Balance against the town, $416 96

The note held by the heirs of Loring Jacobs has been paid, amount- ing, with interest, to $1051 66.

It will be seen by this, that, should the town raise the same sum as last year, the debts of the town can all be paid, and probably a small surplus remain.

SCITUATE, March 4th, 1848.

JOHN B. TURNER, EBEN'R STETSON, CHARLES VINAL, Selectmen of Scituate.

The above report was made to the town at the adjournment of the annual March meeting, on the first Monday in April, 1847, accompa- nied with avouchers and papers to explain, in detail, the whole or any part thereof.

After consideration, the town voted to recommit said report to the selectmen, with instructions to make a detailed report of the expenses of the town, and cause seven hundred and fifty copies of the same, in- cluding also the tax of every inhabitant of said town, to be printed for distribution.
