RESOLUTIONS
Whereas, The Methodist Church and The Evangelical United Brethren Church were united into The United Methodist Church with the plan of union becoming effective April 23, 1968, and
Whereas, at the time of union there existed six annual conferences in the State of Ohio, some with overlapping boundaries, and
Whereas, the enabling legislation adopted by the general church provided guidelines for the uniting or rearranging of annual conferences as soon as practical following general church union, and
Whereas, each of the six annual conferences in Ohio provided committees to represent them in the working out of plans whereby the union could take place as soon as possible, and
Whereas, upon recommendation of the negotiating committees eight guide- lines were approved by the 1968 annual conference sessions in Ohio, and Whereas, the North Central Jurisdictional Conference approved the six conferences in Ohio becoming two annual conferences, and
Whereas, representatives of the six conferences in Ohio have mutually agreed upon all necessary items which are pertinent to conference union in Ohio,
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED:
1. DATE OF UNION: That on June 10, 1970 the North-East Ohio Con- ference, the Ohio Conference, the Ohio East Conference, the Ohio Sandusky Conference, the Ohio Southeast Conference, and the Ohio Miami Conference of The United Methodist Church be united to form two annual conferences with the geographical boundaries being identical with the two episcopal areas in the State of Ohio, namely, the Ohio West Area and the Ohio East Area.
2. STATEWIDE CELEBRATION: That the Bishops of the two areas ap- point a committee to provide for an appropriate statewide celebration of the union in Ohio on June 10, 1970.
3. MEMORABILIA: That the deposit of historical records and documents be the responsibility of each of the six annual conferences.
4. COMMISSION ON HIGHER EDUCATION: That the constitution for the Commission on Higher Education of The United Methodist Church in Ohio be approved as it appears later in this document.
5. EQUITY:
a. Each local church shall become a member of the Annual Conference within which geographical boundary it is located as the boundary is determined by the North Central Jurisdictional Conference of The United Methodist Church.

b. All property interest, both real and personal (except as otherwise provided for in the Discipline), of local churches being transferred to a new conference membership as a result of the merger of the present Annual Conferences, shall be determined by an Equity Com- mittee composed of three members and three alternates representing each of the Conferences, appointed by the Bishops. The Joint Equity Committee thus formed shall have the power and authority to appor- tion, or distribute equitably, all property interests, including both assets and liabilities, of the aforesaid churches in the conference from which they are being transferred. The committee shall be continued until their responsibilities have been discharged. In the event that no agreement can be reached by the Equity Committee, the matter shall be referred to the Jurisdictional Conference.
c. In the event of the payment of any legacies or devises in which the Ohio Sandusky Conference, the Ohio Miami Conference, or the Ohio Southeast Conference is the legatee or devisee, payment to the suc- cessor in interests conferences shall be made on the same percentage basis as the membership of the transferring local churches bears to the total local church membership of the respective annual conference as of the date of transfer of the local churches to membership in dif- ferent conferences.
6. 1970 APPORTIONMENTS: Statement of Procedure for apportionments for 1970 of conference askings to churches of Ohio Sandusky and Ohio Southeast becoming a part of the Ohio East Area at time of merger,
a. That apportionments to all churches remain the same throughout 1970.
b. That apportionments to the churches involved in this transition be computed for the total year, one half on the Ohio Conference formula and one half on the North-East Ohio formula, and that the North- East Ohio Remittance Form be used for the entire year. The forms to be supplied to the Ohio Conference Treasurer by the North-East Ohio Conference Treasurer as needed for the first half year.
c. That payments be made as ordered by the Annual Conference as long as that Conference is in existence and to the new Conference treasurer when the Conference is established in June, 1970.
d. That the 44 churches in Ohio Sandusky and 11 in Ohio Southeast should transmit for a six-month period, or that part of the year they are a part of the present conference, to their conference treasurer. These payments should be completed by May 31. The payments for the last six months of the year should begin as of July 1, and should be sent to the treasurer of the new Conference of which they are a part.

e. Since the united budget covers old and new Conference operations, any adjustments and transmittal of funds should be arranged through the Conference treasurers, Charles Farthing and Harold Wintermute, in consultation with the Ohio Sandusky and Ohio Southeast treasurers.
7. OTHER E.U.B. CORPORATIONS IN OHIO: That the Corporation, Board of Directors for Student Work in Ohio, Evangelical United Brethren Church, which holds property in Columbus, Ohio is referred to the Equity Committee for distribution. That the continuing body of the Ohio Conference Evangelical United Brethren Church is referred to the Equity Committee.

