SEASIDE
The city of Seaside has an ideal climate the year round, unexcelled boating and bathing facilities, splendid hunting and fishing (both fresh and salt water), that combine to make it one of the most popular summer and winter resorts on the Pacific Coast. Located on Clatsop Beach at the junction of the Necanicum and Wahanna rivers, 118 miles west of Port- land, as the terminus of the Spokane, Portland and Seattle Railway. Seaside has at present the brightest future of any city or resort on the Lower Columbia River. Seaside has a standing population of 1500, with as high as 10,000 during the summer months. One of the finest municipal water plants is located at Seaside, the water of which flows from mountain springs at the head of the Necanicum. Although small in population, Seaside presents a metropolitan air at all times and is bustling with business the year round. Several large concrete buildings have been erected the past year and plans are under way for the erection of more during the winter. Seaside has, aside from the above improvements, 41-2 miles of pavement, an electric lighting plant, best of schools and ·churches. The outlook for Seaside as a commercial center is promising, as at present there are large timber tracts being cruised for logging and numerous logging crews are at work the year round in the vicinity. Seaside has a weekly news- paper, the Seaside Signal, sash and door factory, saw and planing mill, and there is room for several more, as the tim- ber is inexhaustible. The scenery in and around Seaside is unsurpassed anywhere and the climate is mild in winter and cool in summer. Best of telephone and telegraph service, modern hotels at all points on the beach, fine livery accommo- dations and several passenger trains both ways to and from Portland makes Seaside the place to spend the summer months.
