First, it is a division point of the Sante Fc Railroad. both freight and passenger, with roundhouse and machine shops full of men. having a pay roll of $30.000 per month and beautiful station buildings, Harvey Eat- ing House club rooms for employes. etc. Second, it is the logical center for marketing the great crops of wheat. corn, kaffir and maize, broom corn. dairy products, poultry and produce grown in Hemphill and surrounding counties. 338 cars of wheat and broom corn, worth half million dollars were shipped from this point in 1912. Third. and most important, the livestock in- lustry. The value of livestock in Hemp- hill county alone is upward of two mil- lion dollars, and Canadian is the cen- ter for cattle shipments for severni counties adjoining. It is estimated that 30.000 head of cattle were shipped from this point in 1912. Has five church buildings and seven church organiza- tions, Sunday schools and other church auxiliarics.
