de the subscribers then met and laid out a road from the half acre of land belonging to the heirs of Mr. Samuel Parris joining on Weston bounds, beginning Northerly of the barn and so a straight line up the valley a pine tree marked standing on the south side the highway and so on another pine tree marked, and so on another pine tree marked, and so on another pine tree marked standing in a valley; and so on another pine tree marked and so on another pine tree marked and so on another pine tree marked , and so on as the cart path now goes till it comes into the highway that goes at the head of the lots, leading from Elisha Rice's and the highway is laid out two rods wide all the way from the aforesaid half acre of land on the north side of all the aforesaid trees marked.

We the subscribers laid out the way from the hill at Joseph Parmenters barn from the County road by Mr. Sanders land, and so on between the land of Jonathan Grout and Bonjamin Parmenter and so between said Parmenter land by Joseph Parmenters land, so on between the land of Jonathan Grout, and so on as the cart path now goes through James Poutels land into the road leading across pine plains and all the way from the county road at Joeph Parmenters hill two rods wide till it comes to Jumes Boutels dwelling house.

Sudbury, June 14, 1725. Ne the subscribers laid out a highway from Concord Road across pine plains to the County road by Ensign Livermores.


Beginning at Ephraim Curtis and so the highway is laid out at the west end of Curtis land and so between the land of said Thomas Taylor and between the land of James Boutel and between the land of said Boutel and Sergt. John Grout and so on, on the west side of marked trees and so on as the cart path goes between the land of Elisha Rice, and so on as the cart path goes till it comes into the County road by Weston bounds.


The way is laid out all the way from Concord road four roda wide excepting at Elisha Rices dam and there as the fence now stands.

Sudbury, May 25th., 1726. The selectmen of said town then met and laid out the highway as followeth.


Beginning at the highway laid out by the Selectmen of Sudbury by Capt. Saml Abbotts, and into Concord road beginning at the north side of the hill next to Abbotts a pine tree marked on the northeasterly side of said way and so the highway is laid out where the cart path now goes, and on the southwesterly side of marked trees till it comes to Concord road and so crossing said road and still on the southwesterly side of marked trees, over the brook below the old saw mill belonging to Benjamin and John Moore, and still on in the southwesterly side of marked trees between the land of Jonathan Griffin, and on between the land of said Griffin and the of Ephraim Curtis, and so the way goes on the southwesterly side of marked trees all the way till it comes to Thomas Cuttings; so between the land of Thomas Cutting and the land of Daniel Dean, and so by the land of Thomas Allen and still on the southwesterly side of marked trees till it comes to a pine

And the said hig way is nowhere less than two rods wide, and the rest of the way to be three or four rods wide, as the Proprietors of Sudbury left the land for the highway.


Also laid out a highway from Concord road by the side of Ephraim Curtis field as the cart path now goes between the land of Capt. Ephraim and the land of said Curtis and Thomas Moore and so on as the cart path now goes between the land of Thomas Moore and the land of Jon- athan Griffin by the dwelling house of Thomas Moore, and the dwelling house of Jonathan Griffin and so on as the curt path now goes between the land of Jonathan Griffin and the land of Thomas Moore, and so on between Griffin's land till it comes into the above said highway going to Elisha Rice's.


And the highway is laid out all the way from Concord road till it comes into the above said highway in no place less than two rods wide and all the rest of the way as the Proprietor of Sudbury have left land to accommodate a highway.

Sudbury, September the 10th., 1728. . The subscribers Selectmen of Sudbury laid out a highway from the County road by the dwelling house of Mr. Joseph Moore, as the cart path now goes by the dwelling house of Mr. John Hoar, till it comes into the road formerly laid out by the Selectmen of Sudbury on the Southerly side of Sergt. James Brewers field leading to Concord.


Beginning by Joseph Moores dwelling house and up the lane between the land of said Moore, and between the land of David Baldwin and the land of Moses Maynard on the southerly side of Mr. John Hoar's land and land of Mr. James Brewer, so on the southerly side of sd. Brewersfield until it comes to Concord road.


