And Hap Hazzard, Esqr., was also nominated and ap- pointed by the Vestry present to represent the Church of St. Peter's afrd. as a lay Deputy in the State Convention to be held at Dover the sixteenth day of December next.
"An account of the Revd. William Skilley the balance due as stated being £21 17s. 3d. for ministerial services for the year 1792 being laid before the board by Daniel Rodney, it was agreed that a sum of money should be raised by sub- scription to the amt. 10 or £15 which together with the sum due and not collected on the old subscriptions would be suf- ficient to discharge the above balance. Elijah Cannon was appointed to collect the subscriptions, and ordered to pay the overplus (If any) into the hands of the Treasurer of the Board.
At a meeting of the Trustees and a Number of the Con- gregation of the Church of St. Peter's, at Lewes, April 11th, 1795, it was agreed that the pews in the said Church should be raised one-third of the price they were formerly at. Also that the Congregation should receive the Rev. James Wilt- bank as their minister and pay the sum of Sixty Pounds

Also that Mr. Reece Wolf be and is hereby appointed to collect the pew taxes and subscriptions for paying the par- son's salary to him and to settle with the committee here- tofore appointed to repair the Church, to wit, Samuel Payn- ter, George Parker, and Daniel Rodney, Esqr., who are to approve of the delinquents (If any) and that he be allowed seven and a half per cent. on the sum collected.

Lewes, March 28, 1796, being Easter Monday: At a meet- ing of a majority of the Trustees, Vestry and other members of the congregation, Samuel Paynter, Senr., was unan- imously elected a Trustee to supply the vacancy occasioned by the death of Hap Hazzard, Esqr., the former Trustees being reappointed are as follows, vizt .:
John Russell, Chairman; Samuel Paynter, Senr., Elijah Cannon, Senr., Daniel Rodney, Reece Woolf, Cornelius Wiltbank, Junr., George Parker.
Wardens and Vestry the same as last year, except Samuel Paynter, Junr., who was elected in the place and stead of Joshua Burton, decd, as a Vestryman.
Also, It was Resolved Unanimously to receive the Revd James Wiltbank as minister to Officiate in said Church every third Sunday and that he should be paid for his services Fifty Pounds Per Annum out of the monies raised by the pew tax.
Also, Reece Woolf appointed Collector and to be allowed 7 12 pr cent.
Also, Frederick Row, Clark and to be allowed Twelve Dollars pr Anm from the time he began to officiate until next Easter.
Also, Thomas Martin, Sexton, &ca., To be allowed Ten Dollars for the ensuing year and 11/3 for services done heretofore.
Also, That Cornelius Wiltbank be appointed Tax Delegate to represent this Church in the State Convention the ensuing year.
Also, That Reece Woolf, Daniel Rodney, and George Parker be appointed to let or rent the pews agreeably to the rates of Easter, 1795, and repair and cap the brick wall on the North West side of the Church Yard, And that Daniel Rodney may advance a sum sufficient for that purpose out of the money in his hands.
Agreeable to the order of January 22d, 1796, Mr. Daniel Rodney produced a receipt dated Oct., 1796, by which it appears he paid the Revd. William Skilly Twenty Dollars being the bal. of his acct in full.

