Micajah and his wife Mabel had one child, Lettie Emily Hudson, born in Abbot on April 14, 1877. On November 22, 1904 she married Arthur Wilmer Drake. formerly of Albion, who was born there on November 4, 1876, son of Washington and Temper- ance Drake. Arthur died in Guilford on October 13, 1939. He was a clothing merchant and a leading citizen in Guilford for many years. His widow Lettie, a most estimable woman, now lives with her father, Micajah, in his residence on the southerly side of Elm Street in the Village.
James and Ida M. Hudson had three children, a son and two daughters. The son, Cary Micajah Hudson, was born in Guilford on January 5, 1880, and married Bertha Ruth Packard on January 2, 1902. Cary was drowned in Moosehead Lake on May 21, 1934. He graduated from Coburn Classical Institute and from Shaw's Business College. He clerked at various times and also worked in the woolen mills in Guilford. He died without children. He was a man of integrity and was well liked by everyone.
The second child of James Hudson was Martha Martin Hudson, born in Guilford on March 20, 1881. On November 6, 1913 she married Bernard J. Warren of Dover at Guilford. He died March 20, 1916. On July 1, 1934 she married William H. Pratt, a prominent merchant in Dover-Foxcroft, where they now reside. She had no children by either husband. For years she was an efficient and trusted employee in the Kineo Trust Company of Dover. She held positions of trust in offices in the county courthouse at Dover, where she was very proficient and accommo- dating to those having business therewith.
James Hudson's third child was Lura Belle Hudson, born in Guilford on July 18, 1883. On May 11, 1904 she married At- torney Frank W. Ball of Sebec, who was born in Sebec March 12, 1880, son of Theodore and Adrianna (Towne) Ball. He was admitted to the Piscataquis County Bar on September 16, 1903 by

Justice Albert R. Savage. Mr. Ball died July 22, 1934 at Bangor, where he was carrying on a partnership law business with the late George E. Thompson under the name of Thompson & Ball. Previously for many years he had been Secretary of State. He received his legal education at the University of Maine Law School. When a young man he was Judge of the Milo Municipal Court. Resigning that office, upon the death of Clerk of Courts Henry B. Flint of Dover, he was appointed Clerk, which position he held for several terms. He was a Mason and a Shriner, a man of ability and many most excellent qualities. His widow, Lura, now lives in the James Hudson home in Guilford in which she was born, surrounded by friends whom she has attracted with her pleasing personality. This union resulted in no children.
James Henry Hudson and his wife Mary had one child, a daughter, Charlotte Frances Hudson. She was born in Guilford on January 10, 1905. She was educated at Abbot Academy, An- dover, Massachusetts. Smith College, and Simmons College. On October 29, 1927 she was married in Guilford to John Powers White of Bangor, son of Arey C. White, a successful lumberman, late of Danforth, and Loantha M. (Powers) White. Charlotte's husband John was born in Danforth November 28, 1903. He at- tended Bangor High School, Worcester Academy, and Coburn Classical Institute. He received his collegiate and law school edu- cation at Boston University, being in the class of 1927. He was admitted to the Penobscot County Bar at Bangor on April 5, 1927 before Justice Charles J. Dunn, later Chief Justice. He also was admitted to the Massachusetts Bar on November 9, 1934 by the present Chief Justice, Hon. Fred T. Field. He entered the law office of James H. Hudson in Guilford, and since the elevation of the latter to the judgeship, has practiced most suc- cessfully in that office. He is now a member of the school board and Judge of the Piscataquis County Municipal Court. Before his appointment by Governor Lewis O. Barrows as Judge of the Municipal Court, he held three terms as county attorney. in Pis- cataquis County. Both he and his wife, Charlotte, are very much interested in town affairs and freely give their services in social activities. John is a Mason, Knight Templar, and Shriner.
They have three children (very dear to me, their grand- father), Mary Loantha, born in Guilford July 29, 1929, James Henry Hudson White, born in Guilford April 20, 1932, and Betsey Louise White, born in Guilford June 5, 1937.
Arthur W. Drake and his wife Lettie, daughter of Micajah Hudson, had two children, a son and a daughter. Wilmer Hudson Drake was born in Guilford December 26, 1907. He was edu- cated locally, at Wilbraham Academy, and at Bowdoin College.