The said highway is laid out three rods wide all the way excepting between the land of Mr.Hoar and the land of Mr. James Brewer and there as the fences now stand.

over a small brook easterly of Robert Cuttings dam and so westerly. bounded at that place and so on northerly running as the cart path now is having the marks of said way on the Westerly side to the County road so called near to and southerly from the dwelling house of Nathaniel Hasey. Then turning westerly from said county road until said way comes to or against the land of Zachariah Heard. Then turning out of said county road northwesterly between the land of said Heard, and land belonging to said Jonathan Grouts heirs, northerly bounded on said Heards land including the cart path until said way comes into a small walnut marked, standing in or near said Heards stone wall partly down a hill, and so on down said hill by and on the southerly and easterly side of said Heards stone wall until said way comes against the fenced pasture land of Mr. Joseph Wait, and then turning something more northerly as the cart path now is down said hill by and on the easterly side of said Waits pasture fence running over a small brook at the bottom of said hill, and so on to the northerly corner of said lait's pasture fence, and so bounded save at said small brook said way is laid out half a rod westerly into and within said Waits now standing fence and from said brook southerly to come to a shoar, without said fence at three rods, and northerly to come to a shoar without said fence five rods, and fran said northerly corner of said Waits pasture fence northerly running to a small white oak marked on the westerly side of said way.


And from thence northerly running to a stake and stones and from thence on northwesterly running as the way now is made through the land of Peter Bent having the marks of said way on the southwesterly side until said way comes into the road leading to a place called farm end and near to and southeasterly from said loter Bents now dwelling house. Note the above way was laid out and is to be three rods wide from end to end except at the elbow coming down the aforesaid hill and there said way was laid out and is to be four rods wide, all which is submitted unto the said Town for their acceptance and confirmation.

At a Selectmens meeting in Sudbury, Jany.31, 1731-2, the sub- scribers laid out a highway from the County road by Mr.Heards to Zebediah Allen's and into the highway laid out across pine plains by said Allens beginning said highway at a stake standing in Elisher Rices fence marked on the southerly side of the highway. The highway is laid out three rods wide on the north of said stake and marked pine trees. Between said marked trees and the land of James Graves and so a stake and marked standing in Joseph Goodnows fence on the south side of said way and a pine tree markod at the east end of Edward Grouts ditch, and so on between Edward Grouts ditch and land of John Grout, and so

turning by Edward Grouts ditch between the land of Edward Grout and land of Jona. Grout, so on all the way from where we began three rods were till it comes to the southerly end of Edward Grouts draw bars, and from said draw bars five rods wide on the westerly side of Edward Grouts ditch till it comes to the foot of the hill, and then two rods wide across a valley to Joseph Goodnows land a straight line from the southwest corner of Edward Grout's land to a stake marked in Joseph Goodnows fence on the east side of said way and is laid out three rods wide on the west side of said Goodnows land to a post marked in said Goodnows fence to the county road, and from said post in said Goodnows turning westward including the cart path going from said Goodnows ! fence to Mr. Heards dwelling house till it comes into the County road.

Sudbury, February 10th., 1731 - 2. We the subscribers laid out a highway from the new highway from Mr. Heards to Zebadiah Allens over Whales bridge.


Beginning by said new highway, a pine stump marked on the south side side of said way and so on between the land of Jonathan Grout and land of John Grout three rods wide to the turning of the way including the cart path bounded by marked trees on the east side of the east side of the way and the now standing fence of Benjamin Parmenter and so in- cluding all the land not yet laid out till it comes into the county road by Amos Sanderson's and Benjamin Parmenters.

. At a meeting of the Selectmen of Sudbury, Feby. 1, 1734-5. At the desire of Benjamin Dudley, the subscribers were of opinion that it is best for the highway to go in said Dudley's land as followeth. Beginning towards the southerly side of said Dudley's land turning northeasterly by a white oak tree marked for said highway and on the southeasterly side of said way and so on rising ground till it comes to Saml. Gould's land having marked trees on the southeasterly side of said way, and so said highway was laid out in a cart path in said Dudley's land, having the land of Samuel Gould on the easterly side of said way till it comes to the northwest corner of said Goulds land, and on in said Dudley's land a straight line till it comes into the highway formerly laid out by the selectmen of Sudbury.


Sid highway is bounded as above expressed and is laid out all the way two rods wide in said Dudley's land.


The said Benjamin Dudley to clear the new way laid out und to give the land in exchange for the old way formerly laid out, from where the new way began to where it ends.

We the subscribers selectmen of Sudbury have laid out a highway on the easterly side of the river in Sudbury beginning at the road leading to Concord at a place called or known by the name of Whales Bridge for to be four rods on the westerly side of said bridge or brock, and two rod on each side of the old road into the said brook, so across said brook leading to the pine plain, and from said brook to a white oak tree marked near the top of the hill, so to a white oak stump on the hill from thence to a pine marked and from thence to another pine marked and from thenc. to another pine marked, and from thence to another pine marked, and so to the road going to Elisha Rices to Weston, which irks in the northeasterly side of the road, which road is to be two rods wide from the easterly side of said bridge or brook till it striketh the old road to Elisha Rices.

