WILSON'S STREET AND AVENUE DIRECTORY

OF THE

CITY OF NEW YORK. (CORRECTED APRIL 1, 1859.)

Entered, according to Act of Congress, in the year 1856, by H. WILSON and JOHN F. TRow, in the Clerk's Office of the District Court of the United States, for the Southern District of New York.

EXPLANATION.

If you wish to find the location of any dwelling-house or store,-for instance, No. SO ALLEN street,- on consulting the Street Directory (see ALLEN) you will observe that 68 Allen is on the right hand of that street and on the corner of Grand, and 88 Allen is on the right-hand corner of Broome hence the de- sired number, 80 Allen, will be on the right-hand side of Allen street, between Grand and Broome,

Or suppose you are going up Broadway and wish to take a cross street, so as to call at 236 Hudson street, on examination (see HUDSON) of the corner numbers in Hudson street, you will observe that 230 Hudson is on the corner of Broome-hence by passing from Broadway through Broome street to Hudson, you are near to the desired number, 236.

NOTE .- The streets above Twelfth street are divided by Fifth Avenue into East and West,-as E. 13TH, W. 13TH .- Eleventh street is divided by Broadway into East and West, and Twelfth, east of Fifth Avenue is called E. 12THI; West of Greenwich Avenue W. 12TH; and that portion between Greenwich Avenue and Fifth Avenue is Twelfth street-and the streets located as above described will be found, therefore, in this work, under E. and W.
