WARRANT FOR ANNUAL TOWN MEETING 1
COMMONWEALTH OF MASSACHUSETTS
NORFOLK, ss.
To the Constables of the Town of Weymouth in said County. GREETING:
In the name of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, you are hereby required to notify and warn the inhabitants of Weymouth aforesaid qualified to vote in Town affairs to meet at Odd Fellows Opera House, East Weymouth, Mass., on Monday, the 3rd day of March, 1924, at seven o'clock and forty-five minutes in the even- ing, then and there to act upon the following articles, namely :
General Administration
Article 1. To choose all necessary Town officers, other than those elected by ballot, viz .: Public Weighers, Surveyors of Wood, Lumber and Bark, two or more Fence Viewers, two or more Field Drivers, one Pound Keeper, a Planning Board and an Electric Light Committee.
Art. 2. To hear and act upon the reports of the several boards of Town Officers and of any committee appointed at any former meeting and to choose any committees the Town may think proper.
Art. 3. To see if the Town will vote to authorize its Treas- urer, with the approval of its Selectmen, to borrow money in anticipation of the revenue of the current financial year.
Art. 4. To see if the Town will vote to authorize its Treas- urer, with the approval of its Selectmen, on or after January first, 1925, to borrow money in anticipation of the revenue of the year 1925.
Art. 5. To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for a reserve fund.
Art. 6. To see if the Town will designate the Weymouth Trust Company, the First National Bank of Boston and the

National Shawmut Bank of Boston as legal depositories for the funds of the Town, and the Weymouth Trust Company as legal depository for the securities of the Town.
Art. 7. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropri- ate the sum of $5,886.87 for the payment of Weymouth's por- tion towards the cost of repairs and maintenance of Norfolk County Hospital for the year 1923.
Art. 8. To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate, or will appropriate, for the payment of unpaid bills for the year 1923.
Town Survey
Art. 9. To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for the maintenance of the Town survey system, or take any action in relation thereto.
Art. 10. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropri- ate the sum of three hundred dollars for the purpose of erect- ing bound stones on accepted highways.
Taxes and Interest
Art. 11. To determine in what manner taxes shall be col- lected the current year, and to fix the rate of interest on all taxes remaining unpaid after the time fixed for payment.
Art. 12. To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for the payment of interest which may become due the current year.
Printing and Advertising
Art. 13. To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for printing and advertising.
Shade Trees and Suppression of Moths
Art. 14. To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for the preservation of shade trees, the same to be expended under the direction of the Tree Warden.
Art. 15. To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for the suppression of gypsy and brown- tail moths, or take any other action in relation thereto.
State and Military Aid and Soldiers' Relief
Art. 16. To see what sum of money the Town will appro- priate for the payment of State and Military Aid, and for bur- ials under the provisions of Chapter 115, Section 3, of the Gen- eral Laws, and to determine how much of the same shall be raised by taxation.
Art. 17. To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for the relief of disabled soldiers and sea- men, and families of disabled soldiers and seamen under Chap- ter 115, Section 17, General Laws.

Schools
Art. 18. To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for the support of public schools and the transportation of pupils to and from school.
Art. 19. On petition: To see what action the Town will take for the purpose of securing a degree of parity in the sal- aries of the teachers in the Weymouth public schools in com- parison with the salaries paid in towns of like size, and to see what sum of money the Town will raise and appropriate therefor.
Art. 20. To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for the purpose of purchasing or securing land for a' playground and athletic field for use in connection with the High School, or take any other action in relation thereto.
Art. 21. To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise, by loan or otherwise, and appropriate for the construction and original equipment of a schoolhouse in North Weymouth, or take any other action in relation thereto.
Public Parks
Art. 22. To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for the care and maintenance of the parks of Weymouth, the same to be expended under the supervision of the Park. Commissioners.
Art. 23. To see if the Town will raise and appropriate the sum of $300 for a cement curbing around the green on Great Hill Park.
Art. 24. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropri- : ate the sum of $75,000 to purchase a strip of land about 500 feet in width now owned by Peter B. and Robert S. Bradley adjoining Great Hill Park on the northerly and westerly sides and extending to the water front and to conform with any development plans of said Bradleys, and, if purchased, to be given a right of way from Neck or North Streets to the pro- posed strip of land to be bought by the Town.
Art. 25. By request: To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate $800 to complete Bradley Road, within the limits of Great Hill Park, or to take any other action in relation thereto.
Fire Department
Art. 26. To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for the support of the Fire Department.
Police Department
Art. 27. To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for police service.
Town Officers, Election and Town Offices
Art. 28. To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for the payment of Town officers.

