Through the land of Artemus Bond and Phebe Bond into the seid town road, 40 rods. To be two rods wide and to lie on the easterly side of said course.


And the said Rices agrees to release all damages for laying said road through their land and make the said road through their lar .! free from expense to the Town. And we allow the several owners of the land over which the said road is topass two months to take off the wood and lumber standing and growing thereon.

Thence south ten degrees east eleven rods eighteen links on land of Paul Loker. Thence south twenty one and a quarter degrees east, forty five rods and fifteen links on land of Paul Loker; thence the same course cight rods on land of Edward Gleason forty three rods on land of John Loker, and nineteen rods and eight links on land of Eben Loker to the South County Road; said road to be two rods wide, ex- cept at the beginning, which is to be two rods and fourteen links, running to a point six rods to two rods wide and lie on the westerly side of said course o

We the subscribers Selectmen of the Town of East Sudbury have laid out for the use of said Town, a Town way, as follows.


Beginning at the corner of a stone wall dividing the land of Paul Loker and William Noyes, and the Poplar bars so called on the road leading from John V. Dudleys to Weston. South 6 and & East twenty two rods. with one and one half west eighteen rods in land of said Noyes, South thirteen East and one half in land of said Loker. Southeast fourteen and a quarter thirty six rods. South three east three rods on land of Ebenezer Loker. South three east twelve rods eighteen links on land of Edward Gleason and others: The same course twenty four rods and ten links on land of Isaac Damon and Collins Damon the same course two rods and ten links on land of Ebenezer Lokor to the road passing said Lokers house, to be two rods wide, except at the commencement of said road, which is to be two rods and eighteen links coming to a point at a distance of six rods and to lie on the westerly side of said course, and we allow the several owners of the land aforesaid six months to take off the wood and timber standing and growing thereon, which said road is hereby reported to the Town for their acceptance, and when accepted and recorded is forever after to be known as a public town way.


And the subscribers further report that they have widened the old road between John V. Dudleys and the Poplar bars.


Beginning at the wall dividing the land of Collins Damon and Josiah Damon, the road to be one rod and fifteen links measuring from the wall on the opposite side of the road, and in the range of said division wall, said widening to be eight rods in length, and running to a point fros said wall on land of Collins Damon and seven rods and fifteen links from said wall, and running to a point on land of Josiah Damon, and we allow the several owners of said land three months to remove their wall onto the bounds above mentioned which said widening is hereby reported to the Town for their acceptance and when accepted and recorded is forever after to be known as part of said road.

Voted to accept the report of the selectmen which is as follows. We the subscribers selectmen of the Town of East Sudbury have on the Petition of Jason Bent, Paul Loker and others laid out for the use of said Town, a Town way as follows.


Beginning at the corner of the stone wall dividing the land of Paul Loker and William Noyes at the Poplar Bars so called, at the road leading from John V. Middlesex ss. Wayland Feb. 20, 1842. We the subscribers Selectmen of the Town of Wayland agreeable to the Petition signed by Jeremiah S. Hammond and others requesting us to lay out a new Town way near the School House No. 3 in said Town,


After giving due notice to the owner of the land according to law of the time of laying out the same, have laid out said road this day in manner and form as follows; viz.


Beginning at a stake and stones at the old County road so called it being the northeasterly corner of land owned by the inhabitants of the Town of Wayland on which School house No. 3 now tands, and from thence running south four degrees west 7 rods and 7 links on land of William Bridge, esq., to a stake and stones at the new County road so called; said monuments being on the westerly side of said road, and said road to be two rods wide. And in consequence of laying out maid road and it being accepted and recorded as such the selectmen assess the damage for the land for said road ut the sum of twelve dollars to be paid to William Bridge Esq., owner of said land from the Treasurer of Said Town of Wayland, on the first day of September next and the owner is allowed to take off stones and other materials not wanted for the purpose of making said road until the first day of May next. Pursuant to the petition of Reuben Hunt and others, and to the law in such case made and provided, the County Commissioners of the County of Middlesex, having given all persons and corporations interested therein reasonable notice as the law directs, met at the house of L. G. Fessenden in Wayland on the fifth day of May A.D. 1841 and proceeded to lay out the new town way prayed for in said petition in manner as fol- lows; viz.


