REPORT OF THE BOARD OF HEALTH
By the time that this report is printed the new Town Dump should be in operation. This is located between South Street and State on the Eastside of Main Street. While this spot is not entirely ideal, the board hopes that it will be the means of effec- tively solving the problem of where one may dump his refuse legally. Once this has been established, a concerted effort will be made to prevent dumping at other spots. Article VI, Section 7, expressly forbids the promiscuous dumping of rubbish in and off the ways of the Town.
Your Board has received many requests from residents to have their well water tested. This service is given by the State Board of Health upon request of your local Board of Health. There is no charge for this service.
Your Board of Health has purchased the apparatus necessary for the pre-school innoculations. It is planned to hold a clinic for all pre-school children sometime this spring.
Dr. Joseph Risoli has continued to be Agent for the Board. All applications for Milk, Ice Cream manufacturing, Over Night Cabins, and Burial Permits, should be made to him. Also all reportable diseases should be reported to him.
A very prominent odor has been present in Town quite regularly for the past year and a half. This is present in various parts of Town depending which way the wind is blowing. It is particularly bad in the Wamesit section, but also is at times very strong in West Tewksbury, North Tewksbury and Tewksbury Center. The Board would like an expression of opinion as to what should be done about this' odor, if anything, and in order to bring this subject before the voters, an article will be placed in the warrant for the Annual Town Meeting.
Respectfully submitted, WILLIAM B. CARTER, Chairman VICTOR N. CLUFF EDWARD J. SULLIVAN
