* Died, at his residence in this village, on Sunday morning, the 7th inst., Ezra Stiles, a. 44 years. Ile was born in East Windsor, Conn., came to this place eight years ago, and was one of the first and firmest Abolitionists in the village and county. Firm and undaunted amid dis- eonragement and violent opposition, he has shown that devotion to this, and every other good eanse, which endeared him to the friends of Christian reform, and left an influence behind him that will be imperishable. He was a Christian of no ordinary mould. To him the serving of God was not a mere empty show. The high claims of God were allowed to enter into his first and most earnest devotions. The endorsement of mere theories of truth and righteousness did not satisfy his conceptions of obligation to God or man. His life was made the practical demon- stration of that faith and love which dwelt in him .- Syracuse Dem. Freeman, April 12, 1844.