Beginning at a stake and stones on the division line between the Towns of Wayland and Sudbury being the northerly boundary of a Town way lately laid out by the Selectmen of Sudbury, thunce running N. 75 E. 41 rods on land of Elijah Bacon to a stake and stonis, thence N.82 E. 14 rods to a white oak tree marked. Thence N.58 E. 17 rous to a stake and

stones. Thence N.42 E. 7 rods to a stake and stones. Thence No.273 E. 9 rods to a stake and stones. Thence N. 542 E. 15 rods to a small oak marked. Thence N. 782 E. 7 rods 20 links to a yellow oak tree marked being all on land of said Bacon.


Thence S. 87 E. 22 rods on land of Abel Heard to a stake and stones. Thence S.76 E. 17 rods to a stake and stones. Thence S. 58 E. 72 rods to a stoke and stones. Thence S. 27% E. 41 rols to a stake and stones Thence 21 @ E. 22 rods to a stake and stones. Thence 9.02% E. 5 rods to a stake and stones. Thence S. 522 E. 5 rods, to a stake and stones. Thence S. 822 E. 8 rods to said Heards fence and 62 rods further on the same course to the end of an old town way; the last seven courses being all on land (". said Heard.


And said new town way is on the southerly side of said lines and monuments and to be two rods wide in all ports thereof from the place of beginning to said Heards fence in the last mentioned course. Thence the southerly boundary of said Town way is to be a line commencing two rods from the northerly boundary at said fence and runnin - easterly to a large elm treo and so on to another large elm tree at the old town way aforosaid.


The above is a true extract from the said Commissioners order.

Middlesex SS Wayland, March 23, 1842.


We the subscribers Selectnen of the Town of Wayland, agreeable to the petition of Abel Heard requesting us to lay out a price of new Town why near to his dwelling house in said Town, after giving notice to him the said Heard of the time of laying out the same have laid out said road this day in manner and form as follows; viz.


Beginning at a stake and stones of a new Town way laid out by the County Com issioners on the fifth day of Kay 1341, said stake and stones marked on said road South 82 E. and running S.772 E. 12 rods to the south sile of the south elm tree. Thence S-87 E 2 r. 15 links to the old town road.


The road to be on the south side of said monuments. Said road to be two rods wido from the first mentioned bounds till it comes to said Heards fonce, und from thence one and a half rods wide to the old road, in consequence of the-said new road coming into the old road at an an-le. The southerly side of said road will be longer. said road to come into the old road so as to make it convenient for travel.


Said Heard to receive no dimage for the land which is used for the road, and sail Teori is hereby ordered to make said road free from all expense to the town in consequence of said To acceptin" of said road and ordering the sure to be recorded as a public town way.

Te the subscribers Selectmen of the Town of Wayland have on the Petition of Otis Loker and others laid out for the use of said town a town way as follows, viz;


Beginning at a stake and stones on the Boston and Sudbury road opposite the house of Luther Gleason and on land of Edward Rice, thence running on land of said Rice south three degrees east sixty four rods to a walnut tree on land belonging to the heirs of Gen. L.M. Rutter, deceased, thence running on said heirs land south nine and three quarters east, thirty two rods and four links to the Northeast corner of a corn barn on said heirs land, thence in the same course four rods and .eleven links to the County road leading from Framingham to Boston.


Said road to be two rods wide and to be made on the casterly side of said lines.


And we estimate the lamagoes to the owners of the land afore- said as follows:


To Edward Rice one hundre ! and fifty dollars. To the heirs of M.M. Rutter deceased two hundred and twenty five dollars.


And we allow the owners of the land aforesaid until the first of December next to remove the wood fence or buildings that may be growing or standing on the same.


