WARRANT FOR SPECIAL TOWN MEETING COMMONWEALTH OF MASSACHUSETTS
NORFOLK, ss.
To the Constables of the Town of Weymouth in said County. GREETING:
In the name of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts you are hereby required to notify and warn the inhabitants of the Town of Weymouth aforesaid, who are qualified to vote in Town affairs, to meet at the hall of the Weymouth High School, on Wednesday, the twelfth day of November, 1924, at seven o'clock and forty- five minutes in the evening, then and there to act upon the fol- lowing articles, namely :
Article 1. To see if the Town will vote to appropriate from any available funds a sum of money for insuring Town prop- erty and expenses incident thereto, the same to be in addition to the amount appropriated at the Annual Town Meeting, or to take any action relative to the insuring of Town property, or the appropriation of money therefor.
Article 2. To see if the Town will vote to appropriate from any available funds the sum of $1,350 for the purchase of eighty- five (85) fire-extinguishers, same to be installed in school build- ings of the Town; and for the installation of a fire-door at the High School building.
Article 3. To see if the Town will vote to accept the gift, from Mrs. Frances Clapp, of a strip of land at the southwesterly corner of Broad and Middle Streets.
Article 4. To see if the Town will accept the provisions in its favor contained in the will and codicils of Laban Pratt, deceased, late of Boston, to wit: "Giving to the Town the sum of $300,000 for the purpose of establishing and maintaining a hospital at Weymouth Heights, in the neighborhood of the Old North Church, said funds to be managed and controlled by the Town in such manner as it may deem wise and expedient." Also the gift to Tufts Library of books of the deceased and pictures of Abraham Lincoln, General Grant and John Brown.
Article 5. To see if the Town will vote to appropriate, from any available funds, $2,000 for highway repairs and removal of ledge at Central Square, or take any action in relation thereto.
ARTICLE 6. To see if the Town will vote to appropriate from the revenue of the Water Department the sum of $212.50 for the payment of interest.
Article 7. To hear the reports of any committees appointed at any previous meeting, and take any action thereon.
Article 8. To see if the Town will appropriate from any available funds the sum of $50 to reimburse John A. Hutchins for a coat that was destroyed in the performance of his duty, the same sum of money having been awarded by the Court and paid to the Town Treasurer. .
Article 9. On petition: To see what sum of money the Town will vote to appropriate from any available funds for the Police Department.
You are directed to serve this warrant by posting a copy thereof, attested by you in writing, in each of two public places in each voting precinct in said town, seven days at least before the time for holding said meeting called for in this warrant.

I have this day served the within warrant by posting a copy thereof, attested by me in writing in each of two places in said voting precincts in said town of Weymouth seven days before the time of holding said meeting.

Weymouth, Nov. 12, 1924.
Pursuant to the foregoing warrant, a special meeting of the inhabitants of the Town of Weymouth, represented by the Town Meeting Members; was held at the hall of the Weymouth High School on Middle Street, East Weymouth, this Wednesday even- ing, November 12, 1924. The meeting was called to order by Hon. George L. Barnes, annual moderator, who requested the Town Clerk to read the warrant for the meeting .. After read- ing the call for said meeting it was voted that the reading of the several articles be omitted. The Town Clerk then read the last three paragraphs of the warrant and the names of the Selectmen and the return of the Constable who served the warrant.
Before proceeding to the business of the warrant the follow- ing were sworn in as Town Meeting Members: William Hyde, Willie E. Tirrell, Peter F. Hughes, Eva L. Rea, Allan C. Emery, and William Doyle.
The Town Clerk by unanimous consent was given permission to correct the records of the special session of June 30, 1924 under Article 30 the amendments to appoint 4 additional mem- bers of a committee to investigate the needs of the Fire Depart- ment.
Article 1. Voted: That there be appropriated from money in the treasury of the town not otherwise appropriated, and in addition to an appropriation of $8,000 made at the annual meet- ing in March, 1924, under article 83 of the warrant for that meet- img, the sum of $6,913.98, which amount, together with the amount heretofore appropriated, to be used for the obtaining of

fire insurance on buildings and their contents, owned by the town, and to pay for the cost of valuation of the town buildings and their contents made by L. W. Eddy, and for any other expenses necessary for the procuring of said insurance. That the amount of the insurance be in the sum of $1,188,761 for a term of three years from April 1, 1924, and in such form as approved by the- Board of Selectmen and Town Counsel. Said amount, together with the amount heretofore appropriated, to be expended by the. Board of Selectmen for the purposes aforesaid, in such manner as in their judgment will best serve the town. And be it further voted: That the Board of Selectmen are authorized to cancel any fire insurance now outstanding upon the property of the: town, and that the return premiums received by the town on said. cancelled policies, together with return premiums on policies here- tofore cancelled, be appropriated, and used by the Board of Select- men for the purpose above mentioned.
Article 2. Voted: That there be appropriated from money in the treasury of the town, not otherwise appropriated, the sum of $1,350 for the purchase of eighty-five (85) fire extinguishers, same to be installed in school buildings of the town; and for the installation of a fire door at the High School building; said amount to be expended under the direction of the School Committee.
Article 3. Voted: That the town accept the gift and con- veyance from Mrs. Frances Clapp of a strip of land at the south- westerly corner of Broad and Middle Streets, at Weymouth Centre.
Article 4. Voted: That the town accept the provisions in its. favor contained in the will and codicils of Laban Pratt, deceased, late of Boston.
Article 5. Voted: That the town appropriate from money in the treasury of the town not otherwise appropriated, the sum. of $2,000 for the purpose of removing ledge at Central Square. and continuing the repairs on Broad Street to Central Square, the balance to be used for general Highway repairs.
Article 6. Voted: That the town appropriate from the revenue of the Water Department the sum of $212.50 for the pay- ment of the interest.
Article 7. J. H. Libbey, clerk of the committee on additional' school facilities at North Weymouth, read the following report:
"The Committee to consider the matter of additional school facilities at North Weymouth report progress, and that they are- unanimously convinced of the immediate need of a new building: of about eight rooms and hall on the lot near Bicknell Square.
"It is the intention of the Committee to report in full in: print in the annual town report and to have inserted in the town: warrant the necessary articles to bring the matter before the: annual town meeting."

Voted the report be accepted as progressive, and they give: further consideration to the needs of a school playground.
Mr. Guy W. C. Hartt reported for the Committee on Collec- tion of Garbage.
Voted the report be accepted as progressive.
Article 8. Voted: That the town appropriate from money in! the treasury of the town not otherwise appropriated, the sun of $50 to be paid Officer John A. Hutchins for a coat that was

destroyed in the performance of his duties. It is understood that the Quincy Court awarded Mr. Hutchins this sum, and by error it was returned to the town treasury, but rightfully be- longed to Mr. Hutchins.
Article 9. Voted: That the town appropriate from money in the treasury of the town not otherwise appropriated, the sum of $600 for the Police Department.
The officers stationed at the entrance of the hall to check the Town Meeting Members entering, reported 92 members pres- ent.
Voted to adjourn.