On February 29, 1930, he married Evelyn Ester True, who was born in Augusta on January 9, 1908, the daughter of Hal C. and Lottie True. Evelyn is a nurse, having trained at the Children's Hospital in Portland and at the Augusta General Hospital. Wil- mer and his family now live in Glendale, California. He is engaged in war production of aeroplanes.
Wilmer and Evelyn have two children, Hilton Hudson Drake, born in Portland September 13, 1930 and Judith Ellen Drake, born in Guilford on September 26, 1934.
The second child of Arthur and Lettie Drake was Katherine Drake, born in Guilford April 15, 1910. She was educated locally. at LaSalle Academy, and University of Maine, and graduated from the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston and is a registered nurse. On September 22, 1934 Katherine married Dr. George Carlson Howard, then a physician in the Fairfield Sanatorium, son of Alfred and Annie Howard of Elmhurst, Long Island, New York, their marriage being in Guilford. They have two children, George C. Howard, Jr., born in Hartford, Connecticut on June 28, 1937, and Letty-Ann Howard, born in Waterville, Maine on July 7, 1938. Dr. Howard and family now live in the Charles P. Turner former residence in Guilford, where, although a young man, he has a fast growing practice. He graduated from Mt. Vernon High School, Peddy Preparatory School, Dartmouth College, and Harvard Medical School. For two years he was an intern in Hartford Hospital in Hartford, Connecticut.

ELMER S. HUFF, a farmer, was born at Shirley, Dec. 2, 1876 son of Jacob Jr. and Eleanor Page Huff. In 1916 he married Mrs. Mary (Shattuck) Chenery of Dover-Foxcroft. They have one son, Dana L. Huff, and he is Sergeant in the Army and located at Hills Grove, R. I.
FORREST W. HUFF, millman, the son of William and Leah Corson Huff was born at Athens, Jan. 4, 1909. Dec. 28, 1929 he married Miss Veatrice Harris, born to Joseph and Mintie Sinclair Harris Jan. 16, 1911. They have five children. Marita Arline, Rodney Forrest, Bernard Ardane, Betty Lor- raine, and Pauline Norma.

ARA R. HUNTINGTON, weaver, was born at Brighton, Mar. 19, 1892 son of Charles L. and Augusta Randall Huntington. June 3, 1910 he married Miss Calla Leavitt of Athens, born to George and Helen Bunker Leavitt, Dec. 28, 1891. They have one son, Earle W., unmarried, employed in a woolen mill dye-room. They reside on Hudson Avenue.
FRED R. HUNTINGTON, born at Bradford, May 5, 1884, son of Fred and Mellie Adelia Church Huntington. Attended Dexter schools. June 4, 1905 married Miss Myrtle L. Cun- ningham. No children. They are members of the Guilford Methodist church. Mr. Huntington has operated a garage at Guilford since April 1919.
GUY G. HUNTON, mechanical draftsman, came to Guilford with the Hardwood Products Co., in 1920. He was born at Milford, Dec. 15, 1875, the son of James R. and Mary Call Hunton. His father was born at Augusta, June 7, 1837. His mother was born in Milford, Apr. 30, 1848. June 14, 1900 Mr. Hunton married Miss Florence Floyd of West Peru, born to Henry F. and Martha A. Hopkins Floyd, May 8, 1872. Her father was born in Portsmouth, N. H., June 29, 1850 and her mother was born at Peru, Oct. 30, 1848. They have no children. Mr. Hunton worked in Rumford for the Inter- national Paper Co., and the Continental Paper Bag Co., for about ten years. Since then he has been employed by the Morris Foster Co., of Dixfield, and Oakland, the International Mfg. Co., of Phillips, the Merrill Spool Co., of Brewer. and in his own Shop at Bangor, before coming to Guilford.
GEORGE W. HUTCHINS, millman, son of Samuel and Mercey Hutchins, was born at Cambridge, Mass., May 21, 1872. He married Miss Addie H. Littlefield, daughter of Byron and Jennie Littlefield of Wellington, who was born Apr. 22, 1877. They have one daughter, Phyllis I. who married Hiram Hatch of Newport.
JOSEPH THOMAS JACKSON, born at Monson, Sept. 12, 1837, son of Joseph T. and Jane Newell Jackson. At the age of 19 he enlisted in the Civil War, and was first lieuten- ant 20th Maine Reg. Infantry. June 3, 1865 he married Ellen M. Hathaway, born to Jabez Lewis and Olive Norton Hathaway at Howard, now Willimantic, June 25, 1846. To

