Wharfs on the North River, beginning at the North and running along the Weft fide of the City, to the Conquence of the North and Eaft Rivers at the Battery.

An Account of the Alteration of the Names of Several of the Streets in the City of New- York.
W HAT were formerly known by the names of Little Water-ftreet, Albany-pier, Low's, Go- verneur's, Hallett's and Jones's wharfs, and Front- ftreet, are now called Front-ftreet, from Whitehall to Beekman-flip.
Little Dock-ftreet, Crugar's wharf, and Water- ftreet, are now called Water-ftreet, from Whitehall- ftreet to Catharine-flip.
Pearl-ftreet, Great Dock-ftreet, Hanover-fquare, and Queen-ftreet, are now called Pearl-ftreet, from State-ftreet, near the Battery, to Chatham-ftreet.
Duke and Stone ftreets are now called Stone-ftreet, from Whitehall-ftreet to that part of Pearl-ftreet for- merly called Hanover .fquare.
Princefs and Beaver ftreets are now called Beaver- freet.
The numbers in all the above ftreets begin at the Weft end.
Smith=ftreet, William-ftreet, and King George- ftreet, from the Old-flip to Pearl-ftreet, near Chatham- ftreet, are now called William-ftreet, and the numbers begin at the Old- flip.
Great George-ftreet and Broadway, are now called Broadway, from the Government-houfe (where the numbers begin) to a little beyond the Hofpital.
Copfie-fireet, near the Battery, is now called State- ftreet, and the numbers begin at Whitehall-ftreet.
Prince-ftreet is now called Rofe-ftreet, and the numbers begin at Frankfort-ftreet.
Golden-hill and John-ftreets are now called John- ftreet, and the numbers begin at Broadway.

Crown-freet is now Liberty-ftreet, and the num- bers begin at Maiden-lane.
Fletcherand Cooper ftreets are now called Fletcher- Street, and the numbers begin at Pearl-ftreet.
Little Queen-ftrect, is now Cedar-ftreet, and the numbers begin at William-ftreet.
The EDITOR begs that the Citizens will at- tend to the above alterations, and alfo, that it was intended by the Corporation. that what was formerly King-ftreet flould be called .Congreis-ftreet, and therefore the EDITOR has uniformly called it by that name in this Directory; but the Corporation have lately appointed it to be called Pine-ftreet, and the numbers begin at Broadway.
Maiden-lane and the Fly-market, are uniformly cal- led Market-ftreet in this Directory ; but the EDITOR underftands, that from Broadway (where the num- bers begin) to No. 112, corner of Pearl-ftreet, is to continue by the name of Maiden-lane, and from No. 112, to the Eaft-river, is to be called the Fly-market, as formerly, although the numbers are continued on from Broadway to the end of the faid market.
