Town of Wayland Oct. 15 1881
On the 12th day of September 1881 there was filed with the Selectmen a Petition duly signed by certain of the voters of the Town asking that the way or street (called the lane) leading from Sudbury road to the Concord roads be- tween the estates of Wm. R. Dudey and that owned by the heirs of the la: Sylvester Reeves, be widened and repaired.
Upon said petition notices were given as required by law and on the 15th of October 1881 at one oclock P.M. we heard the parties in interes and there being no opposition thereto we decided to widen the said street or lane to forty feet wide, the same now being fifteen feet wide.
The land taken is bounded as follows commencing at a point on the Sudbury road at the Southwesterly Corner thereoffifteen fuet from the land of Wm. R. Dudley and running northerly on said Sudbury road twenty five feet, thence turning and running N. 68º East one hundred and forty eight feet and six inches to a proper stone bound, thence continuing to the Concord road twenty eight feet and six inches, thence turning and running Southerly along the Concord road fifteen feet on land of said William R. Dudley, thence turning and running in a stright line to the point of beginning along the Northerly line of said lane The land taken being a strip twenty five feet wide the existing lane being fifteen feet wide Making a total width of forty feet wide. All the land taken lying on the Northerly side of the said line.
This widening requires the taking of three thousand nine hundred and ninety three feet of the land of the heirs of the late Sylvester Reeves Sen. for which we have awarded the sum of two hundred and fifty dollars, and also a piece of land belonging to W. S. Roby for which no compensation is asked and therefore we make no award. A plan of the road and the petition accompanies the report of the Selectmen to the Town and will be duly filed with the Town Clerk.