them eleven children were born, Herbert S. (deceased), Harriett E., Arthur L., Mabel E., Grace E., Jane O., Eva E., Bertha M., Bernice H., Sherwood J., Harold H. In 1901 the family moved to Guilford. Mr. Jackson died Jan. 12, 1910, and Mrs. Jackson died July 13, 1912.
KENNETH JACKSON, was born at Dexter, Aug. 2, 1916, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph C. Jackson. Graduated from the N. H. Fay High school and came to Guilford in December 1936 to accept a position in the office of the Hardwood Products Co. In February 1942 he responded to the call of his Coun- try and entered World War No. 2. He left town feeling very grateful to the many friends he had made for all they had done to make his stay in Guilford so agreeable.
SHERWOOD J. JACKSON, born at Willimantic, Apr. 12, 1889. The son of Joseph and Ellen Hathaway Jackson. He attended the Willimantic and Guilford schools, entering as clerk in the clothing store of the late O. D. Crockett. After the death of Mr. Crockett on Mar. 17, 1920, he became proprietor of what is now the S. J. Jackson Co. Mr. Jackson and Mr. Crockett were associated in the moving picture business operating for many years the JACKOLYN THEATRE. July 9, 1912 Mr. Jackson married Elsie G. Holmes, daughter of Alphonso and Myrtie Goodwin Holmes. They have one son, Philip H. now associated in business with his father.
WILLIS E. JACKSON, painter, was born at Sangerville the son of Edwin and Josephine Bennett Jackson, Jan. 15, 1865. Sept. 5, 1885 he married Miss Susan Harrington, daughter of Jotham and Ruth M. Harrington of Abbot. Children, Cecil W., a painter, unmarried; Mildred, now Mrs. Enoch Johnson ; Nellie, now Mrs. John Hill; Maurice, married and a civil en- gineer in California; Mabel, now Mrs. Harry Hanson of Dover-Foxcroft.
MABEL WHITAKER JOHNSTON, Librarian Guilford Me- morial Library, daughter of George E. and Mabel Howes Whitaker, was born at Somerville, Mass., June 17, 1893. She graduated from Boston University in 1914, and then taught school at Central Falls, R. I. and Somerville, Mass. She was married to Dr. Alfred L. Johnston of Dover-Foxcroft, and they had three children, A. Lawrence (18), now employed by the Community Theatre; George W. (16) and Catherine (13) in the Guilford schools.

BYRON A. KALLGREN, woolen mill employee, born at Mon- son, June 16, 1899, son of Hermon and Annetta Kallgren. June 16, 1927 he married Miss Doris C. Chamberlain of How- land, daughter of Foster and Cora Chamberlain, and she was born Dec. 23, 1903. Children, Blaine Allan, Robert B., Ken- neth G. Mr. Kallgren is a World War veteran and was wounded in action at Belleau, Chateau Thierry.
THOMAS H. KATEN, son of Charles and Augusta Stubbs Katen, born at Guilford, Sept. 9, 1885. Jan. 18, 1908 he married Miss Lola I. Davis, born at Dexter, June 26, 1888. No children. Mr. Katen is a woolen mill weaver. He has been fire-warden for the State on Boarstone mountain every summer except one since 1915.
FRANK W. KENISTON, oldest son of George W. and Ella J. French Keniston, was born at Franklin, June 5, 1873. He was also the oldest grandson of the late Franklin and Sarah Whitaker French, and Mr. French was the first male child to be born in Franklin, after it was incorporated on Jan. 24, 1825 and therefore for his first name was given the name of the town. Mr. Keniston attended the public schools at Franklin and Milo. He learned telegraphy at Franklin Road station on the Maine Central during the winter of 1892-93; was tele- graph operator for Franklin W. Cram in his business car when the new Bangor & Aroostook R. R. was building out of Brownville in the Fall of 1893. Sold the very first ticket on the B. & A. after it was accepted by the Railroad Commis- sioners on Jan. 1, 1894. After a few months as Station Agent at West Sebois, he took charge of the station at Guilford on Apr. 1, 1894. Was General Storekeeper for the B. & A. the last fourteen months of Government control ; Division Agent on the Southern Division 1920-1924; Agency Supervisor covering the entire road 1925-1932 with head- quarters at Milo. Station Agent at Guilford Jan. 1933 until voluntary retirement Apr. 1, 1939. Member and Trustee of Guilford Methodist church since 1896, and Chairman of Trustees since Jan. 16, 1937. Church Treasurer total of 29 years at Guilford and Milo; Superintendent of Church School a total of nineteen years at both places. County Chairman of Red Cross for year 1939. Financial Secretary of Guilford Loan & Building Association 1911-1919. Oct. 14, 1896 he married Miss Mattie S. Stewart, only daughter, born to Nel- son and Sittara (Googins) Stewart at North Hancock, Nov. 22, 1873. Children, Erma S., born in Guilford, July 23, 1898.

