WILLIAM H. JENKINS, T. Lyle Dickey Post No. 105, Pontiac. Born in Miami Co .. Ohio, Jan. 11, 1846. Dec. 1863, he enlisted in Co. C. 39th Ill. Inf. (Yates Phalanx) and served until May, 1865, in the Army of the James In Virginia. He was severely wounded in the neck and shoulder at the battle of Drurys Bluff on the 15th of May, 1864, after spending three months in the hospital he rejoined his regiment and on the 13th of Oct. 1864, was severely wounded in the leg at the battle of Darbytown Cross Roads. From the effects of which his leg was amputated. Is Post Com- mander of T. Lyle Dickey Post No. 105, Pontiac.

HENRY T. LEWIS, Geo. H. Thomas Post No. 5, Chicago. Born Feb. 21, 1846, in Pittsburg, Pa. Enlisted as Priv. in Signal Corps, U. S. A., Oct. 10, 1863. After a short season in the camp of instruction at Georgetown, D. C., was ordered to So. Carolina, where he took part in the engagements on the islands off Charleston. In the long siege and final evacuation of that city, Was at Fort Sumter on the occasion when Maj. Anderson raised the old flag over the fort at the close of the war. Heavy Art .. and discharged for disability April 30. 1862. Regiment occupied Forts Richardson and Scott at Washington as Heavy Art., and was not in any battles until after May, 1862.

Maj. at Indianapolis, Ind., June 9, 1865. Served in 1st Div .. 14th Army Corps, and engaged in following battles and campaigns: Chap- lin Hills (Perryville) (was struck by fragment of shell, slight wound), Hoover's Gap, Duck River, Hills- boro, Tullahoma, Elk River, Dug Gap, Chickamagua, Siege of Chattanooga, Lookout Mountain, Missionary Ridge, Grayville, Ringgold, Atlanta campaign, fighting battles of Buzzard Roost, Resaca (where he was se- verely wounded ). After some months of hospital service with Sherman rejoined regiment via N. Y., by transport to Wilmington, N. C .; Bentonville; march through Richmond to Washington. Was on the grand review when Regt. was sent to Indianapolis, Ind., for muster out.

Engaged in following battles and campaigns: Kilpatrick's raid against Richmond, first day of Wilderness, with Sheridan at Beaver Dam Station, fight with Stuart's Cavalry at Yellow Tavern (where I received a slight wound), Hanover Ct. House, Ashland, Hawe's Shop Riddle's Shop, Turkey Island Creek, Wilson's Raid Ream's Station, Stony Creek. Opequon, Tom's Brook, where Gen. Custer thrashed his old schoolmate Gen. Rosser, Regiment covered itself with glory at Cedat Creek, capturing many prisoners and much valuable war material. After muster out was put on detached duty, and witnessed the surrender of Gen. R. E. Lee.

JAS. HUBBARD, Gen, Geo. A. Custer Post No. 40, Cht- cago. Born Dundee, 111., April 13, 1844. Enlisted Dec. 3, 1863, in Co. F, 15th Ill. Inf. Transferred to Co. E. 14th & 15th Ill. Vet. Bat. Discharged Sept. 16, 1865. Took part in the campaign from Vicksburg to Meridian, Miss., and the Atlanta campaign. Was ome of Sher- man's boys that marched to the sea. Was at the capture of Savannah, Ga. After leaving Savannah was detailed to the 1st Minn. Bat'y and served in that through the Carolinas, Virginia and Maryland to Washington. Was in the Grand Parade. The Bat'y was then discharged and he was sent back to his regiment, which was later sent to Fort Leavenworth. Kan., and from there out to Fort Kerney, Neb., and from there back to Leavenworth and home.
HENRY LEWIS, Geo. II. Thomas Post No. 5, Chicago, Born Sept. 3. 1×35, at Krakan, Poland. Enlisted Sept. 16. 1861, at New York City, in Co. J. 58th N. Y. Vol. Inf. Served in the Army of the Potomac in all the battles of Shenandoah Valley. Was wounded while color bearer at Cross Keys. Taken prisoner on bat- tle field and was in hospital at Lynchburg and later in Belle Isle and Richmond, and after bring ex- changed served as Hospital Steward for some months at City Point. Va. From there returned to Pagt, and with it all of its battles up to date of discharge.