Art. 29. To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for election expenses.
Art. 30. To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for rent and expenses of Town offices.
Public Library and Reading-Room
Art. 31. To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for Tufts Library.
Art. 32. To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for the maintenance of a reading-room in the Fogg Library.
Art. 33. To see if the Town will raise and appropriate the sum of fifteen hundred dollars for the establishment and main- tenance of a reading-room in East Weymouth, this reading-room to be under the supervision of the Trustees of Tufts Library.
Public Charity
Art. 34. To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for the relief and support of the poor.
Street Lighting
Art. 35. To see if the Town will authorize the Electric Light Committee to contract with the Weymouth Light & Power Co. for furnishing lights for the Town, or act in any manner relat- ing thereto.
Art. 36. To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for lighting of streets.
Art. 37. On petition: To see if the Town will place elec- tric lights from the corner of West and Summer Streets to the West Street Railroad Crossing.
Health Department
Art. 38. To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for the services and expenses of the Board of Health.
Art. 39. By request: To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate the sum of $1,000 for the employment of district or other nurses under the provisions of the General Laws, Chap- ter 40, Section 5.
Art. 40. By request: To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate the sum of $1,000 for the support of a dental clinic, under the provisions of the General Laws, Chapter 40, Section 5.

Art. 43. On petition : To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate the necessary sum of money to give all-year water in Lakewood Grove and the Birches.
Ways and Bridges
Art. 44. To see what sum of money the Town will vote to. raise and appropriate for the repairs of highways, townways,. bridges and street oiling, and for the removal of snow.
Art. 45. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropri- ate the sum of $5,000 for the building of permanent sidewalks, the same to be expended under the provisions of the Betterment Act.
Art. 46. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropri- ate the sum of $9,800 for the reconstruction with macadam pavement, of Broad Street, from Central Square to Jackson Square, on northerly side of the car track, or to take any action relating thereto.
Art. 47. To see if the Town will vote to instruct the Se- lectmen to petition the Eastern Massachusetts Street Railway Company to discontinue that portion of their track on Broad Street, between Jackson Square and Madison Street.
Art. 48. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropri- ate $20,000 for the completion of Washington Street, on the- north side of the car track, between Lincoln Square and Wash- ington Square; also, to continue the construction of Broad Street to Central Square, and to complete the construction of Middle Street from where work left off in 1922 to Central Square, or to take any other action relating thereto.
Art. 49. On petition : To see if the Town will raise and ap- propriate the sum of $500 for the purpose of repairing Derby Street and sidewalk from Main Street to Harold B. Klingemar Square at South Weymouth Railway Station.
Art. 50. On petition : To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate the sum of $700 to repair Iron Hill Street.
Art. 51. On petition: To see if the Town will raise and ap- propriate a sum of money for the repair of the sidewalk om Ralph Talbot Street, between No. 7 to No. 77.
Art. 52. On petition : To see what sum of money the Town will raise and appropriate for a sidewalk and other repairs om Humphrey Street.