Held regular pastorates at Cutler, Eastport, Harrington, Mars Hill, in addi- tion to a large amount of supply preaching in different sec- tions. Myra, born at Guilford, Oct. 10, 1900, graduated from Guilford High School in 1919 and from Shaw's Business Col- lege in Bangor in 1921. Was employed as stenographer to the General Storekeeper for the Bangor & Aroostook R. R. Com- pany for about twelve years. June 24, 1933 was married to Morril B. Mullen of Fort Kent, and since that time they have lived in New York City and Connecticut.
Mr. Keniston has a brother, Arthur L., born at Franklin, May 13, 1877, now an undertaker at Milo. Also a sister, Elsie K., born at Franklin, Apr. 21, 1892, now Mrs. Otto B. Hanson, Lexington, Mass.
CHARLES A. KING, woolen mill weaver, was born at Dover- Foxcroft, Mar. 28, 1897 the son of John and Lovina Libby King. Nov. 24, 1920 he married Miss Edna M. Washburn, oldest daughter of Freeman D. and Elizabeth Gill Washburn and born at Guilford, Mar. 20, 1887. They have no children.
FREDERICK W. KNOWLES, son of Leslie W. and Affie Grant Knowles was born at Willimantic. In 1917 he married Ada Powell Luce who was born at Bethel, daughter of the late Stanley J. and Melissa Underwood Powell. Of this union there are two children: Virginia A. who married Thomas G. Brown, and are living at present at Miami Beach, Florida, where he is serving in the U. S. Army. Gordon Stanley, the son, enlisted in the Army and served three years; a year and a half of which he was located at Panama. He has also re- enlisted in 1942, World War II and is stationed at Fort Jack- son, South Carolina. Mrs. Knowles also has a daughter, by a former marriage, Miss Verna A. Luce, who holds a splen- did position in the Maine Savings Bank at Portland. Mr. Knowles, Sr. is a veteran of World War I, seven months of which was spent overseas; and has re-enlisted in World War II. He is stationed at Keesler Field, Mississippi. Mrs. Knowles is money-order clerk at the local Post Office.

