The Board of Trustees of the Northern Liber- ties Gas Works is composed of twelve members, who are elected, to wit : two trustees are elected by the Select and Common Councils in joint con- vention, at the last stated meeting in May (an- nually), for the term of three years. Two are elected by the Stockholders (annually), for the term of three years.

Girard Estates.


The superintendent of the Girard Estates is elected by the Select and Common Councils in joint convention, at a stated meeting in June, for the term of one year, from 1st July.


The agent of the Girard Estates is elected in jointconvention by the Select and Common Coun- cils, at a stated meeting in June, for the term of one year.


Directors of Girard College.


The Board of Directors is composed of eighteen members, who are elected by Councils, annually, as follows :

Board of Guardians of the Poor. Composed of twelve members.


On the first Monday in July. 1859, and annu- ally thereafter, nine citizens and electors of the City of Philadelphia, shall assume the powers and duties of the Guardians of the Poor-to be selected in the following manner, to wit : the Judges of the District Court shall appoint on the Ist Monday of June, 1859, one citizen to serve for one year; one for two years, one for three years-and an- nually thereafter, the said Court shall appoint one person to be a member of said Board.


The Judges of the Court of Common Pleas shall appoint the same number, and in like manner.


The Judges of the Supreme Court of this State shall appoint the same number, and in like man- ner.
