At the request of Capt. David Baldwin to have a way laid out through his land near the old Town bridge to Ledge Meadow so called, the selectmen met on said day and laid out the way as follows, vis.
Beginning at a stake and stones near the old Town bridge, from thence running as the fence now stands till it comes to Ledge meadow, said way to be two rods wide on the west side of said fence.
Sudbury, Nov. 2, 1762. At the request of Mr. Josiah Farrar to have that Town way altered which goes east and west by his house to Lincoln bounds & c. The selectmen met and after they had viewed the way they altered and laid it out the other way as follows, vis.
Beginning at a small pine marked standing near a large dead pine which stands near the road that leads to Concord about fifteen rods south of said Farrar's house, said Town way runs from marked trees, east by marked trees and by the land of Josiah Farrar till it comes to Lincoln bounds, said Town way to be two rods wide on the northerly side of said marked trees.

At a meeting of the Selectmen of the said Town, we the sub- scribers have laid out a highway/beginning at a rock at the end of a road laid out by the selectmen over Castle Hill near Isaac Woodwards' and so over the brook northwardly to the westwardly side of said Woodward's spring, and so on to the northeast covner of said Woodward's garden as the fence now stands, and from thence northwardly a straight line to a heap of stones near Timothy Shermans house one rod and a half from the corner of Woodwards orchard fence, and from thence northwestwardly as the road was formerly trod to the Town highway from Shermans bridge to Abbotts.
The width of the way is one rod and a half wide agreeable to the request of Mr. Joseph Sherman and others.

Beginning at a walnut tree marked at said County road and joining to the land of Mr. Samuel Parris, and so by sail Samuel Parris land (2) to a black oak & (3) to a black oak (4) to a crooked black oak (5) to a black oak (6) to a black oak (7) to a bl ck oak (8) to a black oak (9) to a small walnut tree (10) to a walnut tree near Mr. Parris gate (11) to a small walnut tree standing in said Parris fence and so as the fence standeth to the corner of Mr. Waits stone wall, and from thence to an apple tree marked and so as Mr. Waits fence stands on the westerly side of said highway until it comes to the land of Peter Bent and as the fence standeth against said Bents land until it comes to the brook, one rod below the bridge called new bridge. the abovesaid highway not to be less' than three rods wide at any place, and in consideration of the softness of the land against the corner of the stone Wall between Mr. Joseph Waits and "fr. Samuel Farris, the said highway is not to be less than four rods wide or as the fence now stands on both sides of the said highway .

At a meeting of the inhabitants of the Town of East Sudbury legally assembled March 6th., 17980
The Town by their vote requested their selectmen to examine the road between Mr. Edward K. Walcotts and William Bracketts horses and know the terms on which they can widen the road, and if the Town are not agreeable to them, to search the Records and report their doings to the Town at the adjournment.
Then the Town adjourned their meeting to the third Monday in March inst. at three of the clock P.M. at the same pi ce.
March 19th. Then met according to adjournment and proceeded to accept the Report of their Selectnen provided the. owners of the land agree to said report by signing the same, which report was afterwards signed and is as follows.
We the subscribers being chosen a committee by the Town of East Sudbury at their meeting on the fifth instant for the purpose of sering w'ether it is necessary to widen the road letwoon "r. Edward K. Walcotts house and Mr. William Bracketts house afu know the terms on which said lands may be obtained if necessary, and our report is as follows.
That we think it necessary to widen the bridge near Mr. Walcotts thirteen feet eastwardly and the road on said Walcotts meadow us the stake now stands, being fourteen feet in the center of the bow in consideration of the Town building the wall on said eadow; he, the said "alcott finding the stores therefor on the spot.
Also to widen the road on the Ross land (so called) belonging to the Widow Anna Noyes as the stakes now stand, it being about nino fect on the Widow Hour's line, in consideration of the Town moving and resetting the wall.
Also to widen the road on the Widow Hoars land, at a stake on the line between the Widow Hoyes land aforesaid and said Widow Hoars land; thenco east to a stake four feet north of the north west corner of the house John Brackett now lives in, thence easterly to two feet south of the appletree, and so on to the fifth post in the fence on the road, in consideration of the Town rocing and resetting the fence.
Also to widen the road on Ebenezer Wiley's land, beginning on the fence west of his house twenty four feet, thence straight to the second elm tree from said house to the south end of the beam house, thence on as the stakes now stand to William Bracketts land four feet, being twelve feet in the center of the bow, in consideration of the Town moving and resetting the fence and continuing the drain by a borod log. Also to widen on William Bracketts land from Wileys' land as the stakes now stand in consideration of moving and resetting the fence.

