The expense of maintaining Little's Bridge and the Hing- ham and Quincy Bridges, estimated at $350, is included in the estimated expense of repairing Roads and Bridges.
The estimated increase in the expense of salaries of Town Officers, is owing, in part, to the extra time required in mak- ing the Decennial Valuation, and, in part, to an increased rate of compensation.
We recommend that the rate of wages of our successors in office, be raised from $1.50 to $2 per day, when employed as Selectmen, Overseers of the Poor, or in performing the ordin- ary duties of Assessors, and that their pay, as assessors, in making the Decennial Valuation (unless established by the Legislature) be $2.50 per day.
GEORGE C. LEE, THOMAS TILDEN, of WM. H. LITCHFIELD. Scituate.
Selectmen
The foregoing Report was submitted to the Town at the An- nual Meeting, March 7, and 500 copies were ordered to be printed. At the meeting, the Town voted to raise, in addition to the sums recommended, $1,090.00, (of which $1,000 was for the repairs of highways), making the whole amount to be raised $16,800.00 and requiring a rate of taxation of $1.53 per $100.
