town af- fairs was held in the Town Hall at West Bridgewater, Monday, March 3, 1941, at nine o'clock in the forenoon, and the following is a record of the doings of said meeting :
The meeting was called to order by the Moderator, Howard B. Wilbur, and after Article 1 of the Warrant had been read by the Town Clerk, that is to elect the following officers for the Town by ballot, the Moderator declared the meeting opened to elect the following: One Town Clerk for one year; one Moderator for one year; one Assessor for three years, one Selectman for three years, one member of Board of Public Welfare for three years, one Treasurer for one year, one Water Commissioner for three years, two School Committee for three years, one School Committee for two years to fill vacancy, two Trustees of Public Library for three years, one Tree Warden for one year, two Constables for one year.
The Election Officers were duly sworn in by the Town Clerk to the faithful performance of their duties and were as follows: Louis Hayden, Helen Ross, Arthur Ryder, Albert Snow, Dorothy Eckstrom, Daniel Otter, Margaret Brown, Francis Luddy, Elizabeth Smith, Lulu Gardner, Grace Keenan, Mary Pratt.
The ballot box was inspected by the police officer in charge and found to be empty. The register was then set at zero. One thousand five hundred ballots were delivered to the Moderator by the Town Clerk and receipts given for same.

At nine o'clock a.m. the Moderator declared the polls open for casting ballots. At eight o'clock p.m. the Mod- erator declared the polls closed.
The Moderator with the police officer in charge counted the unused ballots and announced that the · number of ballots cast, 878, tallied with the count of votes from the check list, also with the dial numbers shown on the ballot box.
The ballots having been counted, sorted, and com- puted, as is by law required, the Moderator then de- clared the vote.

Following a vote taken at Annual Town Meeting held March 3, 1941, the adjourned meeting was called to order by the Moderator, Howard B. Wilbur. The read- ing of the articles in the warrant was upon vote waived.
Article 2.
To choose Town Officers for the ensuing year not elected on the Official Ballot.
The following named were by vote of meeting chosen :
Surveyors of Lumber, Wood and Bark-Robert G. Dean, Fred G. Chisholm, James A. Hemenway. Albert A. Howard, Chester R. Ripley.

To hear the reports of all Town Officers and Com- mittees and act thereon.
Moved and carried that the reports be accepted.

Article 4.
To see if the Town will vote to authorize the Town Treasurer with the approval of the Selectmen, to bor- row money from time to time in anticipation of the revenue of the financial year beginning January 1, 1941, and to issue a note or notes therefor, payable within one year, and to renew any note or notes as may be given for a period of less than one year in accordance with Section 17, Chapter 44, General Laws.
On motion this article was carried.
Article 5.
To raise such sums of money as may be necessary to defray the Town charges for the ensuing year, and make appropriations for the same.

To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate a sum of money for the improvement of Streets; and said money to be used in conjunction with any money which may be allotted by the State or County, or both, for this purpose; or take any other action in relation thereto.
Moved: That the Town vote to raise and appropriate a sum not to exceed $3,000.00 for the improvement of Streets; said money to be used in conjunction with any money which may be allotted by the State or County, or both, for this purpose; Town share to be not over one-fourth total amount.
The motion was carried.

To see if the Town will vote to appropriate a sum of $50.00 for a clinic by the School Physician to immu- nize school children and pre-school children against diphtheria.

Article 9.
To see if the Town will install one street light on South Elm Street at a point near MacDonald Brook, and raise and appropriate a sum of money for the same.
On vote, the article was passed.

Article 10.
To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate a sum of money for the installation of at least two Street Lights on Wall Street, or take any other action relative thereto. (By request, and petition.)
It was voted to raise and appropriate the sum of $18.00 to install one light on Wall Street. Carried.
Article 11.
To see if the Town will vote to install three (3) street lights in Cochesett at the following places: Crescent Street opposite High Street, High Street opposite Friend, and the corner of High and Church Streets.
Moved to raise and appropriate the sum of $36.00 for the installation of two lights, one at the corner of High and Crescent Streets; and the other at the corner of High and Friend Streets. Motion carried.
Article 12.
To see if the Town will vote to install four (4) street lights on Prospect Street, raise and appropriate money for the same.
Moved and voted to raise and appropriate the sum of $54.00 for the installation of three (3) Street Lights on Prospect Street. Carried.
Article 13.
To see what amount the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for the use of Plymouth County Trustees for County Aid to Agriculture (Plymouth County Ex- tension Service) and choose a Town Director as pro- vided in Sections 41 and 42 of Revised Chapter 128 of the General Laws and act thereon.

Article 14.
To see if the Town will raise and appropriate a sum of money for maintenance of Plymouth County Hos- pital, under provisions of Chapter 111, Section 85, of the General Laws.
On motion this article was carried in the amount of $1,949.33.
Article 15.
To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate the sum of $300.00 for maintenance of Visiting Nurse Service in West Bridgewater.
On motion and vote the article was carried.
Article 16.
To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate a sum of money to install septic tank, two flush bowls and one lavatory in the Public Library.
Upon vote this article was passed.
Article 17.
To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate the sum of $50.00 for the purpose of preserving the Town Records.
On vote this article was carried.
Article 18.
To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate a sum of money for Federal Projects Expenses.
On vote this article was carried in the amount of $7,076.00.

To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate a sum not exceeding $3,500.00 to install a modern, ade- quate heating plant in the Sunset Avenue School.

Article 20.
To see what action the Town will take upon the peti- tion of the Matfield Women's Club in regard to sale of Town land upon which the building now owned by them is located. Building was formerly known as the portable school building.
