The intereft for difcounts in the Banks in this city is fixed at fix per cent. per annum upon notes or bille not having more than thirty days to run; three days of grace are allowed, and the difcount taken for the fame.

Difcounts are done on Theillays and . Thurfdays in every week; and every bill or note offered for dif- count, muft be delivered on the day preceding the day of difcount, enclofed under a fealed cover, direct- ed to the cafhier, advifing the name of the perfon on whofe account it is offered.


Money lodged at the banks may be re-drawn at pleafure, free of expence; but no draft to be paid beyond the balance of accounts.


Bills or notes left at the banks for collection, will be noticed for payment, and the money collected free of expence; in cafe of non-payment and proteft, the charge of proteft muft be paid by the perfon lodging the bill.


Payments made at the banks are to be examined at the time, as no deficiency, afterwards fuggefied. Con be admitted.


Gold coins of England and Portugal are received and paid at the banks, at the rates eftablithed by an act of congress which became a law in July, ITS? viz. 89 cents per pennyweight; and thofe of France and Spain, and the dominions of Spain, are rated at &; cents the pennyweight.