MILLARD I. KNOWLES, is a son of Leslie W. and Affie (Grant) Knowles, and was born at Willimantic, April 27, 1902. He attended the Willimantic schools, and one year at Monson Academy. Was employed at the Monson slate quar- ries, later at the Guilford woolen mills, and for sixteen years has held an important position with the Hardwood Products Co. Dec. 9, 1922 Mr. Knowles married Miss Nathalie Hatch of Guilford and they have one son, Edwin J., born Aug. 16, 1924.
RAYMOND G. KNOWLES, was born at Willimantic, July 21, 1906. Attended the town schools and one year at Monson Academy. Worked in Boston and Kansas City, Mo., for a time and came back to Guilford twelve years ago, and is em- ployed as shipping clerk for the Hardwood Products Co. Nov. 14, 1925 Mr. Knowles married Miss Ruth Perkins of Salem, Mass., and they have five children, Arthur, Doris, Richard, Marjorie and Shirley.
CLAIR BACKUS LABREE, son of the late Harry and Edith Labree, born at Guilford, Feb. 9, 1911. Graduated from Guilford High school in 1929 and married Miss Jose- phine Teresa Barrows of Guilford, born Feb. 8, 1913. Children, Edith, born March 12, 1930, Marilyn, born March 15, 1932, Robert, born Aug. 21, 1936, and Rodney born July 18, 1937. Mr. Labree has been in the employ of the Hard- wood Products Co. for several years.
ELMER A. LABREE, younger son of the late Edwin R. and Eva A. Jones Labree, was born at Guilford, Oct. 30, 1892. He married Miss Marion E. Holt, only daughter of Eva A. (Clewley) and the late Fred A. Holt, of Guilford, on July 20, 1912. Children, Mary, Eloise and Anita. Mr. Labree died at Guilford, Oct. 20, 1941.
JOHN E. LABREE, son of the late Harry and Edith Backus Labree, was born at Guilford, Nov. 9, 1909. He attended the village schools. August 10, 1933 he married Miss Maude L. Sawyer of Dover-Foxcroft. They have two sons, Ronald and Raymond.
MRS. ALICE ANDREWS LANE, was born at Detroit, Feb. 20, 1858, daughter of Rev. Andrew P. and Sylvania Harding Andrews. She died at Guilford, Sept. 6, 1942. Dec. 29, 1895 she was married to Edward H. Lane. Mr. Lane was born at Dexter, Mar. 17, 1862 and died at Guilford, Apr. 12,

1925. They had no children. Mrs. Lane is survived by a sister, Mrs. Gertrude Williams of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, and a brother, Byron P. Andrews of Gardena, Calif.
CHARLES LARRABEE, born at Parkman, May 11, 1874, son of William and Areminta Pingree Larrabee. He married Amy Wright of Mars Hill, and they had one son, Clinton, and he died at Waltham, Mass., in March 1938 at the age of thirty- eight. Mrs. Larrabee died in 1901. April 15, 1913 he mar- ried Isabel Smith of Parkman. Mr. Larrabee worked in the railroad shops at Derby for ten years, and for the past twenty years has been with the Hardwood Products Co.
FREEMAN N. LAWRENCE, unmarried, and the last survivor in a family of thirteen children, was born at Brighton, Apr. 2, 1868, son of Joseph H. and Susan L. Hutchins Lawrence. Mr. Lawrence has been a plumber and sheet-metal worker, employed at Guilford, and at Los Angeles, Calif., until com- pelled to retire in 1930 because of ill-health.
MRS. ESTELLE CORA LEAVITT, daughter of the late Daniel and Emeline Marble, born at Shirley, Jan. 27, 1864. On Aug. 3, 1882 she was married to Fred T. Leavitt who was born at Guilford, May 10, 1859. They had two daughters, Mabelle M., born January 1884 and died in 1904; Maude M., born in January 1886 and died Apr. 20, 1900. Mr. Leavitt died at Guilford, March 10, 1914. He conducted a successful furniture and undertaking business for several years.
HORACE A. LEE, millman, son of Ernest J. and Hannah Lee, born at Bancroft, Jan. 13, 1892. He first married Miss Amanda Moody of Haynesville, and she died. By this mar- riage there was one son, Frederick M., now in military service. Mr. Lee then married Miss Elizabeth F. Foss of Jonesport, daughter of William and Ida White Foss, and was born Jan. 25, 1895. They have one daughter, Mamie G.
CHESTER V. LEWIS, woolen mill man, born at Guilford, Feb. 17, 1907, son of Henry R. and Lillian Ames Lewis. June 1, 1937 married Elsie Default of Newport, who was born June 19, 1903. No children by this union, but Mrs. Lewis has two children, Charles and Edith by a previous marriage.
RICHMOND L. LEWIS, born at Sangerville, July 13, 1904, the son of Henry R. and Helen Lewis. Sept. 29, 1923 married Agnes P. Hall of Athens, daughter of Alanson and Elizabeth Judkins Hall. Children, Donald M., and he served as private