Said road when accepted by the Town and recorded to be forever known as a public Town wayo

The following report made by the selectmen was accepted by the to wit:


We the subscribers selectmen of the Town of Wayland have laid out and widened for the use of the Town a piece of the farm road so called. Beginning at a stake and stonos at the west end and on the north side of the causeway near the farm bridge and running westerly a straight line over land of Duvid Heard twenty eight rods until it intersects the road at a stake and stones on the north side of said road. And we agree with the owner of the land over which it passos for the damage 12 dollars to be paid by the Town of Wayland.


And we allow the owner of the land two months to take off the wood standing and growing thercon.


Which widening of said roud is reported to the Town for their acceptance.

Art. 6 To see if the Town will discontinue so much of the Caster hill road so called as lios between the brook at the Cherman Saw Mill and the ling fence between Horace Heard and Abel Cleason or any part of said road.


Voted that the road beginning at The saw mill and running to the east line of Abel Gleasons land be discontinued reserving to the owners of land adjoining said road the privilege of passing and repassing to their land as usual.

The following report was accepted by the Town, to wit; the subscribers selectmen of the Town of Nayland have laid out for the use of the Town, a Toum way as follows;


Beginning at a stake and stones on the northerly side of the road leading from the North School house, towards Weston, at land of James Adams, then through said Adams land N 52% E. 30 rods thence N.57 E, 20 rods to land of Nathaniel Wade, thence on said Wade !!. 73$ E. 16 rods, thence No67 E. 37 rods. The line so far is on the south side of said road. Thence across to the north side of the road 2 rods (the width of the road) Thence on said Wade 6 rods 20 links to an oak on land of James Adams. Thence on said Adams land IT. 12% W. 22 rods, thence same course 30 rods on said Wade, thence N. 3 degrees W. on said "ade 10 rods, thence same course 8 rods on Amos Carter Jr. thence N. 7% E. 93 rods, thence 3 rods 5 links more on said Carters, thence N. 41 degrees 5. 28 rods on land of Peter Underwood to a Town road. Thence acoross said road the same course 24 to the Town line dividing the towns of Wayland and Lincoln. And we agreed with the owners of land over which said way pusses for their damages as follows. To the said Amos Carter Jr. fifty dollars. And the said Jemes Adams, Nathaniel Wade, and Peter Underwood released all damagos for laying said road through their lando


And we allowed the several owners of the land aforesaid two months to take off the wood and timber standing and growing thereon, which said road is hereby reported to the Town for their acceptance, and when accepted and recorded is forever after to be known as a public Town way.

Joseph Bullards which was as follows. We the subscribers Selectmen of Wayland have laid out for the use of said Town, a Town way as follows;


Beginning at a stake and stones on the Easterly side of the road leading from Natick to Wayland opposite the division line between Josiah D. Johnsons land and land of Joseph Bullard. Thence running N. 23 degrees, 28 rods on land of said Bullard to a stake and stones. Thence on the same N. 174 E. 82 rods to the west side of an elm tree. Thence the same course 6 rods more. Thence crossing over to the west side of the road near the house of Joseph Bullard and beginning at stake and stones at the wall on land of said Bullard and running N. 14 degrees W. 27 rods 1 link to the centre of the brook. Thence the same course 15 rods and 15 links on land of Josiah Russell to a stake and stones opposite to the north gate post of the burial ground. To be two rods and ten links wide the whole distance and the road to be on the east side of the last mentioned line.


And we agreed with the owners of the land through which said way passes for their damages as follows.


To the said Joseph Bullard forty two dollars to be paid by said Tovm of Wayland before said road is opened. And the said Josiah Russell released all damage for laying said way through his land.


And the said Russell agrees to give the land between the new piece of highway and the Burial ground to the Town.


And we allowed the several owners of the land two months to take off the wood and fences standing thereon.


Which road is hereby reported to the Town for their accept- ance, and when accepted and recorded is forever to be known as a public highway.