Thursday, March 23rd, 1797, a majority of the Trustees, to wit, Samuel Paynter, Reece Wolfe, George Parker, and Cornelius Wiltbank, met, agreed to purchase one-fourth of a lott of Daniel Rodney and Revd James Wiltbank, adjoining the Church yard and to pay them for the same the sum of Twenty Eight Pounds out of the first monies that should be collected belonging to the Corporation in consequence of which appropriation, the said Daniel Rodney and James Wiltbank executed a deed to the Trustees.
April the seventeenth, 1797, being Easter Monday, at a meeting of the Wardens and Vestry it was agreed the Wardens and Vestry elected last Easter should be continued for the ensuing year except Simon Marriner, in whose place John Parker was elected as a Vestryman.
Easter Monday, April 17th, 1797, at a meeting of the Trustees, present, Saml Paynter, Elijah Cannon, Daniel Rodney, Cornelius Wiltbank, and George Parker, it was agreed to rent the old Court House to James Elliott, for one year at £25 to be paid quarterly, which the said Elliott agreed to, and Daniel Rodney was directed to draw a lease, to be executed when Elliott moved into the house, the rent to commence the 15th Apl.
October 16th, 1797, Daniel Rodney, George Parker and Cornelius Wiltbank, Junr., executed a bond for 73 Dollars and 23 cents, Amt due David M. McIlvaine for work done on the old Court House, and delivered the same to George Parker for safe keeping until the other Trustees to wit., Saml. Paynter, Senr., and Elijah Cannon should execute or sign the said bond.
Easter Monday, April 9th, 1798, at a meeting of the Trus- tees, present, Saml. Paynter, Senr., Elijah Cannon, Daniel Rodney, Cornelius Wiltbank, George Parker, and sundry others, the Wardens and Vestry of St. Peter's Church, the following persons were chosen as Trustees to said Church the present year, vizt .: Saml. Paynter, Senr., Elijah Cannon, Daniel Rodney, Cornelius Wiltbank, George Parker, William Burton, and Cornelius Paynter, of whom the said Daniel Rodney was elected Chairman, in the place of John Rus- sell, who resigned in consequence of his removal to George- town.
Daniel Rodney exhibited an account for repairs, &ca., of the Court House for the use of St. Peters Church, to the amount of Twenty-seven Pounds 9/10, where-upon the Trus-

tees agreed to discharge the said account by discount on his bond the balance thereof being Twenty-five Pounds 12/6 upon which the Trustees directed Mr. George Parker to de- liver the said bond to the said Daniel Rodney. Whereas it appears to the Trustees, on settlement of the managers amts. to repair the old Court House that after applying all the money belonging to the Corporation towards discharging the bills there will be a deficiency of one hun- dred pounds and upwards as by the bills and bonds on the other side entered may be seen. Therefore the said Trustees do agree that if any of the members of the Congregation will advance the money or otherwise discharge the said demands they shall be repaid such sums together with legal interest thereon for the payment of which the said Trustees will mort- gage or pledge the old Court House and appurtenances

thereto. Adjourned and agreed to meet again at Lewes, on Wednesday the ninth of May, next.
January 1st, 1799. Three of the Trustees met. Vizt., Daniel Rodney, Samuel Paynter, and George Parker; there not being a Quorum adjourned till Saturday next.
Saturday, January 5th, 1799. Trustees met, present, the Rev. James Wiltbank; Trustees: Daniel Rodney, Samuel Paynter, Senr., Cornelius Wiltbank, George Parker, Cornelius Paynter, and William Burton, being all the Trustees except Elijah Cannon.
At said meeting the Trustees took into consideration the resolution of Easter Monday last relative to the debts due sundry individuals for the repairs of the Old Court House and other demands against the Corporation. Several of the members proposed to advance money for the discharge of said debts on condition the Trustees would mortgage the Old Court House and appurtenances together with the Church lot unto them as security and would apply the rents arising therefrom (till the whole principal and interest was paid) to discharge the same, which proposition was unanimously agreed to by the Trustees and other members of the Congre- gation present.
Whereupon Samuel Paynter, senr., paid in cash £5 14s. 8d. which with the sum of £14 5s. 4d. due him before made up the sum of £20 and George Parker also paid in cash £7 3s. 4d, which with the sum of £12 16s. 8d., due him before made the sum of £20. Daniel Rodney, James Wiltbank, and Cor- nelius Wiltbank each agreed to advance the sum of £20, Cornelius Paynter and Samuel Paynter, Junr, £20, John Cole and Daniel Woolf, £20, John Parker, William Burton, £10 between them and Woodman Stockley since agreed to advance £10.
And Daniel Rodney was requested by the Trustees to draw a mortgage deed by Saturday next to be executed and de- livered to the persons above mentioned.
Saturday, January 12th, 1799. All the Trustees met and Daniel Rodney presented the deed agreeable to their request last meeting and the same was executed by Daniel Rodney, Samuel Paynter, Cornelius Wiltbank, George Parker, William Burton, and Cornelius Paynter, according to the above agreement. Elijah Cannon agreed to pay Peter Robinson's debt of £4 amount of his subscription to repair Court House which was for £6.