men. We the subscribers selectmen of the Town of East Sudbury have viewed the road betwixt Lt. William Wyman and Mr. William Bracketts, and found it necessary that said road should be widened and straightened, and did agree as follows.
Beginning at the crop fence, the first post next to the road be- twixt the Widow Hannah Pools and Mrs. Noyes, and running eastwardly to an old stump about three feet from the wall by the road and so on straight to the apple trees and then to the eastwardly gate post by said road and barnyard of said Wyman.
The consideration for the land the Town is to remove and reset the fence.

Beginning at the county road aforesaid and running southeasterly by Mr. Baldwins wall to a stake and stones, it being about sixty rods. Thence southwest to a stake and stones at said Cuttings wall. At a meeting of the inhabitants of the Town of East Sudbury legally assembled May 5th., 1800.
The Town by their vote discontinued the old road as mentioned in the article and accepted the new one agreeable to the report of the Selectmen which was as follows.
We the subscribers selectmen of East Sudbury have this day laid out a road, beginning a little this side of William Johnsons gate to the County road at the Five Paths so called, to be one rod wide from the east cart rut, and one rod wide from the west cart rut all the way. The owners having signed an acquittance to the land, the Town to be at no ex- pense but to discontinue the old road.

Agreeable to the order of the Town the last meeting, we the subscribers have this day laid out a road from Mr. Zachariah Heard gate to the County road by the meetinghouse.
Beginning at Mr. Zach Heard North gate poot as it now stands a straight line to an appletree about thirteen rods from thence straight line to a stake four and a half rods, from thence to an appletrer straight line about thirteen rods, from thence a straight line twenty one rods to a stake in the ditch bank on the division line between Zach Heards and David Heards. From thence straight line about twenty five rods to another stake, from thence a straight line eighteen and a half rods to the corner of a wall, from thence about thirty one rods to a stake nearly front of the house of Misses Richard and David Heards a straight line from thence a straight line to another stake in the west end of an old ditoh bank fourteen and half rods from there on the old ditch bank to the top of a small hill at south west end of the causeway about thirty two rods from thence to the rocks and as the rocks now lie on said causeway to a small swamp white oak on the cast side of the bridge about forty six rods from thence, from thence twenty three rods to a stake a straight line from thence, a straight line to a stake on the line between Messrs. Heards and Bryants land about twenty six rods; from thence a straight line about thirty seven rods to a stake and an appletree marked in said Briants land; from thence straight line to a stake thirty six rods; from thence thirteen rods a straight line to a stake on the line between Loker and Briant from thence to a stake at the south end of the shed by the meeting house eighteen rods through said Lokers land to the County road.
The road to be two rods wide all the way south of the aforementioned bounds.
The Mess. Heard give their land and as we could not agree with Mr. Loker and Mr. Briant for their damages, ve have estimated their damage to Mr. Ebeneser Loker at Sixty five dollars, and to Mr. Joel Briant at two hundred and sixty dollars.

At a meeting of the inhabitants of the Town of East Sudbury legally assembled June 23, 1800.
To see if the Town will make a bridle way of the road from Nathaniel Reeves, Esq., barn to the head of the river meadows, or do or act as the Town shall see fit when met.
The Town voted that their selectmen act discretionary on this article of bridling the said road to one and one half rods wide with suf- ficient gates in good repair and report at the next meeting.
Your committee chosen to agree w: Mr. Briant on the sub- ject of the road agreeable to the sixth article of the warrant for May meet- ing beg leave to report as follows; That "'r. Briant will allow the Town thirty dollars for the land over one rod and a half south from Mir. Parmenters wall. Said road to be bridled with the privelege of driving teams and droves to and from the River Meadows. Said Briant to set up and maintain good gates and bars convenient for the use of passengers. Said gates and bars to be set up opposite an appletree in ifr. Briants one rod from the west end of Esq. Reeves barn and opposite the east gate post at Mr. Heards land.