in 5th Infantry, Co. E, March 1937-March 1940, and part of that service was in Panama. Lorraine G., Ruth J. and Law- rence in the Guilford schools. Mr. Lewis is a machinist at the Oldtown Woolen Mill, Guilford.
GERALD A. LITTLEFIELD, woolen mill employee, son of William J. and Luella Clark Littlefield, born at Guilford, Sept. 15, 1893. May 9, 1913 he married Miss Annie M. Conway born at Williamsburg, Apr. 22, 1897 daughter of Wm. Thomas and Emma Brown Conway. They have one son, Malcolm G.
ORA JASPER LITTLEFIELD, son of Ora M. and Gertrude Roberts Littlefield, born at Abbot, Feb. 19, 1906. On Nov. 3, 1928 married Miss Alice E. Bradford of Guilford, born 1909 and graduated from Guilford High in 1928. They have one son, John Charles. Mr. Littlefield is employed with the Hardwood Products Co.
CLINTON L. LINDSAY, woolen mill man, born to Edna and the late Samuel F. Lindsay at Harmony, Apr. 25, 1893. Nov. 3, 1917 he married Miss Ina Washburn, youngest daughter of Freeman D. and Elizabeth Gill Washburn, and was born at Guilford, Dec. 22, 1892. They have one son, Clinton Levoy, born at Guilford, Oct. 13, 1921. He graduated from Guilford High in 1940, and now a clerk in the Rexall Drug Store.
JESSE F. LINDSAY, youngest son of Edna Foss and the late Samuel F. Lindsay, born at Guilford, Feb. 17, 1906. Sept. 29, 1929 married Miss Beatrice Flora Clukey of Dover-Fox- croft. Children, Robert P. and Phyllis May. Mr. Lindsay has been employed by the Hardwood Products Co. for thirteen years.
FERN ELIZABETH STEVENS LOIGNON, born Aug. 25, 1910, at Guilford, the only daughter of Elmer H. and Bertha Jackson Stevens. She is a graduate from Guilford High in 1928, and of the Maine School of Commerce in 1930. Sept. 24, 1934 she was married to Gaberal Loignon of Biddeford. Mr. Loignon is owner of the I. G. A. Store in Biddeford. They have one child, Philip, born May 30, 1937.
OMA J. LOMBARD, was born to the late Clarence E. and Jennie (Hammond) Lombard on March 17, 1889. He attended Guilford High School. On May 8, 1918 he married Miss Cassie Marion Brown of Abbot, who was a graduate of Fox- croft Academy and Farmington Normal school. They have a daughter Gloria Brown Lombard, born Nov. 24, 1923, and

a son Oma John, born April 30, 1927. Both children are at present attending Guilford High school. Mr. Lombard was in World War I, going into the service May 28, 1918. He went to France with the 76th Division and was transferred to the 32nd Division. He was stationed in Paris four and one half months at a Red Cross Army hospital in the capacity of cook. Mr. Lombard was honorably discharged on Feb. 19, 1919. He then worked in the store of French & Elliott Co., Guilford, until he was appointed Postmaster at Guilford by President Harding in 1923. He was re-appointed by Presi- dent Coolidge, and again by President Hoover, serving a total of twelve years and giving the public splendid service. Since 1935 Mr. Lombard has filled the important position of Assistant Superintendent of the Hardwood Products Co. in Guilford.
ROSCOE G. LOUD, son of Walter G. and Georgia A. Loud, was born at Plymouth, Nov. 15, 1891. Attended Plymouth High school, Plymouth, and English High, Worcester, Mass. June 5, 1923 he married Alma I. Mitchell. Mr. Loud con- ducted a general store at Plymouth for thirteen years, and has operated the Guilford Variety store, Guilford, since 1932. He served as Selectman for 1941 and 1942 and has been re-elected.
WALTER A. LUNT, employed in woolen mill finish room, was born to Joseph A. and Mary Sanborn Lunt at Newport. Nov. 11, 1909 he married Miss Esther M. Spearing, younger daughter of George and Lizzie Wharton Spearing and born at Guilford. They have no children, but Charles Larsen, a nephew, has lived with them much of the time since his early childhood.
RUPERT F. LYON, youngest son of the late Andrew S. and Emma Trafton Lyon, born at Guilford, April 10, 1896. Mr. Lyon married Miss Beatrice Allen of Wellington Dec. 20, 1913 and she was born July 10, 1892. They have a son, Gordon, married Doris Mckay of Wytopitlock, and a daugh- ter Arline, who married Into Suomi of Bangor. Mr. Lyons' services as a carpenter are in good demand.
