-New Gallery for Patent Ambrotypes and Photographs of every size and description, with all the improvements. Ambrotypes in Lockets and Pins, Cases, and Frames of all descriptions. Rights for sale, and instruction given in Cutting's Patent Ambrotype and Mezzograph process.

The subscriber, having purchased one half of the proprietor's entire Right for Cutting's Patent Ambrotypes, in the city of Boston, has opened a

GALLERY OF AMBROTYPES, 123 WASHINGTON STREET, BOSTON,

For the purpose of taking these beautiful and enduring pictures in Glass. The Ambrotype, being hermetrically sealed between two plates of fine polished glass, (by a cement which not only secures, but gilds and beantifies the impression,) is proof against the action of water or acids, or the variations of climate in long sea voyages, and is the only kind of picture that will remain unchanged by time. They can be taken from the size of full life to the smallest miniature, and in one-quarter the time of the Daguerreotype. They are not reversed, can be seen in any light as plainly as an engrav- ing ; hence are very suitable for Pins, Locl .. ts, and large Frames, as well as Cases. The extreme popularity of the Am- brotype, has given rise to much imposition. Counterfeits upon single glass, covered with black varnish, are often sold for Ambrotypes. None are genuine withont the patent stamp. The public are invited to call and examine speci- mens at the WASHINGTON STREET AMBROTYPE GALLERY, No. 123. J. BRIGGS.

CHILSON'S NEW CONE FURNACE. (PRESENTING A CLUSTER OF CONES OVER THE FIRE,)

JUST COMPLETED AND PATENTED,

IN AMERICA, ENGLAND AND FRANCE. UNPARALLELED ECONOMY IN FUEL !

Retaining and holding the Smoke and Gases in a clus- ter of CONES, exposed to the reflected rays of heat act- ing on the tapering surface of the Cones,-not unlike the action of the sun on the sun-glass,-the rays of the heat and light being brought to a focus in each Cone, as represented by the cut.

The Inventor of this Furnace feels truly grateful to his friends and a generous public, for the extensive in- troduction, and very favorable reception that his for- merly patented Furnace has received in all parts of the land; and now respectfully asks those in want of heat- ing apparatus, to examine this new invention, careful- ly, and see if they do not find it a perfect remedy for the present enormous waste of heat carried off in the the chimney.

This newly discovered principle is being applied to Stoves, Steam Boilers, &c., with remarkable success.

CHILSON'S PATENT TRIO PORTABLE FURNACE. FOUR SIZES.

Patented in UNITED STATES, Sept. 26, 1831. ENGLAND, May 26, 1854. FRANCE, June 14, 1851.

Any intelligent mind cannot fail to see the wonderful economy in the consumption of fuelby this Invention, over the common Portable Furnaces, Immediately after the fire is kindled in the morning, the damper in the smoke pipe is closed for the day ; when the only escape for the bented smoke and gases is through the con- tinnous tapering trunk or radiator, terminating in the smoke pipe, which is reduced ton small vent of two inches in diameter.

The heated smoke and gases are thus compressed into the whole cireuit of the trunk, and become wholly exhausted by radiation. The consequence is, that the formerly wasted fuel, which was lost by passing off in sinoke and gases in u ernde or unconsumed Mate, is here made available for generating heat.

Warrante I a Saving in Fuel of Fifty Per Cent. over any other Portable Furnace in the known world.

THE

TRIO STOVE

CHILSON'S PATENT TRIO STOVE. SIX SIZES.

einbodies the same val- nable principles conl- bined in the Portable Furnace. We think no prudent person will use stoves, as they have been formerly constructed, after becoming acquainted with this invention. We obligate ourselves to prove, to the satisfaction of all, a saving of Fifty per cent. in Fuel, not only by seeing the stove in operation, but by a large number of the best testimonials that can be written. As usual we offer a full assortinent of

TAYLOR ADAMS DOSTON

MERCANTILE SQUARE, . .. BANGOR, MAINE. SAMUEL B. BROWN, Proprietor.

This large and elegant Hotel was opened by the proprietor, (formerly of the HATCH HOUSE), on Jan- uary 1, 1856. It is built of brick, four stories high, by 80 feet long, fronting a public Square in the most central portion of the city, and contains eighty well finished and thoroughly furnished rooms, with every arrangement for comfort and convenience. A spacious Stable is also connected with the House.

The proprietor returns his sincere thanks to the public for their liberal patronage in past years, and trusts by strict attention to their interests, to inerit, under the superior facilities of the DWINEL HOUSE, a continuance of the same.

WHEELER & WILSON'S IMPROVED

FAMILY SEWING MACHINES.

These improved Machines are rapidly coming into general favor, and acknowledged to be the ONLY machines adapted to family use. The beauty and durability of their stitching are unrivalled, working equally well on fine cambric, quilting and heavy broadcloth. The rapid and noiseless operation of these machines is an advantage possessed by no other, while their simplicity of construction renders them easier of use, besides being less liable to get out of repair-an objection reasonably urged against all other machines. To Families, Shirtmakers, Tailors, Milliners, &c., one of these machines is invaluable.

Late improvements in these machines, have added much to their usefulness, ren- dering them peculiarly suitable for family use.
