Report of Town Committee of Thetford Academy.

The Academy has maintained a very satisfactory school during the past year.

The course of study is the same as last year.

The number of students have been about 33.

There will be a deficiency this year of about $400 00 or the same as last year.

The discipline of the school has been very good.

(Signed)

H. F. WILCOX, C. C. EMERSON, GEO. W. COOK.

Report of the Thetford Public Library.

The Thetford Public Library is kept in the Latham Memor- ial Library building on Thetford Hill and is composed of books which were given by the state or purchased by the town. This Library and the Latham Memorial Library of about three thous- and volumes are free to all inhabitants of the town. Last year the town appropriated thirty-five dollars. Ten dollars of this money was paid for the rent of the Latham Memorial Library and ten dollars toward the Librarian's salary, leaving fifteen for the purchase of new books.

The state has loaned four traveling libraries to the town during the year : East Thetford, North Thetford, Union Village and the Grange.

42

The teachers in our schools ought to use the Library more than they do. The Librarian is ready to select children's books for the use of the schools if they are carefully kept and returned in a few weeks.

The Library is open on Tuesday afternoon from three to. five and on Friday evening from six to eight.

Respectfully submitted, WILLIAM SLADE, President of the Trustees.
