Dry * Goods,

NORTH PEARL STREET,

ALBANY, N. Y.

NOT as a department store would we have you think of this estab- lishment. It is an institution, in an entirely different class. It is a dry-goods house, purely and simply. As such it is run. Careful people will mark the difference and the distinction. That's the point we wish to make plain.

The term department store is misleading. The title smacks of the sensational, of hyperbole, of humbug; conveys the impression of the village grocery on an enlarged scale, where it is possible to procure anything and everything, from a needle to the deeds of a house and lot, etc. In the treatment of merchandise, department stores show laxity of respect for method. All kinds of goods are given admittance, fall under a common plan, the rule of disposing of the greatest quantity in the least time, and at the largest profit. From the latter we wish to be omitted.

There are forty-five stores under this roof. It is a chain of stores. Each store represents a link. An aggregate that expresses the highest form of modern retailing. Each is complete in its par- ticular line of merchandise. Each is a separate organization, large, healthy and active, controlled, conducted and managed as such, in a thorough, dignified, orderly and business like manner. Each is treated with the best intelligence for its special needs. It is by these methods that distinct stores are formed and increase, as at ours ; insuring success, strength and permanency to the organization, as its sphere of usefulness and influence widens.

Cheap Furniture . . . Isn't Economical.

It hasn't the durability, and-what is more important- fails to give the owner any sense of satisfaction at any time in its whole existence.

Better to have a few thoroughly good pieces of furniture than a house-ful of showy trash that you soon grow to detest. Be sure you are satisfied before you buy, for slight dissatisfaction at the start usually leads to positive contempt.

Here's a showing of furniture embracing every sort you're likely to want-and marked at such low figures that you need not clip the wings of your fancy.
