The sale of this (valuable Fertilizer has increased from year to year, and during the past season upwards of 300 tons have been sold in this market. Its superior fertilizing effects, and its adaptedness for the advancement of crops (particularly Corn, Potatoes, and Garden Veg- etables), render to it the merit of being the best and most economical manure used. It is also highly beneficial for Grass and Grain Crops. Also useful in destroying Bugs and Worms, which are hidden in the ground, and which so often prove destructive to crops. THE ONLY RELIABLE ARTICLE OF THE KIND IN THE MARKET,
MANUFACTURED BY
DAVIDSON SYRINGE COMPANY,
No. 4 Warren Avenue,
Charlestown, Mass.
THE CELEBRATED MT: ZIRCON MINERAL WATER, MILTON PLANTATION, MAINE.
RESULTS OF ANALYSIS.
This water is colorless and transparent ; it sparkles when agitated, and does not deposit any matter when dt is boiled. Its action is alkaline, and the dry salts found in one standard gallon weigh only 2 .043 grs., but in a moist state 4 .215 grs. This water belongs to a class of waters almost pure, which act on the human system in consequence of the slight alkaline constituent, and the change of habit induced. It resembles the Ben Rhydding Water, Yorkshire, England.
In a standard gallon the following salts are present, considered as dry.
Sileate of Potash,. 1 .110 grains. Sulphate of Soda,. .0 .490 .4
Chloride of Sodium, ..
0 .100
Crenate of Iron, ... 0 .310
2 .010
When crystalized, these weigh 4 .215 grains. None of the more active bodies could be found dissolved, and the gaseous matter is Atinospheric Air in part and Nitrogen in part : no Carbonic Acid. Waters of this class do always affect the functions of the kidneys, in cases where the use of other water or food has induced derangement, and they have the character of " lightness," which allows large volumes to be drank freely. The characteristic ingredient is the Sileate of Potash. (Signed) A. A. HAYES, M. D., State Assayer.
The following is taken from a note accompanying the above:
DEAR SIR :- I think much of the effect of this water, in cases of diseased digestion, is due to a remarkable cleansing action it exerts, being, in fact. a very weak solution of a kind of soap of natural origin. We have too many cured cases to allow us to doubt that the use of this water freely relieves complaints having their origin in the kidneys. (Signed) With high regard, A. A. HAYES.
The Proprietor of this Spring, D. D. W. Abbott, has recently erected
A FIRST CLASS SPACIOUS HOTEL,
Within a few rods of the Spring and at the foot of the Mountain, where the seeker of pleasure or health will find every convenience to promote either. The Spring, which is a boiling one, is 700 feet above the level of the sea, and the water is of the purest quality, causing some of the most remarkable cures in cases of Dyspepsia, Liver and Kidney Complaints, Salt Rheum, Gravel, Stone in the Bladder, Scrofula, Sick Head-Ache, Costiveness, Indigestion, and all diseases arising from impurity of the Blood.
At some future day weshall publish a correct account of some of these cases, for the benefit of invalids. to This Water, which retains its qualities for months, can be had in Boston of

I have used it in this office thirty-seven years, and my oldest records are as legible and black as when first written. This rare quality for permanence renders it invaluable for State and County Records, and all mercantile purposes, where it is important that the writing should remain legible and un- changed in color by the lapse of time.

THE PINE TREE STATE !!
The White Pine Compound,
Prepared by Dr. J. W. POLAND & CO., at Dr. P's Laboratory.
MELROSE, MASS.
This great and popular Remedy, originated by Dr. Poland in 1855, at [Goffstown Center, New Hampshire, was at first designed only for Colds, Coughs, Hoarseness, Sore-Throat, and Diseases of the Throat and Lungs generally, for which complaints it is a certain cure. But in a few months after it was first advertised, two persons, residing thirteen miles apart, and using it for a Cough, discovered that it was a wonderful spscific for KIDNEY INFLAMMATION. This discovery was reported to Dr. P. By him it was made known to the public, in consequence of which a multitude of persons in every New England State, in New York, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, Iowa, Minne- sota, and in Canada, have reported themselves as cured of Kidney Complaints of the most aggravated character, including several cases of DIABETES and one of HYDROCELE. Hundreds of others have doubtless been cured, from whom no direct report has been obtained. This statement is strictly true,-that no person who ever uses the Compound expresses any other disappointment than a happy one. A full Circular, which Dealers have who sell the Medicine, will give a better account of it than can be stated here. An autobiography of Dr. P. can also be had of them GRATIS, or of the Doctor, who will cheerfully answer enquiries free.
The People of Maine especially, know how to value the medicinal qualities of White Pine; and they may be assured (as hundreds of them already know) that Dr. Poland's Compound is a happy combination of the White Pine Bark with a few other simples (all vegetable), which forms the very best remedy known for complaints herein indicated.
GEORGE C. GOODWIN & CO., BOSTON, GENERAL AGENTS.
Sold by the Principal Medicine Dealers in Portland, Bangor, Lewiston, Saco, Bath, and in all the larger towns in Maine. Price for the present, 37 1-2 cents per bottle.
DR. POLAND'S HEAD-ACHE KILLER, HUMOR DOCTOR, and other Preparations, are still in the market and are doing good.

GREAT IMPROVEMENT IN
SEWING MACHINES.
Empire Shuttle achine.
PATENTED FEBRUARY 14TH, 1850.
Salesroom, 510 Broadway, New York.
This Machine is constructed on an entirely new principle of mechanism, possessing many rare and valuable improvements, having been examined by the most profound experts, and pronounced to be
SIMPLICITY AND PERFECTION COMBINED.
The following are the principal objections urged against SEWING MACHINES :
1. Excessive Fatigue to the operator. 2. Liability to get out of order. 3. Expense, trouble, and loss of time in repairing. 4. Incapacity to sew every description of ma- terial. 5. Disagreeable noise while in operation.
THE EMPIRE SEWING MACHINE
IS EXEMPT FROM ALL THESE OBJECTIONS.
It has a straight needle, perpendicular action, makes the LOCK or SHUTTLE STITCH, which will NEITHER RIP nor RAVEL, and is alike on both sides; performs perfect sewing on every description of material, from Leather to the finest Nansook, with cotton, linen, or silk thread, from the coarsest to the finest number.
Having neither CAM nor COG WHEEL, and the least possible friction, it runs as smooth as glass, and is
EMPHATICALLY A NOISELESS MACHINE.
It requires FIFTY PER CENT less power to drive it than any other Machine in market. A girl twelve years of age can work it steadily, without fatigue or injury to health. Its dress and wonderful SIMPLICITY of construction render it almost im- possible to get out of order, and is GUARANTEED by the Company to give entire satisfaction.
