The manner of his death was singular ; a cistern containing about 9 inches of stagnant water, which had been standing for years was to be drained off ; the man went into the cistern and fainted. The doctor and Mr. Zacha- riah Rhodes seeing trouble went down to his rescue and both fell to the bad gases. Oliver, now liv- ing ; came to Barrington in 1722, where he has since resided ; has been Justice of Peace and Justice of the Court of Com- mon Pleas for Bristol Co .; has been a mem- ber of the Congregational Church here nearly 80 years. He has now 10 children living, all in a married state except young- est and eldest daughters, who are widows. He was born in the 17th, lived through the 18th, and will finish in the 19th centuries.