1819 We the subscribers selectmen of the Town of East Sudbury and a Committee specially appointed by the suid Town at a legal meeting holden on the first Monday of May last upon the petition of Mr. Joseph Smith, praying for an alteration in the road leading from the dwelling house of his late father, T'r. David Smith, dec. to five paths so called, having viewed the said proposed way, we are of the opinion that his request if complied with would be of ad- vantage and convenience to the public and have laid the same as follows.
Beginning at the westerly end of his said late Fathers dwelling house at the bend of the road now used anu on the easterly side thereof, thence proceeding northerly in a straight course about forty rods at which place you again enter the old read. This hew road, thus laid out, is bounded by a newly built good stone wall on the easterly side thereof from end to end, and from the wall it is two rods wide lying on the west side thereof. The said Smith offers the land free of charge to the Town and will build the wall on the western line, at his own expense. He also engages to make
a good and commoding carriage road in a crowning style lowering the hill and filling up the valley so that the ascent and descent shall be easy and conveniont and to the acceptance of the Town or their Committee, and in consideration thereof he asks that he may be abated his highway taxes within the Town for this and the five following years; the said taxes to be assessed as usual against him, and if his aforesaid engagements for making the road and not fulfilled to the satisfaction of the Town or their committee, he will hold himself liable and ready to work out his highway taxes, assessed as aforesaid under the direction of the highway surveyors, provided the

We the subscribers a committee chosen at Way meeting last to examine the road between Ir. Samuel Russells ail Mr. John Cuttings and report to the town the expedience or necessity of widening the same, have attended that service and ask leave to report that in our opinion it is necessary that the said road should be widered as follows;
Beginning at the corner of Mr. wymans at the south corner of the common, and turning the corner with a curve leaving five feet between the wall and the elm troe to a stake and stones, thence a straight line to an apple tree in the northwestern corner of L'r. John Cuttings land; hence on so as to make a widening of six feet at the bend of the road and so on to the wall opposite to an elm tree on "r. Russells side; thence passing the bar way to widen so as to rake a convenient way for teams to pass the brook.
The remainder of the way to Mr. John Cuttings to be widened agrecable to record of said road.
The conditions on which the land is to be had of the Rev. John B. Wight and Mr. John Cutting is, they give their land provided the Town will move the fence and set it upon the line reserving the soil that is not wanted to make the pathway. Mr. Russell agrees to straighten the line and move the wall opposite the corner of the common at his own expense.
Mr. Wyman asks twenty five dollars and the soil that can be spared, and the Town to remove and newset the wall at their expense.

At a legal meeting of the inhabitants of the Town of East Sudbury held May sixth, 1822, to sco if the Town will grant money and choose a committee to carry into effect the report of their committee on the road between Mr. Russells and Mr. John Cuttings or otherwise act according to the pleasure of the meeting.
Ordered the Selectmen to lay out the road between Mr. Samuel Russells and Mr. John Cuttings, and assess the damages to the several ommers of the land.

At a legal meeting of the inhabitants of the Town of East Sudbury held March 1, 1824, to hear the report of the selectmen relative to opening the Town ways that have been encroached upon and the Town to make such. further provision and arrangements as they shall think proper when met.
Voted to accept the report of the selectmen on the Town roads, and ordered the same on file, also chose William Bridge as agent for the Town to make enquiries what the powers and authority which Towns have to compel the opening of the roads which have been encroached upon by adjoining ommers of land.
1825 We the committee appointed to lay out a road from the farm road so called, to Edward Rices, have attended that duty and report as follows.
That they have bounded the same, beginning at a stake and stones at the farm road, thence to another stake and stones at the force be- tween Edward Rices and land of heirs of Zachariah Heard Dec. then to another stake and stones near the house of Edward Rice, being a straight line.
Said road is laid out one and a half rods wide from the bounds, which bounds are on the westerly side of said highway.
They further report that they have assessed the damage at fifty dollars for so much of said road as passes through land of Zachariah Heard Dec., and that Mr. Rice gives the use and improvement of his land.

At a legal meeting of the inhabitants of the Town of East Sudbury held Oct. 1, 1827, to see if the Town will accept of the road as located by their selectmen from a stake and stones in the road leading from William Shermans to the Concord road over and across land formerly belonging to William Curtiss to the Concord road, and also to discontinue that part of the old road from said stake and stones, to the guide post at Concord road.
Voted to discontinue tho old road mentioned in this article and accept of the new one laid out by the soleetmen on condition that the sume be done without expense to the Town.
The Town by their vote accepted the report of the Selectmen locat- ing a Town way from Ezekiel Rices to Damons Corner, so called, which report is as follows.