ALBERT E. GAGE, Old Glory Post No. 798 Chicago. Born Aug, 15, 1845. Veteran Co, F. 37th Ills. V. I., (Illinois Greyhounds). Service 1861-1866. At the age of 15 years was under fire alone in advance of the army, In line at Pea Ridge, Prairie Grove, Vicksburg, Mobile, two years Guerilla warfare in the quickest long distance forced march ever made and in the last grand charge at Fort Blakely, April 9, 1865, Saved the gov- ernment a Million in money from robbers in Texas 1866. Organized the Blue and Gray Legion 1898 and Blue and Gray as United American Veterans at Gettys- burg, July 4, 1913.
LOUIS P. BERRY, Geo. H. Thomas Post No. 5, Chicago. Born May 17, 1835, at Washington, Ind. Enlisted July 8, 1861, as 2nd Lt. Co. E. 23 Ind. V. Inf. for 3 years. Discharged as 2nd Lt. Sept. 10, 1864, at Atlanta, Ga., serving 3 years, 2 months and 2 days. Fought at Bel- mont, Ft. Henry, Ft. Donelson, Shiloh, Corinth, Iuka, 49 U. S. Inf., serving as Indian Agent, resigning Oct. 30, 1870, Commissioned Lt. Col of an Ill, Regt, in 1878 for the Spanish-American War.
EDWIN DRURY, Geo. H. Thomas Post No. 3, Chicago. Born Nov. 12, 1842, in Lake Co., Ill. Enlisted Aug. 9, 1862, at Waukegan, as Priv., Co. G, 96th Regt. Ill. Vol. Inf. Discharegd June 10, 1865, at Nashville, Tenn. After the battle of Chickamauga there was a reor- ganIzation of the army and his regiment became at- tached to the 2nd Brig,, 1st Div., of the 4th Army Corps, under Gen. Gordon Granger, afterwards com- manded by Gens. Howard, Stanley and T. J. Wood. While with his regiment participated in following bat- tles and campaigns: Defense of Cincinnati, Fort Don- elson, Spring Hill, Tenn .; Triune, Tenn .: Liberty Gap, Shelbyville, Buzzard Roost, Rockyface Ridge, Dalton. Resaca, Kingston, Pumpkin Vine Creek, New Hope Church.
QUARTU'S H. CHAPIN, Geo. H. Thomas Post No. 5. Chicago. Born July 6, 1844, at Chicopee, Mass. En- listed Sept. 18, 1862, as private Bat'y F, 1st Reg. Ill. Lt. Art, and discharged at Chicago. Ill., July 10, 1865. Served in the 4th Div. 15th and 17th Army Corps, and engaged In following battles and campaigns: Siege of Vicksburg, Jackson, Missionary Ridge, Resaca, Dallas, New Hope Church, Black Jack Knob, Kenesaw Moun- tain, Nickajack Creek, Atlanta, July (20, 21 & 22), Ezra Church, on the Right of Atlanta, Jonesboro, Love Joy Station, thence to Chattanooga and Nashville, in reserve, being consolidated with Bat'y A, stationed in Fort Chattanooga, mustered out at close of war, Past Commander Post No. 5.

CHARLES W. CROCKER, Geo. H. Thomas Post No. 5, Chicago. Born Sept. 16, 1842, in Barnstable, Mass. Came to Chicago in 1880: admited to Geo. H. Thomas Post No. 5 in 1886. Enlisted July 31, 1862, as private Co. E, 40th Reg. Mass. Vols. for three years and was dis- charged therefrom as private at close of the war at Richmond, Va., June 16, 1865. Took part in the fol- lowing battles and campaigns: In 1862 and 1863 served with my regiment in the defenses of Washing- ton; slege of Suffolk, Va., West Point and White House Landing. Was with the advance of the Army of the Potomac on Petersburg and in the several engage- ments on the right of the line during the summer of 1864. Was with the 1st Div. 18th Army Corps in Sept. 1864, in the taking of Fort Harrison and in the Army of the James in the Richmond front until close of war. Entered Richmond, Vt., April 3, 1865, upon Lee's evacuation.