Cornelius and James Wiltbank produced receipts to the amount of £40 from William Arnell, Walter Hudson and Robert Brereton is in full for their shares as mentioned in the mortgage deed, £40.
Daniel Rodney also presented his amount for payment made to Frederick Row, as Clerk, for two years, one year at 10 and one at 12 dollars, £8 5s. Od .; Do to Hester McHam on her Bond £15 9s. 3d., and a balance due him at settle- ment of his amount for repairing Old Court House last Easter, £1 17s. 4d., amounting in all to £25 11s. 7d.
Cr: being balance in his hands for rent of Lott £2 4s. 8d., which leaves £3 6s. 11d. due him over the sum of £20 he agreed to advance.
Daniel Woolf paid his share being £10 to Caleb Rodney per receipt shown the Trustees.
John Cole paid his share by taking up Bond from Jno. Woolf assigned by H. McHam balance £10.

Easter Monday, being the 25th March, 1799, the Trustees of St. Peter's Church, together with the Wardens and several of the Vestry, met at the old Court House in Lewes when the Trustees, Wardens, and Vestrymen that were appointed last Easter (no objection being made) were continued for the ensuing year.
March the 8th, 1800. The Trustees met this day agree- ably to notice and agreed to rent the old Court House (and

Church lot at the expiration of Richard Howard's lease) to Simon Marriner for one year, he paying the thirty pounds rent, to bind himself not to suffer any person to play at cards or dice in said house during said term and to cause the chimneys to be clean swept at least once a month when fires are kept in them.
Also appointed Daniel Rodney and George Parker to settle with James Elliott-the former tenant.
Agreeably to appointment the committee met Monday the tenth of March, after crediting him with the following sums vizt .:
For paint, oil and Jug £2 17s. 3d. For pails in back yard, door &ca. as valued by Isaac Turner and Jno. Rodney pr their bill £4 18s. 3d. and Trustees Bond assigned to him by John Cole balance due thereon, £10 14s. 3d.
Also a deduction for the last years' rent the term for which he took it not having yet expired, £2 19s. 4d.
There was the sum of £19 4s. 10d. due the Trustees towards the last year's rent, which the said James Elliott has acknowl- edged under his hand.
By ten dollars January 23d, 1801 and twenty-four dollars August 10th, is thirty-four dollars.
James Elliott also paid George Parker 8/8 dollars, May, 1800.
Easter Monday being the fourteenth of April, Anno Dom- ini, 1800, several Trustees, Vestrymen and other members of the Congregation met and proceeded to business when the following officers were appointed, vizt .: Samuel Paynter, Sr, Cornelius Wiltbank, Wardens; Jacob Hazzard, John Woolf, John Maul, Richard Howard, William Polk, Burton John- son, Samuel Paynter, Junr., John Parker, Daniel Woolf, William Cord, Levin Ennis, and Elijah Cannon, Vestry for 1800.
Also at same time William Woolf, Esqr .. was appointed lay delegate to represent this Congregation in the State Conven- tion to be held in Dover the first Tuesday in May next, and that Eight Dollars be appropriated to pay in to the Treasurer of sd. Convention together with his expenses.
The Wardens and Vestry adjourned and agreed to meet again on Saturday the third of May next.
Saturday, third of May, 1800. The Wardens and Vestry met and continued the Rev. James Wiltbank as the pastor of this Church for the ensuing year.

