W. A. BREWER, JR.,

PRESIDENT

ASSETS, - $11,000,000

The First Thing to be Considered in Life Insurance Investments is Safety.

THE INVESTMENTS of THE WASHINGTON are Bonds and Mortgages (first liens on real estate) and United States and New York State Stocks and Bonds, in compliance with the Laws of the State of New York.

The excellent quality of THE WASHINGTON's investments is seen in the fact that. on the first day of June, 1890, there remained only about one-half of one per cent. of interest due and unpaid.

The Policies of the Washington are easily defined.

THEY ARE-Non-forfeitable.

THEY ARE-Unrestricted as to residence and travel after two years.

THEY ARE-Incontestable after two years.

THEY ARE-Secured by an Invested Reserve.

THEY ARE-Solidly backed by Bonds and Mortgages, first liens on Real Estate. THEY ARE-Safer than Railroad Securities.

THEY ARE-Not affected by the Stock Market.

THEY ARE-Better paying investments than U. S. Bonds.

THEY ARE-Less expensive than Assessment Certificates.

THEY ARE-More liberal than the law requires.

THEY ARE-Definite contracts.

Immediate settlement of claims.

All Lite Policies contain guaranteed cash surrender values THE FULL RESERVE.

IOWA IMMIGRATION BUREAU,

J. P. BUSHNELL, Commissioner. Rooms 409 and 410 lowa Loan and Trust Bullding.

General Office, Des Moines.

A Commissioner for each County and a Correspondent for each City and Town in the State.

The Bureau will co-operate with the various Boards of Trade, Citizens', Associations and Rea }' Estate Associations of our State, and all enterprising bodies interested in the development of the vast and varied resources of Iowa.

In view of the fact that Iowa has no immigration commission to look after the development of her resources by inviting the better class of immigrants to locate in this state, it is left entirely to the enter- prising citizens of the state to do this work, and for this purpose the Iowa Immigration Bureau was. organized, as a business association, for the general good of the state, but we must necessarily ask the co-operation of her enterprising citizens.

The objects of the Bureau arelto invite Immigration, Promote Industrial Enterprises, and Encourage Every Laudable Undertaking Calculated to Develop the Material Interests of lowa.

Many inquiries are being received from eastern parties with ref- erence to new locations for the establishment of various industries, and what these parties want, especially, is to know the resources and ad- vantages and the enducements offered for all kinds of agricultural and mechanical pursuits, and desirability as a home.

The Bureau will publish a new work entitled IOWA RESOURCES and INDUSTRIES,

Information for Those Seeking New Homes or Business Locations in the West. I

A Hand Book of Useful Information of Iowa is being compiled and will be published as soon as full information of the resources and advantages of our state is secured. For the information of those . looking for new homes in the West it will be important, also to us as a State, that all learn the fact that lowa is the most inviting field for the capitalist or home-seeker.

. The publication will be a reference work setting forth the resources and advantages of the state in general, its history, tpography, agricultural and mineral resources; mining and manufacturing in trerests; stock raising: dairying; horticulture; forestry; educational interests; railway facilities; re- ports of the state institutions giving the officers of each, and state, county, city and town officers; a directory of the educational institutions of the state; census of Iowa in 1890: complete postoffice and newspaper directories, and information for those seeking new homes or investment for capital, etc., etc. Our State and county officers are giving us every encouragement, but we ask the co-operation of all enterprising citizens of our State. As soon as the publication is ready for delivery we will so in- form the public through the newspapers of our State.
