REPORT OF CHIEF OF POLICE.

Patrolmen.

Garret J. Cody, John Duffy,

Daniel M. Hooley, Andrew Irwin,

Charles H. Woods, James E. Whitten.

The Chief and one patrolman are on duty in the daytime ; during the night, one sergeant and five patrolmen are on duty.

Illegal Liquor Business.

We have done our best to enforce the liquor law and in every case where we could obtain sufficient evidence prose- cutions have been made, but in order to successfully prose- cute, we must have sufficient evidence, otherwise our efforts are worse than useless.

The liquor that has been seized and forfeited by the court, has been turned over to the Chief of the Massachu- setts District Police.

Changes.

During the past year two officers have been appointed, James E. Whitten and Charles H. Woods, thereby in- creasing the force by two men ; two new night routes have been made and the new men assigned to them. I now think that the town is as well protected as any town in this vicinity.