Easter Monday, April 6th, 1801. The Wardens, Vestry, and Trustees met at the old Court House in Lewes.
The Wardens and Vestrymen appointed last Easter were continued and appointed for the following year.
At same time Samuel Paynter, Junr., was appointed lay delegate to represent the Church or Congregation in the State Convention to be held in New Castle, Tuesday, the fifth of May next, and case he should not be able to attend Cor- nelius Wiltbank should attend in his stead. And Daniel Rodney, Chairman of the Trustees was requested to advance to said delegate four dollars as the contribution of the said Church to the general Convention also his expenses in at- tending at New Castle.
Trustees for the year 1801: Daniel Rodney, Chairman; Samuel Paynter, senr., George Parker, Cornelius Wiltbank, William Burton, Elijah Cannon, Junr., Cornelius Paynter, were all present except Samuel Paynter, Senr., when it was agreed that Daniel Rodney and George Parker should be authorized to repair the Church wall and gate.
Also to rent the old Court House to Simon Marriner for the ensuing year for the sum of £27 10s.
April 6th, 1801. Simon Marriner paid £18 15s. and March the seventeenth 1802, he paid £10 18s. to Daniel Woolf for his share of the mortgage which is in full for his first year's rent and 13s. towards this year's rent which was due March the -, 1802.
Easter Monday, April 19th, 1802. At a meeting of the Wardens, Vestry, and other members of the Congregation, present the Rev. James Wiltbank. It was agreed to re- ceive him as pastor to officiate in said Church one Sunday in four weeks in the forenoon and one Sunday in four weeks in the afternoon.
It was also agreed to appoint John McCracken Sexton of the said Church, to give him Ten Dollars pr Ann. for ringing the bell, cleaning the Church, &ca., and two dollars extra if there should be preaching on other days besides Sundays. At same time Samuel Paynter, senr., was appointed a dele- gate to represent this Church in the State Convention to meet at Lewes the first Tuesday in May next.
Also Daniel Rodney, Chairman of the Trustees, is di- rected to advance four dollars to be paid to the State Con- vention towards defraying the expenses of the General Con- vention.

It was further resolved that Daniel Rodney, Chairman of the Trustees, should pay unto William Burton his share of the mortgage given him and others by the Trustees in the year 1799, the principal of which is £5 and Interest according.
It was also agreed with Simon Marriner to rent him the Old Court House for the ensuing year at £25 10s. pr annum, commencing the eighth or tenth of March, 1803. The lot below the Church yard on Third Street, except a pound round the stable, is to remain in possession of the Trus- tees, and it is understood that in consequence of the rent being lowered since last year, they are at liberty to rent the aforesaid lower lotts to any other person.
And it was further agreed that Simon Marriner should have a credit towards the rent now due from him for any sum he should pay unto Parson Wiltbank towards his share of the Mortgage due from the Trustees and that Daniel Rodney is hereby authorized to pay the balance of said share of mortgages out of any money in his hands not otherways appropriated this day.

Wardens elected or continued: Samuel Paynter, Senr., and Cornelius Wiltbank. Vestry for the ensuing year continued and elected: Jacob Hazzard, John Wolfe, John Maull, Thomas Warrington, Richard Howard, Burton Johnson, John Parker, Daniel Wolfe, William Payn- ter, and Stephen Warrington.
On the same day the following appropriation of money was made, vizt., which the chairman was authorized to pay: To pay John McCracken for ringing bell, &cª, $10 and he was continued at same rate for ensuing year.
Also to pay the following persons in part of their Interest due on Mortgage, vizt: Danl. Rodney, $6; George Parker, $6; Saml Paynter, Jun., $3; Saml. Paynter, Senr., $6; Cor- nelius Wiltbank, $6; Cornels. Paynter, $3.
At same time Samuel Paynter, Senr., was appointed lay delegate to represent this Church in the Convention to be held in George Town in May next. Danl Rodney was directed to pay unto the aforesaid Samuel Paynter $4, as the contribution of this Church to the General Con- vention.
It was also agreed to continue the Revd. James Wilt- bank as pastor of said Church the ensuing year to officiate as minister and preach every third Sunday and to be paid out of the pew tax that may be collected not to exceed one hundred Dollars.

Easter Monday, April the fifteenth, A. D. 1805. At a meeting of the Wardens, Vestry, and other members of the congregation of St. Peter's Church, at Lewes, Samuel Paynter, Senr, and Cornelius Wiltbank were appointed Wardens for the ensuing year, and Jacob Hazzard, John Wolfe, John Maull, Samuel Paynter, Junr., David Johnson, John Parker, Thomas Warrington, Richard Howard, James Elliott, Daniel Wolfe, William Paynter and Sylvester Webb were chosen Vestrymen for the ensuing year. Also the following per- sons were elected Trustees for the ensuing year, vizt: Daniel Rodney, Chairman; Samuel Paynter, Senr, Cornelius Wilt- bank, John Wolfe, Cornelius Paynter, George Parker, and William Burton.
