*Joseph Manning, a brother of Abigail (Manning) Carter, wife of Lieut Jabez Carter, of Woburn, graduated from Harvard in 1730, and became a physician. His will dated October 29, 1744, probated Nov. 4, 1745, describes him as "of Woburn." The will does not mention wife nor children. His will gives £70 to Harvard, and his personal effects, "together with my boots," to his sister, Mrs. Carter. He was born in Cambridge, and although his will states that he had "a design by divine permission to go to Sea" yet he was evidently buried on land as there is a charge against his estate for a pair of gravestones. Ilis kindred had removed to Connecticut.
