C. S. CLARK, E. P. WALLACE, W. S. PENNIMAN, Road Agents of Sandwich.
School Board.
Following a time-honored custom, we would call the at- tention of the townspeople to the condition of our schools.
We have furnished twenty-eight weeks of schooling in each of our eight schools, and have endeavored to provide the best teachers possible for the same. They were all teachers of ex- perience, and the result of their labors proves that the Board made no mistake in their selection. Four of them are gradu- ates of higher institutions of learning, and brought with them to the school-room the zeal and enthusiasm which they had acquired away.
All the teachers worked faithfully to promote the best in- terests of the pupils, and their efforts were crowned with more than usual success.
The Board made fifty-five official visits during the year. But twenty-three parents in the entire town saw fit to visit the schools. We are confident that if more parents were to visit our schools and see with what our teachers have to contend, they would be more adverse to unkind criticismn.
One hundred and twenty-four pupils have attended our schools the past year, and the total expense for text-books and supplies has been sixty-nine dollars and thirty-two cents ($69.32), being but fifty-six cents per year for each pupil.
Thanking the town as a whole for their co-operation in making the schools what they are, we submit this report.
A. B. HOAG, M. D., D. D. ATWOOD.
