Stock of Monies, Bonds, or Notes in ye hands of ye Deacons & to confider with ye Deacons what may be ye most proper way of Improving ye Same & to report to ye Chh. This day brought in their report Unanimously agreed to by the Commit- tee & Deacons and Unanimously accepted by the Chh, Which report is as follows Viz :-

The Committee appointed to inquire into ye State of ye Chh Stock of Monies Bonds or Notes in ye Deacon's Hands & cou- fider with ye Deacons what may be moft proper way to Im- prove ye Same &c. Find that there is in ye hands of ye Deacons (Exclufive of mony appropriated to ye ufe of ye Poor) the Sum of thirty-seven Pounds nineteen Shillings & four pence three farthings : and ye Deacons have allso in their hands Bonds & (109) Notes Securities for ye Payment of two hundred & ten Pounds, fourteen Shillings & one penny, with some Intereft due thereon. The two Sums above-mentioned amount to Two hundred & forty-eight Pounds thirteen Shillings & five pence three far- things : Part whereof, Vizt. Two hundred & Twenty Pounds six Shillings & nine pence one farthing is ye Produce of ye Land & Wood att Newton.

And as to ye moft proper way to Improve ye Same Stock ye Committee together with ye Deacons are Unanimously of opi- nion. That in ye first Place So much thereof as may be ne- cesary for ye difcharge of any Debts due to be paid out of it be applied for that purpose.

2ndly That ye further Sum of forty Shillings Cash be kept in Bank by ye Deacons to defray any Contingent Charge yt may arife by providing ye Elements for ye Lord's Supper or otherwise.

3rdly That ye remainder be put out at Intereft & be a Fund for yt Support of ye Gospel under ye following Regulations.

1st That it be let out in as few Sums as Conveniently may be. 2dly That ye Intereft of ye whole be made payable att ye same time

3dly That ye whole of ye Intereft be added to ye Principal for ye term of fourteen years next to come.

4thly That from and after ye Expiration of Said term of Forteen years during ye further term of fifteen years one Third part of

ye Intereft annually Shall be given to ye first Parifh in Cam- bridge for & towards defraying ye Expense of Supporting the Minister of this Parish : and ye other two third Parts shall be added to ye Principal.

5thly. That from and after ye Expiration of ye Said laft mentioned Term of fifteen years. Two third parts of ye Intereft annually Shall be given for ye Support of ye Minister as aforefaid : and ye other Third Part shall be added to ye Principal forever.

6thły. That this Fund shall be Infpected annually by a Committee appointed by this Chh, who Shall report to ye Chh ye State thereof and how ye produce is applied.

When we confider ye Benefit yt may accrue to Pofterity by eftablifhing a Fund of this kind, and how much it will Con- tribute to promote ye worship of ye true God. & ye knowledge & ye Practice of ye religion of our Common Lord & Saviour Jesus Christ amongst future Generations who may be Inhabi- (110) tants of This parifh. We regard it as a defertion of ye caufe of God and of His Chrift not to Embrace this oppertu- nity of Communicating our Sentiments Concerning this matter to our Dear & beloved Brethren in ye Lord Jesus, the members of this Chh.

And we Earnestly recommend to them that when yy meet to Commemorate ye Death & Sufferings of him who Spared not to Shed his precious Blood for ns. They would Express their thankfull remembrance of ye Benefit yy have received by Cheer- fully Contributing a Small part of ye Substance with which God has blefsed them for ye important purpofes of Continuing & Spreading amongst mankind that pure & nndefiled religion which Chrift appeared on Earth to propagate.

To Shew yt a very Small part of our Substance properly ap- plied would produce a very Considerable Effect.

We beg leave to mention that by Calculation it appears that if Each Person who Contributes att ye Sacrament of ye Lords Supper, would Increafe his Contribution only one third Part (that is let ye perfon who usually Contributes two Coppers. for ye future Contribute three Coppers Every Sacrament Day : and ye Person who usually has given Sixpence for ye future

give ninepence, & so in proportion for greater or lefser Sums) and thefe Sums be regularly kept att Intereft : The Whole Sum in ye Space of Twenty Eight years would amount to four hundred & thirty five Pounds five Shillings & odd pence, which being added to Seven hundred & thirty three pounds Six Shill- ings & eight pence ; ye produce of ye fund as before planned gives att ye end of twenty eight years the Sum of One thousand, one hundred & Sixty Eight Pounds, Eleven Shillings & Eight pence. Two Thirds of ye Interest of which laft mentioned Snm is ye Sum of forty six Pounds & fourteen Shillings almoft half as much as our Revd Paftors Salary.

We therefore recommend to Each member of this Chh to Exercise that Piety & Charity with which God is well pleafed in ye manner aforementioned namely by Increafing his Contri- bution att ye Sacrament one third part.

And we further recommend yt ye State of the Chh Stock be Inquired into Every year; and that Such Sum or Sums of money as Shall be in ye hands of ye Deacons not appropriated, or necessary for other Important Purpofes be annually applied & Set over to and for ye Increafe of ye Fund abovementioned. All which we submit to ye wife prudent &c. confideration of our Revd Paftor & Beloved Brethren of ye Chh.

Wm Kneeland by order of the committee.
