* On the fifth day of March, 1852, the Overseers of the Poor received notice from the Overseers of the Poor of the Town of Cohasset, that they had rendered assistance to Wm. Morriss, Jr. and wife, and claimed the payment, by Scituate, of the expense thereof, on the ground that the said Morriss and wife had their legal settlement in the Town of Scituate.
Becoming satisfied, from advice of counsel and examination, that their legal settlement was in Scituate, and we should be bound to pay all reasonable bills incurred by Cohasset in their behalf, unless removed from that town within thirty days from the date of notice, and having ascertained by personal observation, and by that of a physician, obtained quite near the close of the period of thirty days, expressly to give his opinion of the case, that the life of Wm. Morris, Jr., (his wife having previously deceased) would be endangered by his removal from the house wherein he then lay sick, we, due time having elapsed, met the Overseers of the Poor of Cohasset, for the purpose of ascertaining the amount justly due upon bills by them presented for our sanction, and the following is the result.
