Article 9. To see if the town will accept the fol- lowing gift. $100.00 received from Chandler C. and Marie L. Leach to be known as the "George A. Leach Fund" income from which to be used for the perpetual care of the George A. Leach lot in Lake View Cemetery."

Article 15. To see if the town will vote to appro- priate and assess a sum of money for the purpose of building a sidewalk, with curbing, raised above the street level on the East and South side of the building known as Legion Hall in Cochituate, or do or act.


Article 16. To see if the town will vote to appro- priate and assess a certain sum of money for the up- keep of a "Home" for the Charles H. Alward Post No. 133, American Legion, Incorporated, or do or act.


Article 17. To see if the town will vote to appro- priate and assess a certain sum of money for the pur- pose of erecting two Memorials, one to be placed in Way- land Center and one to be placed in Cochituate, in honor of the soldiers and sailors of Wayland who served in the World War, or do or act.


Article 18. To see if town of Wayland will accept and maintain Ridgefield Road, to permit access to property known as Shore Acres.


Article 19. To see if the town will under the pro- visions of Section 45 of Chapter 41 of General Laws create on the First Monday of March in the year 1924, a board of commissioners of trust funds, consisting of

three persons who shall have the management of all trust funds given or bequeathed for the benefit of the town or the inhabitants thereof, except each one of said trust funds the management of which by said commis- sioners of trust funds would be contrary to the provi- sions made by the donor thereof, by the election, under the provisions of said Section 45, of one member of said board for one year, of one member thereof for two years, and of one member thereof for three years, at the an- nual town election on the first Monday of March in the year 1924.


Article 20. To see if the town will accept the pro- visions of Sec. 3, Chap. 143 of the General Laws, con- cerning the regulation of buildings or take other action in regard thereto.


Article 21. To see what action the town will take relative to better car service and keeping Street Railway tracks onen in the town.


Article 22. To see if the town will vote to appro- priate and assess a certain sum of money for the repairs or part of the repairs for the street car line from Cochit- uate Village to Wayland in order to assure continuance of the street car service to Wayland for the coming year, or do or act.


Article 23. To see what action the town will take in regard to the unused lines of the Boston Middlesex Street Railway Company held by franchise from the Town of Wayland in said town or do or act.


Article 24. To see if the town will instruct the Se- lectmen to appoint a committee to consider what action should be taken by the town with respect to the regula- tion of billboards and advertising signs and devices, and to report at the next special or annual town meeting.


Article 25. To see if the town will authorize the Selectmen to appoint a committee of citizens to inves- tigate and report at the next town meeting on the pos- sibility of establishing a town forest and to appropriate a certain sum of money for the use of the committee for this purpose.


Article 26. To hear any report there may be in regard to the Parmenter Bequest for the purpose of

providing a water supply for Wayland and to take any action that may seem fit in regard thereto.


Article 27. To see if the town will vote to appro- priate and assess a sum of money for the purpose of in- stalling electric lights on Loker Street, or do or act.


Article 28. To see if the town will vote to appro- priate and assess a sum of money for the purpose of in- stalling electric lights on Cochituate Road between Fiske's Corner and the residence of Samuel Mackenna, or do or act.


Article 29. To see if the town will vote to recom- mend to the Surveyor of Highways to employ Motor Power in the removal of snow at his discretion.


Article 30. To see if the town will appropriate and assess a sum of money to provide better Police pro- tection, direct how the money shall be provided, or take any action relating thereto.


And you are required to serve this Warrant by posting copies thereof attested by you at the Town Hall, at each Post Office in Town, and on the Engine House in Cochituate, seven days at least before the time of holding said election.


Hereof fail not and make due return of this war- rant with your doings thereon to the Town Clerk on or before March 1, 1923.

To either of the Constables of the Town of Wayland in said County :


Greeting :


In the name of the Commonwealth you are required to notify and warn the inhabitants of said Town qualified to vote in town elections to meet at their respective polling places on


Monday, March 6th, 1922


at six o'clock in the forenoon, there and then to bring in their ballots for a Moderator, a Town Clerk, three Selectmen, a Treasurer, a Collector of Taxes, an Auditor, a Surveyor of Highways, a Tree Warden, and seven Constables ,all for one year.