At a meeting of the Town of Sudbury legally warmed, by ad- journment from March the first said Town by a vote accepted of this re- turn so far as to make the above said way, a ranging way for conveniency of passing and repassing and for watering at the above named Whalos Bridge.

We the subscribers have laid out a way or road leading from the new bridge near Mr. Joseph Stones into the roud which leads from Framingham to Mr. Joseph Livermores marked, as follows; beginning near said bridge at a red oak marked on the south side of said way, thence to a walnut in the fence thence to a stake; thence to a grey oak, thence to a grey oak, so a straight line across a corner of said Adams Stones field to a stake. Thence ditto. thence to a pine, thence to a pine stub, thence to a pine, to a grey oak, thence to a grey oak, thence to a grey oak , then the marks on the north side of the said road, first a pine, then a white oak, ditto. thence to a black oak in Mr. Jason Gleasons land, thence to a grey oak, ditto. then the marks on the south side of said road, beginning at a pine on a ditch thence to' a large white onk, then on Mr. Benjamin Stows land to a white oak, then to a pine, and to a black oak, thenco to a stake to a stub. Then to a stake near said Stows barn, thence to a stake, then to a grey oak near the road leading from Framingham to Mr. Joseph Livermore, and so in to said roado

The above said boundaries marked and the above said way is laid out mostly as the old road now goes from said new bridge to said framingham road, said road being two rods wide except going up the hill by said Adam Stones house and there to be three rods wide. The above said way is without any charge of buying any land.


At the request of Mir. Moses Maynard and others of lotments of meadow called Ledge meadow desiring a highway to their meadows from the County road near the Town bridge to the meadow of Lt . John Noyes within the fence parting the said meadow lots and the meadow of Eliab Moore &c.


The Selectmen of Sudbury accordingly met and laid out or orened a way two rods wide, beginning at the County road near to the great town bridge and bounded the said way easterly by the ditch and fence of Capt. Joshua Haynes all the way till it comes to the rence parting the meadow of Eliab Moore and said Noyes' meadow Jots, said highway is laid out or opened two rod wide all the way extending two rods westerly all the way from Capt. Joshua Haynes field fence to accomodate said meadow lots.

Sudbury, July 13th., 1743.


At the request of Joseph Goodnow and others to have part o. a highway between Joseph Goodnow's dwelling house and the highway, and the highway leading from the Whales Bridge to Zebadiah Allens discontinued, and laid out through Joseph Goodnow's field that was formerly Edward Grout's in lieu thereof. .


We the subscribers accordingly met and viewed the way that part that they desired to be discontinued, and also viewed the new way proposed, and are of the opinion that the new way proposed will accommo- date the traveling as well as where it now goes, and accordingly turned said highway through said field for their accommodation, beginning at the hill on rising ground northerly of said Goodnow's house at a stake and stones, in said Joseph Goodnow's fence, the highway is laid out on the north side of said stake, and stones, and so on in said field to a stake and stones at the turn of said way, the way is laid out on the northerly side of said stako and stones, and so on in the same field northerly to a wild cherry trec marked, near to a tall pine tree, said cherry tree . Lands in or by said Goodnow's field fonce on the southerly side of the highway leading from Whales bridge to Zachariah Allens, and is laid out on the westerly side of snid cherry tree and is laid all the way through said field two rods wide, excepting at the stake and stones in the middle of said field, the highway is laid out two rods and a half wide.

Also a highway on the east side of the river in Sudbury, beginning at a rock near the brook at the north side of a hill called Castle Hill and running over said hill as the path is now trod and the trees marked on the west side of said way until it comes to the way that leads from Daniel Moore's to Concord, and is one rod wide.


Sudbury, 28th., December 1750.


1 son Road The Selectmen of Sudbury laid out a highway beginning at a pair of bars near the east end of the Widow Drummonds now dwelling house from thenco running northeasterly as the path is now trod, and by a heap of stones, a little within the sd. Widow Drummond's fence, and two tree's markod standing in the fence of the said Widow Drummonds, said marks are on the easterly side of said way, still as the way is now trod, and by a stake and stones, and by a small pine tree marked on the westerly side of said way, so on till it comes to the southerly end of Joshua Wheelers field near the southeasterly corner of said field, so running southerly of said field till it comes to the southeasterly corner of said field then turning southerly across said highway to a stake and stones the southwesterly corner of said Wheeler's land, so running easterly on the bounds of said Wheeler's land, and southerly bounds of said way till it comes to a pine tree marked noar suil bounds, then turning northeasterly across said Wheeler's land to a small oak marked, so on near the said point to a white oak tree marked, across said way and running easterly, then turning a stake and stones standing on the southerly side of said way in the line between Mr. Joshua Wheelers and Mr. Jonathan Shermans land, the said stake and stones being the northwesterly bounds of saj.l way, still running near the sd. point and bounded southerly on said Shermans fence till it comes to land laid out by the selectmen of Concord for a highway by said Shermans now dwelling house.


