WARRENTON 313

WARRENTON

A station on the S. P. & S. Ry. and Columbia River at the mouth of Youngs Bay. It is the junction point for Ham- mond and Fort Stevens. It has completed the installation of a gravity water system, which required a bond issue of $150,- 000, besides additional taxation to obtain. This system has a main line 20 mides in length, and through the good business ability of our citizens, we are now supplying the town of Sea- side, the Clatsop beaches, the town of New Astoria and the Military Reservation, which is Oregon's only fortified coast defense, known as Fort Stevens. Warrenton is in excellent condition, with new $30,000 graded and high school, $125,000 clay plant (Warrenton Clay Co), which is already supplying the adjacent towns with building brick and tile; has a new shipyard and a thriving lumbering plant; also three canneries for clams and salmon. Telephone and telegraph communica- tion, Northern and Great Northern Express. The Warrenton Commercial Club will answer any inquiries regarding indus- trial sites or give all information desired. G. Clifford Barlow, Postmaster.
