DES MOINES, - . IOWA
GEo. C. NEWMAN. President W. V. FINK, Vice President! FREDERICK PHINS BY, Manager and Musical Directe JOHN E. NEWMAN, Secretary and Treasurer. : 5
THE IOWA STATE BAND Was organized by FREDERICK PHINNEY in 1886. A great deal of money has been expended for the finest instruments in the world, and the association are determine to keep it as it ubs is one of the very best hand- in the country. The band has created a wide spread reputation, and. 1 it - playing has been applauded by the people throughout the country wherever it has played. : Their rendition of music is exquisite, and the public congratulates the management for their ability, courage and success in establishing a band which ranks as the peer of the whole northwest. ;
..
PRESS NOTICES.
The lowa State Band that we heard last night was the real State Band. Recently there have been so many demands for this celebrated Band that it has been obliged to accomplished the impossible feat of being in more than one place at a time. But last night the whole band was here, from Prof. Phinney down to the humblest member: they were all there, and how they did play! Nearly every piece that was played was greeted by the crowd with applanke that was deserved. . The fine and difficult points in the work of the band may escape all but a critical few, left the general public is quick to appreciate and applaud the work of the band. - Iowa STATE REGISTER.
When the lowa State Band plays the whole air is full of music. The instrumente blend perfectly, shaking one full and complete harmony. There is no blast and blare and bursting tone, but a soft mel- lowness that is a delight to the ear. Is it the material of which the instruments are made, or is it the manner in which they are played that makes the Iowa State Band differ in this respect from other good bands. - DES MOINES LEADER.
The Iowa State Band is an organization of the best musicial talent obtainable, led by an 'expert musicial.director, run-as a business institution, and backed by a number of the progressive. business men of the city. It cannot fail to achieve the great reputation it aims for-that of being enrolled upon the list of the best band organizations in the United States. The membership of the band comprises & company of skilled musicians and perfect gentlemen .- DES MOINES MAIL. AND TIMES.
Des Moines has done many graceful things, * * * but the best thing Des Moines has done in in furnishing the material that has made the lowA STATE BAND possible. We confidently believe that never has there been in the Styte of lowa a musical organization which has served the people with so much satisfaction, and refined their musical tastes, as this splendid Band. We are pleased that we have one organization in our State that can sit forevening after evening and correctly interpret the great works of our greatest masters. One of the |pleasing features of this Band is that it is void of the harsh . sounds which are so common in the ordinary brass bands, and the longer they stay the more their music is appriciated and loved. - OTTUMWA COURRIER.
BE SURE TO HEAR THEM AT IOWA STATE FAIR.
