In the following section of the work the cities, villages and postoffices of Minnesota are arranged in alphabetical order, and a description is given of each place, with an alphabetical list of all persons doing business therein. In all the larger places the names have been procured by personal canvass, but in the smaller places, where there are less than half dozen stores, they have been obtained by correspondence. Great care has been taken to insure correctness as well as completeness.

ADA. Est pop 1900. Norman coun- ty. A city and the county seat on the G N Ry 47 miles n e of Fargo N D. Has Catholic, Congregational, Norweg- ian and German Lutheran, Engilsh and German Methodist churches, 4 banks, 2 hotels, a community club, an opera house, 4 grain elevators, a flour mill. a creamery, an electric light plant and water works. Three weekly news- papers, the Index, the Norman County Herald and the Norman County Post are published. Has graded public and high school, the latter having an in- dustrial and agricultural department in connection, established under the Putnam act. Ships grain, live stock, flour, feed, seeds, produce, dairy prod-
