Our circulation for the year was 1604, 1231 fiction and 373 non-fiction, an increase over last year.
We have added about 122 new volumes, 87 by purchase and 35 by gift. The State Library Commission continues its benefactions with attractive children's books which are much appreciated. The Commission also very generously offers to secure the loan of any works of adult non-fiction which our patrons may desire.

Forestry
As there was no appropriation for Town Forests this year, the activities of the Town Forest Committee have been limited. We have recently looked over the plantings of the past few years, and found them in the main, thriving and making a sat- isfactory growth, though, in the wetter areas some failed to live.
The older pines-self seeded-are making a good growth, but need some pruning.
In the five years, 1927-31, 3,200 white pine seedlings and 2,600 Norway spruce have been planted on three lots.
Further thinning and pruning of young pines back of the Washington Street Cemetery has been done under Mr. Bow- ker's direction and seven cords of wood sold on the stump, bringing $10.50, which has been added to the permanent Cem- etery fund.
On December 6, we took part in a forest tour, conducted by the county extension agent, with Mr. Parmenter of the State Forester's office, and Mr. Brockway, the white pine blister rust agent, as demonstrators, visiting several wood lots in Bridgewater and Middleboro. This tour was intended to be for the benefit of wood lot owners, and all those known to the county agent to be interested as such, were notified by cir- cular from his office, but none attended from Norwell except cur committee. A considerable number from other places were present at the meetings in Middleboro.
Respectfully submitted,
FRED B. COCHRAN, FRED M. CURTIS, CLIFTON S. DEANE.

EIGHTY-THIRD ANNUAL REPORT
Auditor's Report
January 25, 1933
Board of Selectmen,
Norwell, Massachusetts.
Gentlemen :
I have examined the books of the Tax Collector, Town Treasurer, and Trust Fund Bank Books and am listing below the results of my audit-
COLLECTOR'S BOOKS
The collector's books for the years 1929-1930-1931 and 1932 were examined and revealed the following :
1. Commitments agreed with corresponding warrant after minor adjustments were made.
2. Cash Books were found to be in balance as schedule will reveal. All receipts were checked and found to have been credited to the correct accounts in the Commitment Books.
3. Abatements were checked and found to be supported by vouchers corresponding to amounts shown on the books.
4. Vouchers showing payments to Treasurer were checked with the Treasurer's Receipt Book and were found to be in accord. Due to the fact that there were two collectors during the year 1932, the total amount Received from the Collector shown in the Treasurer's Report will not be in accord with amounts shown on Collector's Report as hav- ing been paid the Treasurer, due to the fact that Collector is reporting nine months' work, the Treasurer reporting a full year.