One member of the the School Committee, one Cemetery Commissioner, two Trustees of the Public Lib- rary, one Overseer of Poor, one Assessor, one member of the Board of Health, one Water Commissioner, and one Park Commissioner, all for three years.


Also to vote "Yes" or "No" upon the question. "Shall licenses be granted for the sale of certain non-intoxicat- ing beverages in this town?


All the foregoing to be voted on the official ballot. The polls will be open at 6.15 o'clock in the forenoon and will remain continuously open for at least four hours. when they may be closed unless the voters otherwise order.


And you are required to notify and warn the inhab- itants of said town qualified to vote in town affairs to meet at the town Hall on

Wednesday, March 8th, 1922


at 7.45 P. M. then and there to act on the following ar- ticles.


Article 1. To hear the reports of town officers, agents, and committees, and act thereon.


Article 2. To choose all necessary officers, agents and committees not elected by official ballot.


Article 3. To grant money for necessary town purposes.


Article 4. To appropriate the money received from Dog Licenses.


Article 5. To see if the town will vote to author- ize the Treasurer, with the approval of the Selectmen to borrow money in anticipation of the revenue of the cur- rent financial year.


Article 6. To see if the town will vote to author- ize the Town Treasurer to borrow a sum of money for the purpose of constructing a sidewalk on the State Road between Bennett Road and the Catholic Church.


Article 7. To see if the town will instruct the Tax Collector to take the necessary steps to enforce the pay- ment of all taxes within six months from November of each year beginning with November 1921 or do or act.


Article 8. To see if the town will appropriate and assess the sum of ($500.00) Five Hundred Dollars to repair road near Mr. Coffey's to the Lincoln line, or do or act.


Article 9. To see what action the town will take in regard to discontinuing the practice of employing married women as teachers in our public schools. with the exceptions of Drawing and Music teachers.


Article 10. To see if the town will appoint a Committee of four to act in conjunction with the Board of Health to investigate and report at a future town meeting in regard to the condition and elimination of Pigeries in the north end of the town, or do or act.


Article 11. To see if the town will appropriate and assess a sum of money not exceeding $500.00 for

the purpose of repairing Pleasant Street and regravel- ing the sidewalk on the northerly side of said street or do or act.


Article 12. To see if the town will vote to appro- priate and assess a sum of money not exceeding $50.00 to make necessary repairs to town clock and its dials on M. E. Church tower, Cochituate, or do or act.


Article 13. To see if the town will vote to appro- priate and assess a sum of money not exceeding $50.00 to install an electric light on the Main Street dial of the Town Clock on the M. E. Church tower. Cochituate.


Article 14. To see if the town will vote to instruct the Fire engineers to install two additional Fire Alarm Boxes in Cochituate, one in the vicinity of the residence of Arthur E. Peck on Main Street and one in the vicin- ity of the residence of Sidney G. Hahn on Pond Street.


Article 15. To see if the town will vote to pur- chase a steam road roller and to appropriate and raise a sum of money for said purpose, or do or act.


Article 16. To see if the town will vote to pur- chase a suitable truck for road work, and to appropriate and raise a sum of money for said purpose, or do or act.


Article 17. To see if the town will vote to purchase a watering cart for road work, and to appropriate and raise a sum of money for said purpose, or do or act.


Article 18. To see if the town will vote to execute a release to the Sandy Burr County Club, Inc of a strip of land on the Southerly side of Cochituate Road. containing a quarter of an acre. more or less, formerly a part of the "Dwight Farm" or do or act.


Article 19. To see if the town will accept a gift of Rev. J. D. Binnette, pastor of the St. Zepherin Church. of a certain lot of land in the St. Zepherin Cemetery, for Soldiers and Sailors.


Article 20. To see if the town will vote to install a hydrant near the residence of Charles S. Wright and ap- propriate money for the same.


Article 21. To see if the town will give authority

to any person or persons to manage in behalf of the town the fund of ten thousand dolars given by the will of Jon- athan M. Parmenter to the town of Wayland upon trust, and mentioned in the fourteenth item of said will, until such authority shall be revoked by later action of the town or otherwise.


