CEMETERIES.
Ashley ville Cemetery-Riverdale ab Ashley av. Agent for sale of lots, William H. Bagg, 1180 Riverdale.
Church Street Graveyard-This is the oldest burial ground in the town, is well preserved, but it is almost impos- sible to decipher most of the inscrip- tions. Among those that can be read are "Nataniel Dwite," died November, 1711, and Rev. John Woodbridge, first minister of West Springfield, who "fell asleep June 10, 1718."" No body has been deposited in these grounds since the beginning of the last century.
Town Hall Cemetery-This is a burying ground lying between Town Hall and Park Street Church and was laid out about 1780. The first burial was that of Solomon Lathrop, 1787.
Meeting House Hill Cemetery-These grounds are owned by the First Church parish. The first burial in it was in 1808. It contains a soldiers' monu- ment, a brown stone shaft about twenty feet high, bearing inscriptions of thirty soldiers of the 10th Massa- chusetts regiment.
