AGRICULTURAL COLLEGE UTAH.
B Y the liberality of the Government of the United States and the Territory of Utah, the Agricultural College of Utah has $180,000 to expend during the coming two years for an increase of its faculty and an addition to its plant. Its growth thus far has been unparalleled in the history of such institutions. It has five full courses of in- struction, viz .: Agriculture, Mechanic Arts, Domestic Arts, Civil Engineering and a Commercial course. It also has several short courses of instruction. Its large corps of Pro- fessors are all specialists. The distinguishing feature of the College is that, in addition to a thorough general educa- tion, it gives practical exercises every day in every depart- ment-on the farm, in the shops, in the cooking, laundry, sewing, dairy and other working departments. In addition it has extensive apparatus for illustration. Military science is taught by an officer detailed from the National army.
Board costs $2.50 to $3.00 per week. Tuition is free ; admittance fee $5.00. For catalogue address,

MANTI-San Pete County.
MANTI, the County Seat of Sanpete County, was incorporated Feb. 6, 1851. Is well represented as to churches and schools. The citizens are prin- cipally engaged in farming. Manti is located very nearly the centre of the County, is most important in point of population and wealth. The city is thriving and growing rapidly. Population 2,000.
The Manti Temple is the second grand structure in Utah and can be seen from all parts of the San Pete Valley. Ground was broken on the last day of April, 1877. Rocklaying began on the 14th day of April. 1579. The building is 171 feet 6 inches long and 95 feet wide. The distance from the ground to the top of the parapet is 92 feet 6 inches. On the east and the west ends there are towers, the distance to the top of that on the east being 179 feet and to the top of that on the west side 169 feet. Both these towers are 30 feet square at the base. The walls are 3 feet 6 inches at the bottom and 3 feet at the top. Adjoining and connected with the temple is a structure 100 feet long, 40 feet wide and two stories high, in which the apparatus designed to heat the whole building is placed. The side building is occupied by the jan- itor and assistants, and is also a reception room. The buildings are heated by steam, while water is conveyed through pipes. A spring, the water from which is carried a considerable distance through pipes, will supply the tem- ple with what water is needed. The side hill leading up to the temple is laid off into four terraces each 17 feet high. These terraces are walled a dis- tance of about 1,000 feet each, on the eastern and southern descents. At every terrace is a landing 16 feet in width, while from the first to the top one there are 163 steps. The walls surrounding the terraces are of considerable width and will be used as walks.