Beginning at a stake and stones on the northerly side of the highway County road leading from Cochituate village to Framingham near the house of James B. Stone. Thence Worth 15 degrees West 15 rods 14 links to a stake and stones. Thence north 75 degrees W. 12 rods to a stake and stones near the line between J. B. Stone and Ninck F. Damon. Thence north 4 dods. Thence noth 8 degrees E. 4 rods to a stake. Thence north 12 degrees E. 28 rods 16 links to land of Charles R. Damon, and samo course on land of said Damon 16 rods to a stake and stones at corner of suid Damons land. Thence North 8 degrees E. 18' rods on land of Frederick Wendt. Thence North 13g degrees E. 12 rods on land of Charles Loker to a stake. Thence north 24 degrees E. 32 rods 12 links to County road leading to Saxonville. To be 28 feet wide and to lie on the westerly side of said course.


And the owners of the land over which said road passes, hove released all the damages for laying said roal through their land, which said road is hereby reported to the Town for their acceptance, and when accepted and recorded, is forever after to be known as a public Town way a

On the hearing of the petition of Richard F. Fuller, the said Fuller having agreed to pay ten dollars towards the same, it is ordered by us the Selectmen that the Town way therein mentioned be amended from the point where it begins to ascend the hill on which the house of said Fetitioner stands, on the south side of said hill till it comes to the brook on the north side of suid hill by removing the banks on either side of the travelled way, and making the travellod way twenty feet wide within the banks of the ascent and descent of the hill, and eighteen feet on the top of the hill and by removing the brush on the sides of the road within the limits as above.

At a legal . cting of the inhabitants of the Town of Wayland held November 8, 1859. Voted to confirm the doings of the Selectmen, to wit:


Be it remembered this thirty first day of October A.D. 1859, that we the subscribers Warren Moore und Sophia Moore his wife of Wayland, in the County of Middlesex and Commonwealth of Massachusetts for ourselves our heirs and assigns forever do agree on the one part, and the Selectmen of said Wayland County and Commonwealth aforesaid on the other part, to establish bounls of a certain piece of common land containing eighty rods more or less called gravel pit hill situated on the old County road leading from Wayland to Kill Village, given to "icah Goomnow a former proprietor ad- joining said piece of land by the Proprietors of Sudbury, May 30th., seventeen hundred and sixty eight (1768) and reserving the right to dig gravel for the Town for all public services forever.


And we have this day established the above mentioned bounds be- tween the said Moore and wife and the Town for ti purposes above mentioned.


Beginning at the westerly corner at a stone monument, thence running on the road N 51 East twelve rods to a stone monument, thence southi 12% east six rods fourteen links to a stone monument, Thence southwest 475 ten rods to a stone monument. Thence north 572 west eight rods and eighteen links to the first mentioned bound.

At a legal mooting of the inhabitants of the Town of Wayland held November 6, 1860.


To hear the report of their Selectmen and act thercon relative to the straightening and widening of the Town way near the house of Amos Carter, Jr. Heard the Report of the Selectmen on the road as follows.


The Selectmen of Wayland having given seven days notice of our intention to straighton and widen a Town way in said Wayland and stated in suid notice the termini thereof by giving notice to the owner" of the land aljoining sail straightening and widening, and having met at the time and place appointed for that purpose, and having personally examined the straightening proposed, are of the opinion that there is occasion for the straightening and widening of the Town way. We therefore lay out said way as follows.

Beginning at a stake and stones at the Concord Road so called near the house of Amos Carter, Jr., on the easterly side of said road and running northerly 54 rods to the southerly side of the Boston road so called to a stake and stones.


Thence across said Boston road northorly to a stake and stones. 21 rods near the house of Jumes Sherman on said Concord road.


Said straightening to lay on the westerly side of said line and to be two rods wide.


And the owners of land over which road is to pass relinquish all damages by the laying out of said road, and we allow two months to the owners of the land to take off the wood standing and growing on mid land to remove the fence, which laying out with the boundaries and admeasurements have been filed with the Town Clerk on the twentieth of October 1800, being seven days before this meeting, and we now hereby report such laying out with the boundaries and admeasurements of the same to the Town at the meeting of the inhabitants regularly warned and notified for them to allow and accept the samo.
