COR
CORINNE-Box Elder County.
This beautiful place has had a most wonderful history, and therewith are numbered some of the most enterprising and well known men in the west. It enjoys more natural advantages than almost any other city in the Terri- tory, having an excellent water power, and very rich and productive soil for farming and grazing purposes. The city at present derives its support mainly from the large cattle and agricultural interests of the surrounding territory. They have here a fine Opera House, a first-class hotel, a livery stable and other business houses usually found in a city of this size. The religious denominations are represented by the Episcopal, Methodist and Presbyterian Churches. The school advantages are good; free schools being a feature that is found in but few cities in the Territory of its size, It is on the Utah & Northern and Southern Pacific Railroads, about 24 miles west of Ogden. Among its earliest settlers, and most prominent among the business men of the place, is J W Guthrie, who has been its efficient mayor for nearly 18 years past. He came to the place in its earliest days, and by strict business integrity and ability has accumulated no small degree of wealth and made for himself a reputation of no mean character, as is evidenced by the fact of his being mayor of the city for so long a time. With all the ad- vantages (both natural and otherwise) possessed by this beautiful little town, the sure advent of more Eastern capital and the building of manufactories, it is destined to be one of the best cities in the Territory. It is headquarters of the Bear Lake & Bear River Water Werks & Irrigation Co.