Article 22. To see if the town will give authority to any person or persons to manage in behalf of the town the fund of Five Thousand Dollars given by the will of Jonathan M. Parmenter to the town of Wayland in trust, and mentioned in the fifteenth item of said will, until such authority shall be revoked by later action of the town or otherwise.


Article 23. To see if the Town will instruct the Se- lectmen to appoint a committee to represent the town and act in conjunction with the trustee or trustees of the estate of Jonathan M. Parmenter in reference to the Hospital and Water bequests, respectively.


Article 24. To see if the town will authorize the town treasurer to borrow a sum of money in anticipation of a reimbursement from the County and State on account of oiling of roads.


Article 25. To see if the town will under the provi- sions of Section 45 of Chapter 41 of General Laws create on the first Monday of March in the year 1923, a board of commissioners of trust funds, consisting of three per- sons who shall have the management of all trust funds given or bequeathed for the benefit of the town or the inhabitants thereof, except each one of said trust funds the management of which by said commissioners of trust funds would be contrary to the provisions made by the donor thereof. by the election, under the provisions of said Section 45, of one member of said board for one year, of one member thereof for two years, and of one member thereof for three years, at the annual town election on the first Monday of March in the year 1923.


Article 26. To see if the town will authorize the Town Treasurer to borrow a sum of money in anticipation of a reimbursement from the County and State on ac- count of repair on Main Street, Cochituate.


Article 27. To see if the town will vote to raise and

appropriate the sum of $250 or some other amount, and elect a director for demonstration work in agriculture and home economics, the money to be expended by, and the director to serve in cooperation with the County Trustees for Aid to Agriculture of the Middlesex Bureau of Agriculture and Home Economics, under the provi- sions of Chapter 273. General Acts of 1918; it being understood that $100 shall be expended for local super- vision of boys' and girls' club work.


And you are required to serve this Warrant by post- ing copies thereof, attested by you, at the Town Hall, at each Post Office in town, and on the Engine House in Cochituate, seven days at least before the time of holding said election.


Hereof fail not and make due return of this war- rant with your doings thereon to the Town Clerk on or before March 4th, 1922.

Article 1. Voted to accept report of Finance Com- mittee.


Committee appointed relative to sidewalk on State Road reported recommending building of gravel side- walk on South side for $2500.00 and let out the work on

contract. Voted to accept report of the Committee.


Voted that the Highway Department keep a separ- ate account of each appropriation as made.


Article 2. John Connelly, Isaac Damon and Wal- ter B. Henderson were elected Trustees of the Allen Fund.


Voted that Selectmen act as Fence Viewers.


Voted that Constables act as Field Drivers.


Israel A. Lupien, Frank Haynes and William Ful- lick were elected Surveyors of Lumber.


Israel A. Lupien, Arthur F. Marston, William S. Lovell and Arthur W. Atwood were elected Measurers of Wood and Bark.


Ronald Campbell, Frank A. Burke, Warren L. Bis- hop, Harry Craig, Joseph Perodeau, Marcus M. Fiske. Thomas W. Frost, Frank C. Moore, William Nolan, Rob- ert Stearns, and James J. Bolton were elected Memorial Day Committee.

Voted that the Town Treasurer, with the approval of the Selectmen, be and hereby is, author- ized to borrow money from time to time in anticipation of the revenue of the financial year beginning January 1, 1922, to issue a note or notes therefor payable within one year, any debt or debts incurred under this vote to be paid from the revenue of the said financial year.

Voted that the Town Treasurer be authorized to borrow a sum not exceeding $1,500.00 and to issue a note or notes therefor for constructing a side- walk on the State Road between the Catholic Church and Bennett Road and that the sidewalk be constructed under direction of the Selectmen with authority to let it out on contract and with full authority as to location and details.

Article 8. Voted to repair road leading from Coffey's corner to Lincoln Depot and that the money for said purpose be taken from the general highway account.

Article 24. Voted that the Treasurer, with the approval of the Selectmen, be authorized to borrow a sum not exceeding $5.000.00 and to issue a note or notes therefor payable within one year, in anticipation of re- imbursement from the County and State, on account of oiling of roads.
