Sold to John Steevens an acre & half of swampy ground joyning upon ye southeast corner of ye widdowe Steevens her land and ye southwest corner of ye great division of ye John Steevens he paying within a year thirty shillings per in wheat and Indian corne:


Voted and passed that ye committee abovesd shall inspect all shingles made or to be made in ye cedar swamp or else where in oe bounds. & all boards or other timbe wrought or unwrought (except what ye towne hath excepted) are to be sold out of towne or are sold without leave and to seise such shingles, boards or timber & to prosecute ye offenders att ye law either by themselves or by an atturney, & ye towne to satisfie for ye same.


Sold to John Carleton half an acre of land on ye south side of his land he paying after he rate of thirty shillings ye acres as others doe.


Graunted libertie to Joseph Lovejoy to change two acres of land on ye north side ye land he bought of he towne & lay it on ye south side of his land.


Sold to John Parker an acre and half of swampy land at ye southeast corner at his land he paying to ye tome within a year after ye rate of thirty shillings in wheat and Indian corne;


Graunted libertie to Capt Tho Chandler to take a parcell of swamp land in ye Colepitt swamp betwixt ye highway and a parcell of meadowe formerly graunted to Mr. Edmund Faulkner & now in possession of Hopestil Tyler not exceeding two acres for sd swamp being for an acre and three quarter of meadowe, which he says is yet due to him;


Quartermaster James ffrie to joyn with Corp- Johnson for ye measuring of sd swamp & alsoe to measure what Capt Chandler layd down to ye towne att ye lower end of his lot, and what he took up in lue thereof on ye south side of his barn, and make report thereof to ye towne the next town meeting.


The p'ticular grants of land and (torn) granted to John ffrye jun granted to him fouer acre house lott and the divisions together belonging to it: together with the street land: all which is bounded on the east side with the land of John ffry senº: on the north with the highway that goeth into the great swamp: and a little walnut tree marked on the northeast corner: by the land of Andrew Allen: and on the northwest corner with a stake on the south- west corner with a elme: bounded with a white oake on the southwest: and on the southeast with a black oake by Boston now way.

Sold to James Bridges two acres of land on ye south side of Richard Barker jun his house & on ye south side of ye way by sd Barker his house he paying within a year thirty shillings per acre, ye one half wheat ye other half Indian corne.


Voted that what land Quartermaster ffrie hath taken in out of ye Common, as his fence now stands, shall be valued by ye committee above sd to ye utmost extent & he to make payment to ye towne as others doe yt buy land, he promising not to transgress in ye like kind for ye future.

Graunted to Corp 11 Sam- ffrie libertie to improve six acres of upland for seaven years, on ye south side of ye pine swamp going into Nicholas Holts meadowss, & att ye end of sd seaven years to sowe it sufficiently with English hay seed, & to harrowe it in, not leaving it in Indian hills, but then to throw it up again to ye Common

Granted to John Cromwell so much land in the street near the widow Esther Stevensis as is sufficient to build a shop on, and the land to be the towns when he deserts or moves out of ye town.


Granted liberty to Sam- ffrie to exchange a corner of land on the northerly corner of his land for the convenience of a highway for the neighborhood and to take up so much on the southeast corner of his own land he takeing up no more than he layes down


Granted liberty to Benjamin ffrie to exchange a corner of land on the northeast corner of his land of about half an acre for the convenience of a high way and to take up so much by measure on the north west corner of his land.


Granted liberty to John ffarnum senr and Timothy Osgood to improve ten acres of land on the north side of the Mill river between Thomas Abbotts and John Osgoods land so as it may not interupt the Road of the catell to that part of ye common and to use it seaven years, that is seven-crops, and then to leave it sowed well with english seed grass and to fence it with the timber and wood that grows on sd ground, and not to take any fencing stuff off the common .


Sold to James Bridges, three acres of land, lying and joyning southerly & westerly off that land he bought of the town last year he paying the town thirty shillings ye acre accord- ing to usuall manner:


Sold to William Chandler 3 times, a parcell of land which is a lane between two parcells of land that was his fathers to pay the town thirty shillings per acre for what it appears to be according to usually manner.


Granted to Sam- Blancherd a corner of land adjoyning to his line near his meadow, the southeast corner for allowance for a hgih way that goes through his land so much by measure as the highway takes out of his and the Lott layers to allow for quality as they shall judge meet:


Sold to Walter Wright half an acre of land adjoyning to the land he bought of Stephen Johnson in the Rail swamp, he paying to the town after thirty shillings per acre according to the usuall manner.