I. WHEREAS, the four Annual Conferences of the Ohio West Area of The United Methodist Church meeting separately in the 1968 session of the conferences adopted a Plan of Union uniting the conferences in June, 1970:
THEREFORE, be it resolved that the Ohio Southeast Conference of The United Methodist Church (formerly Ohio Southeast Conference of The Evangelical United Brethren Church), Ohio Miami Conference of The Evangelical United Brethren Church, Ohio Sandusky Conference of The Evangelical United Brethren Church, all of which are non profit corporations, incorporated under the laws of the State of Ohio, merge with The Ohio Annual Conference of The Methodist Church to form a single corporation, the surviving corporation to be The West Ohio Annual Con- ference of The United Methodist Church which shall be the successor in interest to the aforesaid four corporations and shall function as the cor- porate body of the annual conference, of the four united conferences, ac- cording to the Discipline of The United Methodist Church. The effective date of the union of the four conferences to be June 10, 1970.
II. WHEREAS, the Discipline of the United Church provides for a Trustee Board of twelve members:
Be it resolved that for the first quadrennium after the merger of the conferences, the composition of the board as related to former church affilia- tion be as follows: seven members who were Methodist prior to the merger and five members who were former Evangelical United Brethren.
III. WE RECOMMEND that the existing Board of Trustees of the present conferences be on call to counsel or advise on matters of concern for their respective conferences. This stipulation to be in effect for the first quadren- nium.
IV. WHEREAS, several of the camping facilities of the present conferences are supervised and legal title is held by the Conference Board of Trustees of the separate conferences:
Be it resolved that the camps, including both the real and personal property, now owned by the Ohio Southeast Conference, Ohio Miami Con-

ference, Ohio Sandusky Conference and Ohio Annual Conference of The United Methodist Church be transferred to a new corporation to be formed by the Board of Education of the West Ohio Conference of The United Methodist Church. This corporation shall hold title to all camp properties within the area of the conference for the conference.
V. WHEREAS, the Ohio Southeast Conference, Ohio Miami Conference, Ohio Sandusky Conference and Ohio Annual Conference of The United Methodist Church have property interests both real and personal where title to property is in the name of the conference corporation:
Be it resolved that title to all real estate, excluding camp properties, now held by the respective conferences and any interest in personal property, excluding camp properties, now possessed by the above named conferences shall be transferred, by proper legal instrument, to the West Ohio Annual Conference of The United Methodist Church, the surviving corporation of the four named conferences. Such transfer to be made by June, 1970.
VI. WE RECOMMEND that a professional appraisal be made of all con- ference properties and distribution be made subject to the provisions of the Discipline of The United Methodist Church.
VII. WHEREAS, The Board of Trustees of The Ohio Conference of The Methodist Church, an Ohio corporation not for profit, has been and is charged with the administration and control of the Pension Plan of the Ohio Annual Conference of The Methodist Church:
Be it resolved that the aforesaid corporation continue in existence and be delegated the responsibility of the control and administration of the Pension Plan of the new Annual Conference Corporation formed by the merger of the Ohio Southeast Conference of The United Methodist Church, Ohio Sandusky Conference of The Evangelical United Brethren Church, Ohio Miami Conference of The Evangelical United Brethren Church and The Ohio Annual Conference of The Methodist Church, all subject to the provisions of the Discipline of The United Methodist Church.
VIII. WHEREAS, in the present conferences there is a difference in pro- cedure in the raising, allocating and supervising of Church Extension Funds:
Be it resolved that a new conference corporation be formed, merging or consolidating the assets and liabilities of the church extension funds of the three former Evangelical United Brethren Conferences and that the Trustee Board of the merged annual conference be relieved of any and all responsibility for the supervision of such funds.
IX. WHEREAS, the agreement for the merger of the four conferences shall be voted upon in the 1969 sessions of the four annual conferences:
Be is resolved that if the plan of merger of the four annual con- ferences is adopted by at least two-thirds affirmative vote of the respective annual conferences in their 1969 annual sessions, then each annual conference

shall make provision for the calling of a special session of its conference to meet separately in 1970, prior to the merging conference for the transaction of any necessary business.
THE CONFERENCE CORPORATION
The name of the corporation resulting from the merging of Ohio Miami Conference of The Evangelical United Brethren Church, Ohio Sandusky Conference of The Evangelical United Brethren Church, Ohio Southeast Conference of The United Methodist Church and the Ohio Annual Con- ference of The Methodist Church shall be The West Ohio Annual Conference of The United Methodist Church.
The corporation is organized not for profit under the general corpora- tion law of the State of Ohio, and is subject to the Discipline of The United Methodist Church.