Likewise a slip or gore of land adjoining to land laid out by the said Selectmen of Concord for the use of a highway as namely.


Beginning at the last mentioned stake and stones from thenco running northwesterly to a small birch marked, being on the ditch bank at Concord line. The said piece of land is bounded northerly on Concord said line, southerly on the above said highway south of said stake and stones, the said highway to be one rod and a half in width.


Also a highway beginning at a point where Concord line leaves said Jonathan Shermans south field, so running westerly and adjoining to a slip of land laid out by said Concord selectmen for the use of a highway, adjoining to the said slip to make it one rod and a half in width from thore x running with the line, between said Sherman and Thomas Barney as far as they join, and one half of said way on each side of said line; so on as the way is now trod till it comes to a small applw tree. then turning into said Barney's field, where the way formerly went about eight or nine rods, then turning out of said field into the road now trod, so running in the road by the said Barney's dwelling house and so running as the way is now trod through L'r. Daniel Farrars farm to an old trod way from Sudbury to Concord,


The above mentioned highway to be one rod and a half in

Sudbury, February the 11th., 1752.


At the request of Amos Sanderson to have a Town way by his dwelling house a little altered for the conveniency of setting a barn and the selectmen on said day turned the way beginning at a small cherry tree on the west side of his house by his rail fence and so running easterly to a heap of stones on an old ditch bank, and so on easterly on said ditch bank, to the east end of said ditch bank.


And from the east end of said ditch a str icht line to a rail standing on the west end of a stone wall alonging to Zebachiah Allen. Said marks are all on the north side of said way andto give to said Amos Sanderson in exchange for his land taken from him to accommodate the afore- said new way & c.

At the request of several of the inhabitants of said Town for a highway on the east side of the river in said town on Pine Plain so called. We the subscribers met, viewed, and laid out the Town way leading from Mr. Griffins by Thomas Allens, and beginning at Pelatiah Deans northeast corner and so running westerly on the north side of said Deans field, two rods wide, where the Proprietors left land for a highway, so running westerly where said proprietors left land, till it comes to Mr. Eliab Moore's north corner formerly called John Adams north corner, and so on as the cart path now goes on the northwest side of said Moore's now standing fence so on as the cart path now goes on the north side of Jonathan Underwood's now standing fence, till said way comes into a Town way laid out from the training field by Ephraim Curtis across Pine Plains by Lieut. Rices to Weston the aforesaid way is two rods wide & c.

Sudbury, February 6th., 1753.


We the subscribers laid out a Town ay from the three ponds so called on the east side of Sudbury River on Pine Plain, where the Proprietors left land for a highway by the three ponds, to grass pond beginning at the corner of Mfr.Jonathan Griffins land so running south westerly by land in the possession of Joseph Curtis, as the cart path now goes by said Curtis land, and so on by land claimed by William Fay, Esq., till it comes in to the way by Mr. Eliab Moore's north corner. Said way is laid out all the way one rod and a half wido.

The selectmen then laid out a road leading from Lincoln to Mr. Samuel Abbotts as followeth, viz. Beginning at a stake and stones in Lincoln bounds, near Spruce Swamp as called, then running easterly by Lincoln line through Mr. Josiah Farrars' land and Mr. John Bruce's land and part of Mr. Pratt's farm, to a small white oak marked standing in an old ditch between Josiah Farrar's land and Lt. Samuel Farrar's land, then running southerly through Mr. Pratt's land, till it comes to a large pine tree marked, near Mr. Josiah Farrar's house, then to a small grey oak marked, then to Mr. Farrar's fence. Said way is one rod and a half wide on the southerly side of said bounds, then turning southeastwardly by said Farrars fence, till it comes to a grey oak tree marked, standing in a fence between Mr.Farrar's land, and Mr. Samuel Abbott's land, then by said. Abbott's land and a fence till it comes to a stake and stones in the corner of said Abbott's fence.