Granted liberty to William Blunt to improve an acre of land adjoyning to his own land and to improve it seven years, then to sowe it well with english grass seed and to lay it open to the common, and to fence with what wood grows upon it.

Sold to Robert Gray an acre of land where his barn stands so as it prejudice no highway, he paying thirty shillings in corn to the town within one year or els the land to return to the town.


Granted liberty to Willm Abbott to exchange one acre of land he bought of Samuel Hutchinson which is for the making room for a high way to Joseph Ballards which is a great convenience to the neighborhood as was made appear; and to take sd acre of land on the east side of his land he bought of Edward Whitington.


Sold to Samuel Preston a round small swamp, between the old sawmill of Abraham ffoster & Thomas Russell of about an acre or somewhat more, to pay to the town after the rate of 30 shillings per acre for what it shall appear to be by measure, and to pay as is usuall within a year or els the land to return to the town.


Sold to Abraham More 3 adres of land at the south end of his own land adjoyn- ing to it, he paying thirty shillings per acre within one year in corn; and in case of nonpayment the land to return to the town.

Att the town meeting legally warned ye 27th of March 1693


Capt. John Osgood was chosen moderator.


It was voted and passed that the select men for this year shall have power to make such oders, as respect the welfare of the town in all respects and may and shall sue by themselves or by an attorney, any person that doth any damage upon the common, in carrying timber out of tom, or fencing in any of the town land, and any other act that is conducable to the good of the town.

According to ye request of Billireca selectmen, to ye selectmen of Andover (which they referred to ye town of Andover) bearing date ye 20th of November 1693 sd town of Andover: have ordered Capt Dudley Bradstreet Serjnt Joseph Ballard and John Abbott sen to attend Billirica men if they see cause to come upon a former agreement & desire ye selectmen to inform Billirica selectmen of ye same.


Graunted libertie to John Carleton to change half an acre of land on ye east side or end of his house, & to take soe much on ye northwest corner of his house joyning to his other land


Sold to Benjamin Abbott an acre of land joying to ye north end of his land he paying ye usuall prise and not damnifieing any way.

Voted that Capt. Chandler be added to ye committe for ye seating of ye meet- ing house & that they goe upon that work this week Capt Bradstreet having protested against haveing anything to doe with it:


Graunted to Capt: Chandler all ye wood upon ware hill, both great & small within ye bounds allotted there, for a sheep comon & he to cutt five hundred cord per annum: from ye date hereof tell ye whole sd sheep comon be cleared: & alsoe ye se Capt: Chandler shall imply ye north end of ye towne in cutting sd wood pro- vided they be willing or any other if they refuse & alsoe sd north end of ye towne, to cart ye coal made of sd wood att four shillings in money per load, which if they refuse it shall be in ye libertie of sd Chandler to provide others: he sd Chandler to allowe for cutting & cording sd wood eighteen pence per cord in money, they cutting sd wood to ye acceptation of ye Colliers, or as is usuall, provided this shall not hindre any from cutting fire wood or timber there in the mean time

Voted that whosoever shall catch any wofe & carry ye head to the constable as ye law directs, shall have of ye towne twenty shillings in pay, & this act to continue for two years, from ye date hereof & for ye time past tenn shillings apiece for each wof that hath not been yet payd for:


Voted yf whereas there was a comittee chosen att a meeting ye 7th March 1691/2 for takeing an account of such persons whoe had incroached upon ye towne comon, & alsoe to name sd incroachments, & to make report thereof under their hands to the towne, & sd comittee failing to bring their account, they are hereby required to perfect & bring in their account att ye nex tome meeting which will be in March next:


Voted & passed yf ye towne will forthwith as soone a conveniently they can, shingle ye south side of ye roof of Mr Barnards barn with long shingles:


Sold a parcell of land to George Abbott junr: containing about two cares or Nf shall appear by measure, sd land lying betwixt land of sd Abbott & ye land of John ffarnum junr: he paying ye towne, as others doe for time & specie: ye wood free for any man

Voted that whereas Serjt: Aslbee had a graunt ye last tome meeting for the fencing of his home meadowe with as strait a line as he could make provided he flung up his fence after he had carried off his hay: that act is made voide: & he has libertie to fence as aforesd without that reservation, but not to lay claime to sd land as his owne, but ye townes land:


Sold to John Graunger & ffrancis ffaulkner a parcell of lowe land on ye west side of Shawshin River & butting upon sd river & on ye south north west upon their owne land: & sd ffaulkner & Graunger are joy(ned) & generally bound to pay within a year thirty shillings in merchantable corne, or twenty shillings money, to ye selectmen or their ordr:


Sold to John Parker a parcell of swamp land att ye northeast corner of his land, he paying for each acre as abovesd:
