Population 2.000. An incorporated city in San Patricio county of the S. A. & A. P. Ry. and on the gulf coast. 22 miles east of Corpus Christi and 265 southwest of Houston. Aransas Pass is six miles from Port Aransas and is con- nected with it by a terminal railway. Port Aransas is a deep water port for all ocean-going vessels. The work of deepening the channel to at least 30 feet is now in progress by the U. S. govern- mient. Already docks and warchouses have heen constructed for exporting and importing cargoes from and to all parts of the world. In August, 1913. two cal- goes of cotton, approximately 20.000 bales, were shipped from Port Aransas to Liverpool and other points. These were the first shipments made from this point. It is now a regular port for all coast line vessels for receiving and dis- Klahr H E. notions. charging freight.
