Van Slichtenhorst, Brant Arentse, of Nienw- kerk, in Gelderland, was appointed a director of the Colonie Rensselaerswyek, in 1646; returned to Nieuwkerk where he d. abont 1668. Ch : Gerrit ; Margaret, m. Col. Philip Pieterse Schuyler ; Alida, m. Gerrit, son of Goosen Gerritse Van Schaick, by whom she had no issue ; after his death, Nov. 11, 1679, she m. Pieter Davidtse Schuyler.
VAN SLICHTENHORST, Gerrit, came to Beverwyck, in 1646, with his father, and served as schout fiscaal for a short time. He was one of the commissarissen of Schenectady, 1672, soon after which he removed to Kingston where he d. Jan. 9, 1681. Besides several house lots in Albany he owned land in Claverac. "Broer Cornelis " d. in 1676. By reason of his eminent services, ren- dered in bringing about peace with the natives, he received a patent for a large traet of land at Katskil.

Jan Clute's claim in lands at Catskill : 1680 bought of Gerrit Van Slichtenhorst, a negro man named Dick for 150 pieces of nooten-hout ; also another negro named Harry for 200 skipples of Indian corn, two loads of hay and 24 beavers in hogs ; 1697 petitioned the governor in fa- vor of his brother who had accidentally killed a child of Col. Schuyler. In his will made March 8. 1680-1, he spoke of wife Grietje and two sons Johannes, by the first w. and Volkert, by the second.

Van Velsen, alias Van Westbroek, Sweer Ten- nise, m. Maritie Myndertse, widow of Jan Barentse Wemp about 1666. In 1669, he received a conveyance of land from Mad. Johanna [DeLaet] Ebbingh, at Lubberde's land [Troy] according to contract with Jan Bar. Wemp; And in 1675, he sold to Jan Corne- lise Vyselaer and Lucas Pieterse Coeymans a saw- mill and two morgens of land on the Poesten kil. He received a patent in 1667, for a lot on the West corner of Van Tromp street and Broadway 9 rods square which he sold in 1678, to Wouter Aertse, hav- ing previously removed the house to Schenectady where in 1669, he had built a grist-mill and became a permanent settler. He was killed in 1690, at the sacking of the village of S. His property, which was considerable, passed to his wife's children and to the church of Schenectady .