Art. 53. On petition: To see if the Town will raise and ap- propriate the sum of $1,200 for properly grading and draining of Shawmut Street, from Broad Street to Lake Street, and thence westerly on Lake Street about 300 feet.
Art. 54. On petition: To see if the Town will raise and ap- propriate $200 for the purpose of working the relocation and rounding of the northerly corner at the intersection of Wash- ington Street and Pleasant Street, as accepted by the Town at its annual meeting held March 11, 1912.
Art 55. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropri- ate $1,000 for street signs and guide boards, or to take any other action thereto.
Art. 56. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropri- ate a sum of money to reimburse Edwin Clapp & Son, Inc., to the extent of one-half the cost of a sidewalk on Charles Street, to reimburse Bessie K. Hunt one-half the cost of a sidewalk at 718 Broad Street, to reimburse Minot P. Carey one-half the cost of a sidewalk at 717 and 719 Broad Street and to reimburse F. Wayland Preston one-half the cost of a sidewalk in front of his new block on Broad Street. These sidewalks were built in 1923 and they paid the whole cost.
Art. 57. To see if the Town will accept the report of the Selectmen upon the laying out as a townway of the private way, leading from the easterly side of Union Street, and known as May Terrace.
Art. 58. To see if the Town will raise and appropriate any sum of money for the purpose of working May Terrace as a townway.
Art. 59. On petition : To see if the Town will vote to accept the report of the Selectmen upon extending Beals Street through to Norton Street as a. public way.
Art. 60. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropri- ate any sum of money for working the same.
Art. 61. On petition: To see if the Town will accept the report of the Selectmen upon the laying out as a townway the private way known as Johnson Road.
Art. 62. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropri- ante amy sum for working the same.
Art. 63. On petition: To see if the Town will accept the report of the Selectmen upon the laying out of a townway the private way known as Pecksuot Road.
Art. 64. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropri- ate any sum of money for working the same.
Art. 65. On petition: To see if the Town will accept the report of the Selectmen upon the laying out of a townway the private way known as Suwanee Road, in Hia-Leah, so called.
Art. 66. On petition: To see if the Town will accept the report of the Selectmen upon the laying out of a townway the

private way known as Pine Circle, lying in Great Pond Park, so called.
Art. 67. On petition : To see if the Town will vote to accept the report of the Selectmen upon the laying out as a townway the private way known as Great Pond Road, lying in Great Pond Park, so called.
Art. 68. On petition: To see if the Town will accept the report of the Selectmen upon the laying out of a townway the private way known as Taylor Street which runs from the north- erly side of Columbian Street in a northerly direction for some four hundred feet, and if the street is accepted, it shall be known as Shaw Road.
Art. 69. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropri- ate any sum of money for working the same.
Art. 70. On petition : To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for the purpose of building a sidewalk on the easterly side of Main Street, in said Town, from the intersection of Middle and Main Streets and running from that point to the residence of Louis H. Ells, or to see what action the Town will take in reference thereto.
Art. 71. By request: To see if the Town will indemnify the Commonwealth of Massachusetts against any and all claims for land, grade and drainage damages which may be caused by result from the laying out, construction or reconstruction of any State highway in the Town during the present year, and will authorize the Board of Selectmen to sign an indemnity agree- ment in behalf of the Town, or take any action with respect hereto.
Miscellaneous Articles
Art. 72. To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for Memorial Day.
Art. 73. To determine in what manner the alewive fishery shall be conducted the present year, and to see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for said fishery.
Art. 74. To see if the Town will authorize its Selectmen to commence suit for the recovery of any money or property due it, or to prosecute a bill in equity or any other proceedings in court when in their judgment it is expedient in the interests of the Town to do so.
Art. 75. To see if the Town will authorize its Selectmen to sell any real estate of which it may be possessed and for which it has no further use.
Art. 76. To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for the miscellaneous expenses.
Art. 77. On petition: To see if the Town will vote to im- struct the Selectmen to sell at public auction the lockup property located in Ward Three, including land and buildings.

Art. 78. On petition: To see what sum of money the Town will raise and appropriate for the collection of garbage in the Town of Weymouth.
Art. 79. To see if the Town will accept as a gift from Bradford Hawes a piece of land containing about four acres adjoining the Lovell's Corner Playground, the same being suitable for development as a picnic grove.
Art. 80. On petition: To see what action the Town will take on the matter of granting licenses for the exhibition of moving pictures in the Town of Weymouth on the Lord's Day.
Art. 81. On petition: That the Town Counsel or others, as the Town may decide, be instructed to investigate gas and electricity rates in the Town and take proper action to secure a reduction as deemed advisable.
